Accountemps

First off I would like to include Officeteam and AccountTemps under this same umbrella.
During my initial interview with them, it seemed that they weren’t really listening to what I wanted, only how much money they could make off of me.
My biggest beef with them is that they seem to only want to send me to payroll positions when looking at my resume I am clearly an HR/​benefits person. The payroll assignment I was sent to for long term goals, a bad fit, short term the org was great, my boss there fanastic, the hourly wage so –so.
On the other hand, if I were looking for people for some short term project, they have enough of a pool to get together a team for a week’s assignment, I would probably call Robert Half. I did get one of those when a conference came to Boston. The recruiter accurately described the position, hourly wage was in line for the set-​up that we were doing. And it was enough to pay for my gas bill that month.
So I find Robert Half/​Accounting Temps/​OfficeTeam a mixed bag. I have experienced better and worse.

I moved here last year and went through Accountemps to find a position. I got lucky with the company they placed me with, but Accountemps was horrible. The first guy I dealt with was pushy and then from there on out I barely heard from them. Even tried e-​mailing the new staffing manager to ask a few questions and got no response. But when I e-​mailed them announcing my resignation and asking them to not tell the office I was working with because I wanted to speak with them first, they immediatly contacted me and called and told the representative at the office that I was resigning.
This was before I had a chance to speak with them which I thought was completely rude and out of line considering I specifically asked them not to. Then they started being pushy about filling my position at this company to the point that they might not be using their services anymore.
This company needs to really work on their customer service and learn to respect their employees and clients. These are the people that allow them to make money and they are outright rude and disrespectful to them.

I was recently unemployed for a good while and I signed up with Accountemps to try to find a new job. I went in for a preliminary interview with Samir, who was very nice, but I got a feeling that I was treated less than. Every job that I was contacted about would have a start date the next day from when they called me. It just seemed like when you agree to accept $ 12 an hour for a job and say that you are flexible, they’ll just fire off any dead-​end job your way.
I did receive some training tools thru an email, but this was after I had to call Samir and ask him. Prior to that phone call, I had maybe one other phone call and it was because I got the feeling that I wasn’t as important as he made me believe. The training session took about 20 minutes longer that I wanted (Excel 2013, Cell Formatting) I don’t think I would recommend anyone here unless you were specifically into accounting. I got the feeling that being an Economics major, I didn’t have any ‘valued skills’.

If I could put down «negative stars» I would.
Do not do business with these people. Their sole concern is appeasement of their client and they will do anything to make that happen, up to and including capricious termination. They are also not straight with their assignments; advertising full time positions but it turns out it is only part-​time. Finally they pay shit, 10 to 11 $ an HR. And with the exception of one individual, the people who manage Accountemps are a condescending and thoroughly unpleasant bunch.
Do. Not. Go. There. There are far better alternatives available than doing business with Accountemps.

I had already heard things about Accountemps and Robert Half, most of which weren’t flattering. However, there was an obligation to check them out.
I came in for an appointment, and the person who was scheduled to meet with me did not show up/​was busy. They made me do the online assessment, which was a simple Excel skills test, and a 1 minute typing test. All the while, I sat and watched CNN.
1 hour, 45 minutes later, someone from the back finally talks to me, and gives me at most 15 minutes of their time. They had no idea of my resume, my background or anything. They offered to connect me with one of their colleagues. As I talked to her, she told me, «I’m in a rush, so I need to leave.»
Thanks for nothing.

Horrible experience with Accountemps. After all the work of submitting resume, interviewing and taking those tests just a «well we’ll call if something comes in. 8 months later I have to submit resume about 10 more times and finally someone calls and says clients are looking for entry level accountants. Doesn’t make any sense except there are probably paying 10 — 12 an hour if they only have entry level.
Also their clients seem very interested in only taking entry level staff. Is the economy really that bad? Have all the good jobs been sent out of state?

I had the worst experience working with these people. They sent me on a job interview, called to tell me that the interview went well, then called to tell me that the company was hiring the son of a friend of one of the higher-​ups. Fine, that’s out of their control (I guess). I didn’t hear from anybody for almost 3 weeks about anything — even temporary work — then got another phone call saying that the hire at the original company didn’t work out, and they wanted to send me on another interview. Great. After the interview I got another call saying that they loved me. Fantastic. Color me excited. 2 days later I get another phone call saying that the company decided that I wasn’t right for the job, and that it was «a personality thing.» What? They loved me, but my personality’s not right for the job? That makes no sense. Did I mention that it was a completely different employee that called me every single time?
Despite their promise that they were «having a staff meeting tonight and our main focus is going to be on finding you work,» I never heard from anybody at Accountemps again. They completely wasted 3 weeks of my time and energy. Word of advice for job seekers — stick to craigslist, and skip Accountemps.

My experience with this agency has been so terrible I am compelled to write a review.
I have worked on two projects through RHL and was paid way below the industry standard that respectable agencies such as Update Legal, Special Counsel and Counsel on Call negotiate on behalf of their lawyers. Both projects ended abrubtly with no explanation. The projects were badly managed. One person was wrongly fired in place of the person who was actually supposed to be fired because they had very similar names.
Don’t try to take half a day off for a dentist appointment, you might lose your job. Basically, RHL is the bottom of the barrel in terms of agencies in Boston and I wouldn’t waste your time working for $ 17 to $ 20 an hour when you can find a contract position for $ 28 to $ 35.
They don’t even deserve a star.

I moved to Boston with my husband and was looking for legal work. I was recently admitted into the California Bar and studying for the July Massachusetts Bar. I submitted my resume to them and I was given an interview that week for a position. First I met with them, then they had me do an interview for a position available that same day! Unfortunately I didn’t get it but within 10 days I received a call from their team with another position that started immediately. Although I couldn’t take it, they have be diligent in looking for jobs but you have to be also.
If you call or email them, they will call back within 24 hours. You have to call every week to make sure they know who you are — anyone looking for work should be doing that anyways, especially in this economy.

Nothing on my resume said finance or accounting, but they some how found me anyways. «Occasionally we get the types of jobs youre looking for, but not often.» I have a feeling they might be ok if youre looking for a finance job, but seriously guys? Come on… Next!

I was contacted by a recruiter here that found my resume on one of the «employment jobsites» (Was never told which one as he couldn’t remember). He had a couple of «great oppurtunities» that he wanted to discuss with me. So I said ok and he scheduled a time to meet with me. I ended up having to cancel the original time we were supposed to meet as the temp job I was doing was requiring me to stay late. I told him this and that I was done with the assignment by the end of the week and could we meet the following monday. He was like «let me know when you are free. I don’t know if these jobs will still be open as they want to start interviewing by Friday».
So I got in touch with him Monday, we met on Tuesday, no mention of those jobs but he mentioned a couple of others. He said he would get more details and email me them. Never emailed me that day. I followed up with him the next day and nothing. Crickets chirping. He never got back to me and I didn’t waste my time any further.
I ended up getting a job on my own. If I ever need help again, I won’t go here for sure. Only giving one star because you have to give something.
