If you find yourself in the Albuquerque area, drive to Bosque Farms to buy carne seca(beef jerky) from the Jerky Store. I grew up in the Army and, when my dad retired, we moved to Alb. My mom is from northern NM, and we grew up eating carne seca that my grandmother made. This is the best replication so far. I have left Alb and had a military career of my own. Every time I visit, I make my way here. My mother has sent countless packages with this carne seca. There is no other as good. My children love the plain, but I like the teriyaki, green and red chili flavors, as well. They can put together gift baskets with cool retro lunch boxes and other off the wall eats. This is out of the way(past the Isleta casino), but worth the drive.
