Jennifer Bennett!!! Aisha, Steve at the Berkeley property in Arlington, VA. We can’t even begin to express how horribly unreasonable these people are! They send us a water bill of $ 2500 on an unoccupied condo claiming that it was due to a small leak in the toilet. We got it inspected twice by a plumber and they didn’t how such a small leak could lead to thousands of gallons of water being leaked. The point is that these people especially this person Jennifer Bennet was not humane in any level to reason. She simply threatened us if we don’t pay. Just horrible people that should be fired because nobody will live a property that is managed by monsters like them!

Very dissatisfied by management company because they don’t care about residents but only about their bottom line. Worst managers we’ve had have been from this company.

I live in a building in Washington, DC that is managed by Barkan Management. My building had a pipe issue on the roof, that led to water dripping from the roof down and inside my drywall. Barkan management came and put de-​humidifiers and cut-​out sections of my drywall. I was happy that at first that they seemed on top of the problem, however, there has been no action since then. It’s going on 3 weeks. I’ve sent numerous emails to the building manager and his boss, both employees of Barkan Management, but have gotten no responses. I taped cardboard to cover sections of drywall so mice can’t get in. I hope my issue gets resolved soon, but I am currently so upset that I have to leave them a bad review.

Horrible on all levels. All employees don’t seem to have a shred of decency and or any level of professionalism. Will never again chose any property managed by this group.

I live on a property that is managed by them for many years and I can tell you they must have gathered all the worst human beings to work at the same place.
Let me start with corporate, the receptionist is a total b! tch. She doesn’t want to hear your concerns and quickly flips you to someone else. I must have been interrupting her morning internet surfing or something for her to be so nasty. She «connects» me to my property manager, which I might add is a rolling list of recent college graduates since the name changes every year.
Believe me, I would rather watch paint dry than to contact these foul people. I would only think they are nice to you if you were a client about to invest with them but if you’re a resident of their properties, you’re getting the worst customer service of your life.
I do not like them and the amount we pay in fees versus the amount of service we get leads me to believe someone is pocketing the difference. The neighborhood is a dump and the maintenance of the area is half-​assed. If you do consider to purchase a place managed by them, be careful.

I’m a bit surprised to see other negative reviews for this management company based on isolated oddball circumstances, but just wanted to put my two cents in…
My building/​association was poorly managed by our prior property manager, and we were simply blown away by the swift and effective management style of Barkan. Their service/​management fees are reasonable by comparison to other property managers, and they have a pretty deep bench with respect to all areas of property management. Our building always receives high marks for its overall well-​maintained condition and for being so well managed.

This company is entirely unprofessional and expensive to boot.
My condominium fee is $ 800./ month and the Barkan doorman in my building asked me last night, in jest, if I have any illegitimate children.
When I reported it to the concierge, she laughed.

Bakran could be the worst management company on earth. I live in an apartment complex that was recently purchased by Bakran. The employees are extremely RUDE and do not care about the well-​being of the residents in our building. They immediately implemented new policies that made life much more difficult in my building. They also raised rent to the highest levels in the city I live (Providence). For the same or comparable rent, I could have lived in a brand new, basically 5-​star building downtown.
If this company is involved in anyway in a project, I would STRONGLY advise NOT living there.

i just had a fun interaction with an employee of barkan management while i happened to be at home and Unilocaling– so why not Unilocal about it, right?
i live in a suburbian condo community that is managed by this company. i heard a loud knock on my door which scared the heck out of me because, again, i live in the suburbs and it’s always quiet out here. we also have a buzzer downstairs, so there shouldn’t be anyone wandering my building. anyway, loud obnoxious knocking continued, and i asked several times «who is it?» to a gruff looking man staring back as i peered into the peephole. i don’t know what your momma taught you, but i don’t even have one of those little chains and i sure wasn’t going to open my door for a strange man who wasn’t identifying himself. he continued to knock for about three minutes and finally i went out the side door and met him at the front. as soon as he sees me, he shouts «pick those up, they shouldn’t be there!» pointing at a pair of sandy flip flops i had left outside my door and walks away.
sure he’s just doing his job… an odd one, in my opinion (is he really checking up on all 800+ units?). but wow, this man seriously lacked common sense and any personal skills. he is the first interaction i’ve had with anyone from this company and if he is a reflection on them, i would not recommend them! first of all, he should know to identify himself especially to a woman (and i’m SURE he heard me ask, which is why he continued to knock) and there was no reason to shout at me in front of my own home. a simple reminder of the rules or even a note would have sufficed. so, to the people of barkan management, maybe some employee training is in order? thanks.
