Au Chocolat

Ran in before work to grab gifts for my admins. The associate who helped me explained the various chocolates to me while also mindful that I was in a rush. I chose the Neuhaus chocolates which were beautifully wrapped and placed in individual gift bags. I will be coming back for sure for future gifts.

Very reasonable prices, wonderful selection, and really nice/​helpful people behind the counter :).

Speaking as someone who is very particular about chocolate and candy, this place is FABULOUS. Prices are SO reasonable (especially considering the area) you can find many many items for under $ 3. And I’m not talking about a single chocolate – little bags of Haribo gummies started at around $ 1.59 and little bags of delicious chocolates at $ 2.50. I went in with low expectations looking for stocking stuffers, and I was SO pleasantly surprised.
They had many many varieties, sizes, and pricepoints of chocolates Santas (a must for any well-​stocked stocking), little bags of peanut butter marshmallows for $ 2.50 (to die for, one of my favorite things) and some things I was curious to try, like chocolate-​covered toasted coconut marshmallows and chocolate covered dried strawberries. The owner was VERY friendly and pleasant, and I really liked the set up of the store. Lots to look at and an excellent variety, no matter who you are buying for.
I would definitely say this is the best candy shop in Boston right now.

Truffles, caramels, fudge,

Chocolate pizza, popcorn, cookies, and pretzels
and don’t forget the chocolate covered peanut butter marshmallows!

I thought the staff were very welcoming, and polite. The girl behind the counter was multitasking and getting gifts/​shipments ready, but was more than happy to pause and answer a question or even point things out to me when she saw me looking at a specific glass case with chocolaty delights.
I liked the chocolate hazelnut squares. It was one layer or dark and one layer of milk chocolate, but hazelnut flavored. Very good.
I thought the solid cats were a little too sweet — sweeter than normal, that is. Just tasted like it was more sugar than cocoa. They make nice gifts though.
I definitely will be popping in again very soon!!!

Went in to get a small box of chocolates as a gift but also something small for myself, as I had a sweets craving. I got a pre selected box of 6 truffles and a dark chocolate salted caramel and white chocolate covered pretzel for myself. Not overly impressed w what I ate myself… the caramel was fine but the pretzel tasted stale. The truffles came in a cute box w a nice ribbon on it. The girl working was not overly helpful. Wouldn’t go back here.

As a chocoholic I would say I am a chocolate snob. Like seriously, don’t give me some crap like Hershey’s to eat cause I will smack you silly.
You have to know where this place is since most people won’t stumble upon it unless you work in the financial district.
Let me just say this place makes things very pretty. They taste the way chocolates should, thankfully & a nice variety as well. Although I wanted to eat my whole box at once I knew to savor it the whole week (I don’t like to share good chocolate).
This is good to bring to someone for an occasion since it’s a bit pricey but worth it though. Just roam about & you’ll find something that strikes your fancy, trust me.

The one star is based solely on the chocolates available for purchase by the pound.
I walked by and saw the chocolates in the window and thought, well okay… I’ll have some chocolate. Loved that you could mix and match what you wanted and pay by the pound.
That love was soon destroyed by the chocolates themselves. The chocolate was definitely old, and the chocolate covered cookie dough and cake batter balls were so disgusting that I literally had to throw the whole bag away… WHO THROWS AWAY CHOCOLATE?! It was such a disappointment, and, if I hadn’t been all the way at the other end of the city, I would definitely have gone back to return what was left.
I want to say that I’d go back to try the other chocolates that they have (because I love LOVE chocolate), but I’m not up for paying to try more gross chocolate.

Macarons Only
I bought a box of French Macarons and was very disappointed. They were so hard and dry. Very disappointed.

Very small shop filled to the brim with candy. I bought my wife some dark choco salted caramels for Valentine’s Day and she declared them excellent, so that’s good enough for me. Her review is based in part on the caramel not sticking to your teeth, which she notes inferior caramel does.

Leaving Boston, decided to stop at a chocolate shop. We walked in and walked into a place jam packed with sooo many chocolate covered goodies. My son was in little kid heaven.
My guy got a huge peanut butter cup (yuck I say), my boy got a bag of gold coins & a chocolate bunny. I got a chocolate covered Twinkie. Fat girl status.
The Twinkie was as dry and nasty as they’ve always been. Why’d I get it you ask? Have you ever tried something, hated it, yet every 2 years or so you convince yourself that you’re missing out on something incredible? That’s my deal with Twinkies. I hate them, yet every couple of years I find myself craving one.

This is the place to go when you want to make someone feel extra special with chocolate. I just popped in to pick up some milk chocolate turtles for a friends birthday They are boxed elegantly and tied with the most fabulous birthday bow. I can’t wait to give this gift It may cost a little more but it is worth every cent

After eating your lunch and you feel as though you need something sweet to top off your day… a visit to Au Chocolat!
They have SO MANY different chocolates to choose from. You can be fancy and pick some in the glass case or resort to the cheaper chocolate covered goodies around the store. I must admit though, maybe twice when I bought the random baggies of chocolate covered pretzels or mini grahams, it tasted kind of stale. Most of the time, they’re still crunchy and yummy.
How can I forget to mention that this store sells SLUSH during the spring/​summer season! They have cool flavors like root beer and orange cream. YUM don’t mind if I do!

I just love coming here to buy treats for my loved ones after work. I feel like kid whenever I walk in. Just being in the shop is a joy. They have a variety of nuts, maple sugar candy for my mom, a self serve Jelly Belly buffet so I can get just the ones my boyfriend likes, a chocolate deli, and plenty of other treats that can serve for just about any special occasion (even diabetic — I’ve noticed some sugar free options). They were there for me when I needed a good Yankee Swap gag gift — chocolate pizza. Stay away if you have trouble resisting temptation!

If it would not make me huge I would love to pop in here every day. They have a great selection for such a little store! Multiple candy walls abound including a normal candy wall, jelly belly wall and m&m wall. They also have lots of mini bags of treats. I came in here to get a little something for my co-​workers and they wrapped all the mini bags right up for me, with cute gift bags and ribbon – and also gave me a piece of chocolate to try and take on the road. The staff seem to be very happy and genuinely love making other people happy with sweets! My co-​workers loved what I got them and especially enjoyed the chocolate peanut butter rice krispy treats so I recommend picking those up!

Truly as good as it gets. This shop is adorable, small but filled wall to wall with delectable handmade sweets. So many different types of candies and chocolates! I have gotten the caramellos (a marshmallow covered with caramel, you must try), the chocolate covered pretzels and the peanut butter cups. All of them are excellent, but those peanut butter cups are the whip. I don’t think I will ever have a Reese’s again.
The staff is always so kind and helpful. It is such a pleasure when I can stop in!

Soooooooo disappointing. I walked in and browsed for a few minutes. Two employees were just sitting behind the counter. I was not greeted or asked if I had any questions! I thought I came to a place where chocolate lovers were welcome with open arms– I guess not!
Some help would have been appreciated as the store is a bit cluttered that I didn’t know where to start. I ended up leaving empty handed and feeling completely ignored.

I love this shop because someone has clearly made a career on other people forgetting the birthdays and anniversaries of their loved ones, then running in here on their way home.
It’s on High Street, tucked into a tiny ground level store front between the MBTA headquarters and an out of business hardware store that smells like urine, but it’s on the way to South Station.
There is always someone in there, rushing the clerk so they can catch the train without ripping their power suit, or someone staring guiltily at the dark chocolate truffles after lunch.
Plus sometimes they have funny chocolate, like the break up chocolate box they sell after Valentine’s Day.

If you like small, Euro-​esk, specialty-​shop shopin’, then you’ll breath a pleasant sigh when you visit here.
Big selection. Good to great quality range of items. Prices range too. Some things may be a little over priced in my opinion, probably due to the financial district location.
Swedish fish are always fresh (if you’ve ever had a stale fish, you know what I’m talklin’ about).
Super friendly, helpful, patient staff.
Why are there not more shops like this around?!

I LOVE this little shop (as much for the goodies as for the friendly, helpful service). They have a FANTASTIC selection of chocolate goodies that are incredibly decadent (peanut butter stuffed chocolate chip cookies covered in milk chocolate, chocolate covered twinkies!!!) and as noted before — not cheap. BUT the quality is excellent — and if you are looking for a Treat (with a capital «T») this is the place to come. They also have all sorts of other candies: jelly bellies, M&M’s in every color, great gift-​type items — it really is worth going in.
The service is also wonderful — they are very friendly (sometimes offering free samples!) and do not lurk over you while you gawk at the goods. I am more than happy to spend my money here!!!

Ok… so I didn’t go here for the chocolate (so sue me). They had a huge ‘slushy’ sign in the front of the shop. I was hot, and tired. Frozen sugar seemed like a good idea at the time. I got the root beer. It was ok… not great. At 2.75, a bit pricey for the limited enjoyment. Two bites and I was sort of at my sugar capacity and still had a cups worth left
I won’t be back for the slushy.
The chocolate selection looked good (and pricey). This seems like a nice place with friendly service. Good for getting someone that extra special box of chocolates.
