Beantown Chimney Sweep

Working with this company has been a headache. I called them to do a sweep and then give me an estimate for some additional masonry work that was needed. The sweep was $ 150 more than what they told me over the phone. I could get over that, but the guy left without giving me the estimate, saying I would get a call the next day. Usually they give you the estimate right then and there, so I thought that was a little strange. I never got the call. I called them several times and each time they insisted thy would email me the estimate the next day. Finally I sent them an email to make sure they had my email address so that would stop being used as an excuse.
Three weeks later my email gets responded to with «Did anyone ever give you the estimate?» I said no, please just give it to me. A day goes by and then I get another response that says they’ll email it to me monday. Now it’s been 4 weeks and guess what, I never got that estimate. At this point there is no way in hell I would ever hire them. Just imagine if there was a problem with the work they did and you needed to contact them.

I wouldn’t recommend this company at all, they rescheduled an appointment last minute they had with us and then showed up late to the new appointment. The gentleman who came was not very friendly/​professional at all! Also seemed a little overpriced. I will look elsewhere!

Decided to use this company based on their good reviews. Will not use them again. Our first appointment was rescheduled last minute because they didn’t have the equipment they needed. The next appointment, no one showed up even though I had called to confirm that morning (aren’t they supposed to call to confirm?). Finally they came after i made many phone calls to them trying to get an answer. The guy showed up only to find a mistake the last person made and told us he would come back to fix for free. No show again… twice. Also, no phone call from a manager after I left numerous messages for the manager to contact me. Extremely unprofessional!

I recently purchased a condo with a wood-​burning fireplace; the home inspector strongly encouraged me to have it professionally cleaned before use. Poking around the internet for providers, I saw that Beantown Chimney Sweep had a perfect 5-​star Unilocal rating, so I figured I’d give them a shot. I was not disappointed. The woman I spoke to on the phone for scheduling was super friendly and helpful with the scheduling (including giving me a confirmation reminder call the day before). And the two-​man team of Gary and Nick that came to perform the service was equally professional. They gave me a heads-​up call when they were en route, as I had requested, and they showed up within 10 minutes of the start of promised arrival window. Gary gave me a complete explanation of the features and working of my fireplace (which is a factory-​built insert, rather than a traditional masonry kind like I was familiar with) and furthermore examined my basement to check the furnace flue liner as well as the fireplace one, all as part of the comprehensive service. His patience in answering all of my questions was really appreciated, as I feel like not only did I get my fireplace cleaned, I also received a gratis lesson in how my house’s systems actually work.
They did the job in under an hour, and the cost was exactly what I had been quoted. And not a spot of ash or soot could be found in their wake. A job excellently done!

Just had Beantown Chimney come and clean our chimney and can’t say enough good things. Scheduling was fast, everyone I spoke too was polite and Gary spent alot of time with us explaining the process and the repairs that were needed. Very courteous, professional and did a great job!

We just bought an old house in Newton with a pretty suspect fireplace and chimney. Gary and his crew just finished fixing everything up. They were incredibly courteous and professional, charged a fair price, and did a fantastic job. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

Don’t bother. I called this company and left a message with their answering service more than a week ago and they never called me back.

I scheduled an appointment to inspect my chimney (fairly newly purchased house). He showed up on time, gave a courtesy call, and was very pleasant in person. He cleaned up afterwards and left recommendations on some work that the chimney desperately needed. The quotes were reasonable and even provided instruction on some work that I could do myself to save costs. I’ll be coming here for all my chimney needs from now on.

I don’t have nearly enough words to describe how wonderful my experience with these guys was. I had Gary over to do a chimney sweep; he took one look at it and said, «I’m not charging you for this, this chimney is perfectly clean.» (we just bought the house and wanted to thing swept before the winter). It did, however, need some work done to it. Gary’s estimate was literally half of what some other company’s wanted and hundreds less than others. His work was professionally done, he cleaned up after himself and we couldn’t be happier with the results. You can believe that I will be calling him next year for our annual sweeping.

Fantastic! I was dreading getting my chimney cleaned. If I had known it was going to be this painless, I would have done it much sooner! Ian and Gary were professional and very clean. They will alert you to any issues in your chimney and let you know about anything to keep and eye on in future. Their price of $ 169 was very reasonable.

We moved into our house a few years ago, and contacted Beantown Chimney sweep for an inspection and cleaning. They recommended we install a chimney cap to keep out rain and wildlife, because we did have feathers in the downstairs fireplace when we moved in.
The technicians, Ian and Gary were extremely informative, professional and pleasant. They explained the workings and design of our 3-​flu /​2 fireplace situation. They outlined our options for maintenance and improvement honestly and with no pressure.
We did have some unusual issues with smoke, and they worked with us to resolve the problem. They came back twice and demonstrated an effort to correct the problem and insure that were happy. It is true that Beantown Chimney sweep goes above and beyond to satisfy their customers. We are very happy that we chose them and will highly recommend Beantown Chimney to our friends and family.

In the last storm some bricks fell into the chimney and shook loose *decades* of soot from the oil boiler in our 3 family home. Beantown was terrific on the phone, explaining the options, costs, and helping decide on whether I wanted emergency or standard service. There was no pressure or upsell, just helpful information.
When they came out, they called before they arrived, showed up on time, assessed what I needed and got to work. Nice guys, smart and professional. We decided on some short term steps with bigger work (a liner and remortaring some parts) in the future.
I highly recommend you clean your chimney regularly and you call Beantown.
