Third class customer service! People here apparently think that laughing at their customers is ok. I ordered my coffee and told the barista that I’d like this coffee and that I had paid for it already. She then goes on to saying well you order first and then pay, so I told her I didn’t know, but I already paid so can I have my coffee now? She started laughing and went on to the other customer. Then another employee came and told me the same thing, and at this point I was just furious and told them: since I had already paid for my coffee, can I get it now??? The guy just looked at me, made me my coffee and put it to the side! They won’t be getting my business again. P. s. The place wasn’t even busy…

I really, really want to like this place. It’s downstairs to my work, and easy to get to. Sandwiches are fine, and the pastries are also decent. The line for ordering said sandwiches is wildly confusing and creates a chaotic space during any the busy times. I’d recommend some signage and order. Staff is always really friendly!

We are staying in the Park Plaza Hotel and went to this Au Ban Pain to pick up some breakfast. We purchased an egg and cheddar sandwich on ciabatta and an Asiago bagel with avocado. The bagel was $ 1.19, and the avocado cost $ 1.25. Please view photo of the entire amount of avocado that was placed on half the bagel(the other half had two of these disgraceful«slices»). The ciabatta sandwich was not toasted, and the shockingly tasteless egg was sans cheddar,(though judging from what they consider to be acceptable portions, I suppose there may have been an undetectable amount of cheese in the egg?). I would rather flush $ 5.28 down the toilet than purchase food here again. If you go, check your orders, and if you ask for avocado, don’t forget to bring your magnifying glass along.

This location recently did a refresh and it was worth it. The flow is much better and the service is as well. Located adjacent to the Park Plaza hotel, this is a great spot for a quick breakfast or lunch on the go. Their food is consistently fresh since they make it to order. I’m a fan of the Smoked Salmon Wasabi bagel and their asiago bagel is better than most. This is a chain so you can be pretty much assured the same menu and quality at whichever location you go, but I personally like this one. In the summer, they also offered outside seating. Inside seating is a little lacking, but I don’t know many who would eat there. Maybe they will get rid of their seating and be a grab and go exclusively. Good concept, good service, good food, good prices.

Classy chain, tasty bits. I like the cafeteria feel and style this place offers. More then that I enjoy the ‘family style’ dining. Of course I want to be surrounded by strangers while I power through my lunch… lovely!

This is a good little place that wont break the bank for breakfast. My breakfast bagel with egg, cheese, and sausage was alright, not fantastic not bad. They also have a large selection of coffee for you to choose from. Its quick and easy to get in and out, so save some money and have breakfast here.

Worst customer service ever I keep hoping it will get better, good food but I will never understand why everyone but the cashiers acts like they are doing is a favor

Au Bön Pain’s are fine for what they are — a place for office workers or tourists to grab lunch or breakfast. This one, however, simply can’t get an order right. I ordered a standard salad today and the person making it had to keep looking up at the board to see what went into the salad. When I told him he had forgotten four of the ingredients, he told me I was wrong and handed me my salad. No manager in sight. This was the fourth or fifth time this has happened. I’m done, won’t be going back.

Food is lower quality than Dunkin donuts. Plus staff are put out at having to actually having to work.

Unbelievably incompetent staff. No semblance of crowd control. Long waits. What should have taken 5 minutes took 20. Unimpressed even for a chain. Avoid this location.

Came here for a quick breakfast. It has an impressive selection of pastries, coffees, teas, and soups in a self-service setup. You can also order from the counter for bagels and other hot items. I like the concept of ABP and think it has great potential. My review is just based on the egg-white + avocado + cheddar on a mini wheat bagel. It mentioned having lemon aioli but I could barely taste it. I also don’t get much cheddar either. The rest of it was warm and tasty, although a bit on the smaller size. 3-stars for me. To their credit their French Roast coffee(100% Arabica bean) was bold and smooth.

As a commuter, I pass by Copley’s Au Bön Pain every day. I’ve gotten some quick bites here and there, but its chipotle black bean burger remains in my memory as one of the best bean burgers I’ve ever had. It melts in my mouth, and the the flavors work very well together. Usually I find bean/vegan burger patties to be aggressively seasoned, but this particular burger is very well balanced with the tomatoes, avocadoes, and the sauce. I really can’t stop gushing about this chipotle bean burger. Perfect light on-the-go burger to start the day.

I came here a couple of times while I visited in early December and I loved this chain café. Sadly, we don’t have these on the west coast so I took advantage and enjoyed their iced coffee, chocolate croissant and macaroni. Such generous portions and well-priced. I love it all.

So close to the Boston Plaza Hotel. They have great pastries. And they have much more than pastries. The staff were helpful and friendly. A little construction is going on in front – careful of falling debris.

This is a pretty clean place and they always have a good pastry assortment. However, their staff is inattentive & entirely too social to bother taking or making your order. Making iced coffee is also like a game show obstacle coarse: ice & coffee here, cream here, sugar over there, cup kids around the corner & the straws are back with the soda machine(where the ice is).

The pastries and sandwiches in this bakery chain are consistently good. Stop in any branch in Boston and you will get the same quality food. The deal: stop by after dinner for the best deals on that day is leftover baked goods!

Their recipes could use a little love. Everything is calculated and doesn’t feel like it’s made from the heart, like some other local shops can accomplish. From the salads to the sandwiches, everything is fine, but boring. Expect to pay premium prices for those and the soups as well. I never feel like I’m getting what I pay for. The location is convenient, but seems like it was jammed into a weird space. You won’t feel like your at a café – it has corporate chain written all over it.

I used to live in Boston and I love this chain for some bizarre reason, so I was happy to see on close to my hotel. Went in a mid-afternoon weekday. Seemed to be on a skeleton crew. Had to stand around and wait for someone to come behind the counter and serve me. Good pastries and sandwiches. Free wifi. Went back a day or so later, in the morning, and there seemed to be more staff there, so it went a bit more quickly. Staff who was there were friendly, so I’d go back. Good chocolate croissants. And, normally I run screaming from most places’ salmonella-laced tuna salad sandwiches, but I’ve never gotten sick from theirs(knock on wood), and I’ve tried it both in Boston, NY, and Philly. Kudos for the non-poisonous tuna from ABP!

Great place right off Boston Commons adjacent to the Park Plaza Hotel. Breakfast or a satisfying, quick lunch, this place is a sure thing for good, healthy eats. I really like how they advertise right on the menu by each item the calories. Makes you reconsider if that slice of bacon is really worth another 150 calories! Tried their slim wheat bagel filled with egg white, cheese and avocado. Very good. Coffee is always good here too.

I went to Mike & Patty’s this morning to try their breakfast, but after being told that it would take 30 minutes to make my grilled cheese sandwich I decided to skip them. Seriously. Are you kidding me? 30 minutes? No sandwich is worth that wait especially if the place is tiny and there are 4 employees working the kitchen. I ended up going to Au Bön Pain ’cause it was raining this morning plus I was super hungry and didn’t want to walk around too far. Now…I know this place is a chain, but I think it’s really stupid when reviewers post 1 star reviews at places like this just because it’s a chain. I’m giving them 5 stars because I was in and out there in 5 minutes and the employees were quick. There were only 2 employees working behind the sandwich counter, but they were still able to handle the line. Usually, I order the make your own breakfast sandwich with the egg and fresh spinach on Asiago and a cup of vegetarian or vegan soup. The only thing that sucks is they microwave the cheese. I don’t like that, so if you don’t want cheese or you don’t want it melted be sure to tell them. Thank goodness they don’t microwave the eggs or I would be gagging. They had the vegetarian corn & chili soup today, so I did try that. It was delish and nutrish. I love the fact that you can build your own smarter meal to fit your dietary restrictions, but their pastries and cupcakes are sometimes too tempting. Sinfully delish. I love their flaky raisin and chocolate torsade with pearl sugar. It’s seriously addicting.
