We wanted to give it a try imstead of a regular fast food such as mcdonalds or BK but were disappointed. Apart from its convenience in terms of location, the staff is rude, the burgers were dry(no sauce, and probably sitting there for hours) and not tasty. The fries were ok, the soda was definitely water + a taste of something, but not what we wanted. Not recommended at all!

The prices are travel station prices, but who wants to pay for overcooked dried out fried chicken? Not me, I’m mobile c ya! No wonder they are not around anymore!

Actually this Roy Rogers has really good fried chicken. We were on our way to Sesame place and heard the food there sucks. Glad we got fried chicken at the RR at the molly pitcher rest stop. 4 decent sized pieces for 7 bucks. Not bad. The cheeseburger was not that good however.

Roy Rogers is what you get when you have little choice. It’s not awful, but it’s below average. The burgers and chicken are okay at best. It’s a subpar fast food place. If you have a choice, you can do better. We were on a long road trip. Well, not really long, but long enough, 8 hours. Anyway, we needed gas. We needed to pee. And, we were hungry. The options were slim, so we settled. Them the breaks.

I love Roy Rogers and it’s my traditional road trip food. I have fond memories of my mom taking me to the Roy’s down the street from our house when I was a kid. Unfortunately, most of the franchises have closed, so it’s a treat when I come across one. The food is better than most other fast food restaurants, with the burgers being cooked on an actual grill instead of some fire breathing conveyor belt(BK) or in a warming tray(McD). The service wasn’t great(slow), but I think that’s due to understaffing on New Year’s Day. Only 3 stars because service was slow, the rest area needs to be cleaned better, and the prices are high.

Absolute garbage in the Molly Pitcher rest stop. Crowded, greasy, dirty trays, overpriced. Crap. Don’t do it. Just go to the bathroom, get gas or a starbucks and leave!

In short, crappy food .but nice workers. I stopped on the turnpike for some breakfast. Got a bacon, egg and cheese croissant. The bacon was burnt and the croissant was chewy. Don’t they know that a croissant should be flaky? Hello people! To add insult to injury, they didn’t have hash browns. Instead, they had these monstrosities called«breakfast fries» that looked like steak fries. For breakfast! Of all the nerve… The final straw was the coffee. I don’t know how they got it so hot. The kind lady actually added ice to it for me and it was still scalding. I guess they might be hoping that if you burn your tongue you won’t taste how thoroughly mediocre it is. I do have to say that everyone working there was super cheerful, polite and helpful. It’s just their food stinks. And that’s kind of the point of a restaurant.

I loved some damn Roy Rogers as a kid, and at some point, all the Roy Rogers went BYE-BYE in my area. So seeing this Roy Rogers at a rest stop gets me kind of excited for the old school Double R burger, Roast Beef, Fries, Shakes, etc. The problem with this Roy’s is that the food is all pre-made, sitting under a hot lamp. The food is FARFROMFRESH. I guess this is just an express option where no care is put into the quality of food. Don’t bother eating there unless you want some cheap, quick, bland, stale food. Get a smoothie next door instead. LOL.

On the way home from Hoboken and starving we had no choice but to pull over to this service plaza to grab some food. I intended to get Nathans… maybe even Cinnabon. But alas… it was not to be. Both were closed for the day. My only choice was Roy Rogers. As I looked over the heating trays of probably hours old sandwiches I asked the lady behind the counter what was on one of the chicken sandwiches. Either incapable or unwilling of speech she merely pointed at the display behind her. I took the plain chicken sandwich intending to load it up with something decent from the Fixins bar I fondly remembered from my childhood when Roy Rogers existed outside the confines of rest stops. I went down the line a little to get a soda… There was either Small, Bucket, or Gigantic Refillable bottle sizes. I asked the«lady» behind the counter if there was more of a medium size… she kinda grunted no. Finally I got some fries that were best described as tasteless(that at least was slightly fixable with salt). I took the least browned lettuce leaf I could find, some pickles, and some mayo and off we went. Not good. the chicken was similar to eating a piece of rubber with mayo and pickles. Near one side it was oddly hard and/or overly fatty and unchewable. I spat that part out of my car window, threw the rest away in disgust, and prayed to the gods that I would not get dysentery for my troubles. Never again. Next time I starve or just drive off the turnpike in a blaze of glory. Finally to add insult to injury I saw a sign minutes later… Burger King, next plaza. NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Tried the breakfast food here. They have very soggy croissants, but the ham is okay, bacon was so-so. One slice of cheese, all for 2.89 for an xxxx, egg & cheese croissants. Water was not too bad — 25 oz for $ 2. The bar for tomatoes, lettuce, and pickles was open, which was nice. Added a bit to fill out the sandwiches. A bit dirty on the tables, but with so many people passing through the rest stop, I’m not really surprised.

Eat here if only desperate. I wolfed down a hamburger in 3 minutes… yes I won’t set any Nathans record anytime soon… but I did what I had to do. The meat was way overcooked and dry… the bun was soggy and falling apart… what saved it was that i was able to add a huge amount of tomatos and lettuce to disguise the poor quality. $ 3 for a ¼ pounder… it was probably ¼ before it was cooked… but that meat sure was dessicated. Do yourself a favor… walk 50 feet to the left and eat at Dick Clark’s Grill.
