So the positives: food quality was very good. Crab cakes and sauce well done as well as A1 salad had nice light vinaigrette. Seafood ravioli on point. Now the negatives. One person hosting taking drink orders and bussing tables with another doing bread service is not enough. Shame on the Hyatt for putting your employees in this position. Great job on food!

Staying in the hotel so the only positive is its convenience. The food sucked, the service sucked, the prices suck. Do yourself a favor and go outside of the hotel for a meal.

I recently dined at this restaurant before the theater. My party specifically chose this venue because the menu stated: «Before placing your order, please inform your server if a person in your party has a food allergy. « Two of the women in our party have food allergies and specifically ordered the way it needed to be prepared. The waitress, Kyra, took our orders without writing it down. Surprise; neither meal was prepared as ordered. Dangerous for those with food allergies!!! We spoke with Kyra who immediately had an attitude because we asked to speak with the manager. The manager offered to have the steak made correctly without butter on it(as it was previously ordered), which left that person in our party eating after everyone else. The other individual in our party was not happy with just removing the sweet chutney from the top of the swordfish(because it was specifically ordered without it due to allergies). At that point, she had lost her appetite and just asked that it be removed from the bill. Which the manager did, but the evening was essentially ruined. The other member of waitstaff assigned to our table was bent over backward to accommodate us but the damage was done. And Kyra just continued to make matters worse. One of us had a prefix dinner that included coffee and dessert. Kyra managed to bring it to our table, but she never even asked if anyone else would like coffee or dessert. She just left it there and exited WITHANEYEROLL. We patiently watched the lone person enjoy her dessert. She pointed out a small engraving on the spoon which we thought was pretty interesting. Apparently, Kyra saw us all looking at the spoon and came over in a huff to ask ‘WHAT’S WRONGNOW?!» That’s when one of my friends said, «You could’ve at least asked all of us if we wanted coffee and dessert.» She didn’t say a word. She just rolled her eyes and walked away. Extremely unprofessional. After contacting the hotel manager about this incident, I was told that they spoke to her that evening about her professionalism and the restaurant manager had taken care of things. I’m shocked she still works there. Never, in all my years of dining have I encountered someone so rude. I WILLNEVERGOBACKTOTHISPLACE!

Our fifth or sixth time coming here for dinner before the theater. We have to give it an outstanding review first for the staff. Especially Klarens who has been our waiter many times. He goes way beyond extraordinary service. The food is always delicious and the different homemade bread and butters they serve are incredible.

We both had the steak frites with garlic parm fries. The steak was fantastic. Fries done just right and the broccolini was a nice touch. I had a jack and coke and my wife had a dirty martini and the martini was perfect. Molten cake for desert was perfect. A++

*Live music in the outdoor patio *super friendly staff! *Vegetarian friendly. They graciously accommodated our dietary restrictions and got us enough veggie food to share between 4 people. The food was super delicious. We ordered a risotto, grilled cheese, fries, hearts of palm salad and one more dish I cannot remember for the life of me. I wish they had outdoor heat lamps or some sort of fire, because it was a tad chilly. I’d definitely go back again and even recommend it to friends.

I found myself in downtown Boston and was looking for a quiet patio to check out; after talking to a valet I tried the Patio at Avenue One. It was great outside! Norman made some fantastic drinks(little too much ginger though) and we ordered some food off the Terrace menu. We really enjoyed the short rib sliders & the steak sandwich. Will be back again!

This review is for the Avenue One Restaurant located inside the Hyatt Regency Hotel. I’ve also posted this in the Hyatt Regency hotel page on Unilocal. I was surprised by the hotel food as being very tasty. The crab cakes are really delicious among the the menu items. I normally don’t eat crab cakes and often steer away from it whenever possible. But a friend of mines convinced me to try it and I really enjoyed it. Other than that, service is really great inside the restaurant. Our waitress was really attentive, nice and very accommodating. The atmosphere is modern, nice and from what other Unilocalers have said, it has been remodeled/redecorated. It was quiet when we went, not a lot of people in the restaurant and I have been here several times. Weekday nights are pretty good for a low key, low noise level atmosphere. The take out boxes could use an improvement as they don’t fit into the shopping bag that come along with it. Often times it is awkward or the containers tip to the side when in the bag.

I decided to come here for a lovely date only to be disappointed. For a restaurant with this sort of price range, I expected more. Not only was the food a disappointment but also service was absolutely horrible. This restaurant really needs Food Network’s Restaurant Stakeout to come for some intervention! Food: I had the lobster and crab fondue for appetizer. I thought the appetizer was pretty good. The fondue was more creamy than cheesy. There were big chunks of lobster in it. The taste was really flavorful. It comes with baguette crispy yet soft slices to dip in the fondue. For my entrée, I ordered the NY sirloin steak and the order comes with toppings, sauce, and a side. I topped it with zucchini and onions, with soy honey glaze, and quinoa risotto as the side. I requested the steak to be medium rare, however, it came out to be medium well. The soy honey glaze was a little overpowering. It was too salty and lacked the honey flavor I was looking for. Drinks: I ordered the diamond sangria(red). It tasted delicious. But was a little weak: P. Dealing with the horrible service at this restaurant, I wished I had a few more drinks. Service: I do not know where to start. The service here was so horrible. It took over 10 minutes after we were seated before our server came to ask us for our drinks. Our server was friendly but she was always nowhere to be found throughout the whole time I was dining at the restaurant. The appetizer took forever to be served. Then the entrée took even more time. Come to think of it, maybe my steak was actually cooked to medium rare but because the server did not bring it immediately and was sitting in the kitchen for so long that it became medium well. What had been a hour long dinner became almost 2 hours + long! The important part is the restaurant was not busy at all! There was probably 5 tables max with 3 servers working! After dinner and it was time for our check, we also waited patiently for our server to come. However, we gave up waiting and decided to go up to the front of the restaurant to pay only to learn that the hostess was disappeared also! When we finally found our server, she gave us our check and added 18% gratuity to our bill. I am pretty sure she knows how bad of a server she was and was afraid that we would not leave her any tips. Atmosphere: I really liked the tall ceilings and the ambiance and décor of this restaurant. The furnitures are also really nice. But I just wish the service and food could actually match the atmosphere of this restaurant.

Avenue One Terrace is a nice hotel bar in Boston’s Hyatt Regency hotel. Situated on the Lobby floor, this bar/restaurant has a very open feel, where you can sit at the bar, or lounge at the couches/tables that surround it. Hubby and I decided to stop here as a pre-dinner happy hour to see what we could conjour up! I had the Boston Tea Party, which should have been my after-dinner drink rather than before. Hubby had the Boston mint julep, as he’s been on a mint julep kick as of late. I really enjoyed my Tea Party. It was a rebellion of rich and chocolate in my mouth. Hubby enjoyed his julep at first but later thought it was a little sweet for his taste. Overall though, the bartenders were attentive and provided us with prompt, excellent service.

Had dinner here before a Boston Ballet performance. A great option if attending the ballet. Food was good, well prepared and thoughtfully paired into a three course pre-theatre menu. Service was a bit slow and unattentive. Had a 6:00 pm reservation and we didn’t get through dessert by 7:15 pm. After the show you can return for your dessert so it was ok. Nice ambiance for dining with a date.

The breakfast buffet was okay. Great fresh fruit. Good eggs and bacon. Large selection available. Really nice décor in the dining area. Cool room dividers, an interesting large screen display on the one wall and calming lavender colours make for a modern feel. Brekkie maybe 3.8÷4 I got room service dinner from here. I ordered off the create your own menu and got 6oz of salmon in a roasted pear, honey and pepper sauce. I also got a side of seasonal veggie hash — the chef prepared it all in the same dish and it was wonderful! The create your own menu is part of the Healthy Balance menu. Dinner definitely 5.

Since Boston is limited to outdoor areas, this is an ok location to get that 15 minutes of fame for the outdoor bar life. The hotel has completed a lot of makeovers and I like the new décor they have added for Avenue One. Service is ok and there is limited seating. I really like how they have live music here but it’s hard to avoid the tall buildings and obnoxious vents that surround the rooftop but what can you do, you’re in a city! It doesn’t get too crowded and it’s mostly visitors or after work people meeting up with their clients.

Came out to the roof deck here, which until then was a complete unknown to me after working in this area for years. It is located on the third floor of the Hyatt. The servers for the event were friendly and quick. I loved their bar apps. Especially their lobster mac ‘n’ cheese. I also really liked the sangria, definitely worth getting again.

I wish we’d been able to go outside. Alas, as our Miss Thing about Town put it, it was«boiling lava hot», so we went inside to use her groupon. Part of me is glad we did, because we wouldn’t have gotten to seen the hottest mess I’ve seen in a long time at a bar: a middle aged couple making out with full-on tongues in ears and what not, and the perfect topper to the end of that session when the lady said«Nice to have met you» as she left the guy at the bar playing with his blackberry. Our bartender was about a 40-watt, but he kept the beers coming, even if he did forget what I was drinking every time he pulled me a new one. The bar bites, however, were delicious. The tender and well-prepared steak tip appetizer came with a lovely cheese fondue which we misappropriated in our quest to create Cholestotron, the evil robot that slams your arteries shut. Together with Old Bay fries, the delicious white wine and butter sauce that accompanied the tender and perfect shrimp scampi, and some grated parmesan cheese, we brought Cholestotron to life and he had his wicked ways with our LDLs. In SUCH a good way. Next time I want to bask in the warmth, though. I hear the roof deck is where it’s at.

My first experience at Avenue One Terrace was great. Perfect early summer weather, perfect tunes, perfect drinks. As has been stated, this is not a roofdeck, but that’s cool with me. The live music keeps out the hustle and bustle of Chinatown/Theater District and creates a really nice atmosphere. The chef bites($ 4 on Thursdays and Friday from 5 – 7) are delish. I really liked the eggplant in filo dough and the fish tacos were tasty, although messy. $ 4 Dos Equis are always on tap, meaning that this is a nice cheap way to start out a Thursday or Friday night with friends, lovers, and second cousins. The service here is on point. My waitress was constantly bringing glasses of red sangria(deliciously dangerous) and she showed up exactly when she was needed. The specialty drink menu looks pretty awesome, I had the Sapphire Tea. Tea and Gin? This is going to be a great summer.

Nope. There’s no view. None. That’s ok. That’s actually better than ok. Did you really want to sip your craft cocktail or eat your delicious tapas while enjoying the sights and sounds of the outskirts of Chinatown? Didn’t think so. Moreover, do you want the hustlers and bustlers of Chinatown staring at you while you make merry? Didn’t think so either. The secluded nature of the terrace works in its favor-You get all the breeziness of outdoor seating but you still get the more private atmosphere of a cocktail lounge. Come late July, when you want to enjoy the weather but you don’t want to sweat in your suit coat or pumps or whatever your post work gear may be, you’ll be thanking me for recommending this shady paradise. White sangria was good, red sangria was great. Sapphire tea(an iced tea made with, you guessed it, Bombay Sapphire-be still my heart!) was an excellent combination of refreshing and lethal-perfect for celebrating the end of a stressful work week. I’ll never complain about $ 4.00 Dos Equis or $ 4.00 bar bites either, especially when they are served by the sweetest little waitstaff around(That made me sound like a dirty old man. I’m not. Quite the opposite-check the picture. Still, I stand by my original statement. These girls rule.) Bottom line-The terrace offers it all-outdoor seating, an upscale vibe and cheap eats and drinks. People should be scaling the building to be a part of my little cave of happy hour fun… but please don’t, it might be a little difficult to find but I assure you the elevator is a far better option.

Came here last night(Monday) for dinner. Despite it being Restaurant Week it was pretty empty at 8:30. The restaurant is nice. Cool décor, really high ceilings and really open. They were out of our first choice of wine so had to settle for second choice. For an apetizer we both got the chicken tortilla soup which I thought was good. It came with the broth in a separate little collander which I thought was cool. It did say there was avocado in it — and if there was it was very little of it. For dinner I got the roasted chicken. It was really tender and came with camelized onions — delicious. It also came with a side of mashed potatoes — not amazing, but good. My date got the fisherman’s pie. It seemed pretty interesting — shrimp, cod, scallops, and lobster topped with parmesan crusted mashed potatoes. He said it was definitely different — good but again not amazing. For dessert I chose some pear cobbler type of thing. We probably should have tried it as soon as it came out when it was still warm. We let it sit for a while so that was probably the reason for it not tasting too good. All in all, good food, great service, and a cool spot for a nice dinner.

The atmosphere and well-versed staff of Avenue One deserve high marks. My husband and I were greeted by a very friendly host, and our server was personable and knowledgeable; my questions about a few menu items were no problem for him to answer. Our appetizers arrived — the cheese plate for me, featuring three Cheddars, fruit, and ciabatta bread, and the poached shrimp with horseradish aioli for my husband. The food was just lovely, as was the garlic bread with butter. My cheese plate was a range of mild to very sharp Cheddar, and the presentation was gorgeous despite the plate being long and awkward on our little table. My husband’s shrimp was very tasty, and the horseradish aioli was fresh and pungent without being overpowering. Unfortunately, the main entrees did not live up to our expectations. I ordered a sirloin steak with caramelized onions and broccoli rabe; the steak was cooked correctly and had a good crust, but was far too chewy, even for a sirloin. The broccoli was cold. I also ordered the risotto, which was stiff and unpalatable. My husband ordered the salmon, which was presented in a honey-soy glaze over brown rice with bok choy. It had a great taste and sufficient spice, but was overcooked. Dessert was fantastic — we shared the Eggnog Cheesecake, which was velvety and very rich, and perfect for sharing. Our server did not seem to notice that I did not eat much of my dinner, but remained polite and friendly despite the oversight. I wouldn’t completely write off Avenue One. It definitely has potential for a great date-night dinner, but it really missed the mark with both the salmon and steak over Valentine’s Day weekend.

Rooftop bar? Nope As the name says — Terrace! There isn’t any view — just the bricks of the building. I just had a Stella here so I can’t really comment much besides the atmosphere which was just dull. Not a place that I would hang for drinks.
