Beauge’s Tailoring Alterations For Men & Women

PHENOMENAL. Best way I can describe this tailor. I had him tailor my reception dress and it came out looking like a million bucks. He also did this in less than a week. All Fit, whom I choose to alter my rehearsal dress, took over a month to do and when I picked it up, still had work to be done that they forgot about. Beauge’s is the place to go for all your tailoring needs!

Mr. Beauge is the BEST tailor in Boston. I lived in Boston in 2014, recently moved back and was quick to return. I am 4’10 with a very small frame and Mr. Beauge tailors all of my clothes to a perfect fit. Not only does he hem my dresses, pants, etc. in length, but also tailors them in the hips, waist, shoulders for an absolutely perfect fit. He is so friendly and his shop is so organized and clean, also conveniently open on Saturdays! I highly recommend him!

I have been to Beauge a few times and the job /​service has been fine thus far. But this week I brought in a nice shirt for him to shorten for me, and he took off way too much material. We agreed on a length, and he simply cut too much off. I’m probably going to just toss the shirt in the trash at this point since it looks so ridiculous. If he agrees to pay for the shirt, I’ll remove this review. Call me a pessimist but I doubt he’ll be eager to pay despite that something went horribly wrong on his end. If he does not, review stays and he loses me as a customer permanently.

Best tailor in Boston. I now take all my suits to Mr. Beauge for tailoring and my wife has never been happier with the tailoring that he has done for her as well. Friendly service who works carefully with you to get the best fit possible. His skill is really second to none.

I went get both of my bridesmaid dress done and both dress fit perfectly! My friend had the same bridesmaid dress and she went to David’s bridal and they charged her 100 becAsue it’s rushed to get things done with in a week. All they done is just trim the bottom. I got my dress sizes and trimmed and he even put a bra in so the dress wouldn’t fall down and was under 200! And it was done with in a week! I cannot be happier! The other dress was brought from my friend from India and I asked tiger the shoulder longer and bust fitted and dress fitted me like a glove.

I have been using B as a tailor for seven years now. He is by far the best — from jackets to pants to dresses (and sadly simple buttons being re-​sewn on since I can’t even do that!), he does a phenomenal job. Some advice — call the day before or morning of picking up your stuff to make sure he has it done or will finish it in time.

I ordered a custom onesie for my daughter’s first birthday. I realized the day before that the onesie was too big so I tried to call several different tailors to see if they can cut the onesie to turn it into a shirt. I finally called this place and the owner told me to bring it in to see what they can do. I explained the situation and he did not hesitate and told me to come back by 1pm. I came back and he did an awesome job and gave it to my daughter as a gift for free. I would recommend anyone to this place as they did an awesome job and provide great customer service.

I had wildly varying experiences with Mr. Beauge. I had one dress tailored, two dresses hemmed, one dress cleaned, and a pair of pants hemmed. It has been three months and while the dresses look great, the hem on the pants has come undone. It almost looks like he sewed in a placeholder stitch temporarily, and then forgot to go back and sew the «final version.» This, combined with the fact that my total came to ~$ 140 (he knocked off some due to my dry-​cleaned dress being late) has left me feeling less than satisfied.
I will definitely consider him for more complex jobs, and my tailored dress really does look excellent. However, for smaller things (buttons, hems), I will probably just bring them to my local dry-​cleaner since it’s cheaper. Mr. Beauge himself is a gentleman and clearly very talented.

Efficient, friendly, and reasonable. The location is a bit hard to get to in a car, especially with «no stopping» signs all about. I took a chance and put my flashers on outside the building. I exited to a policeman just scratching his head, but no ticket. :)

I had him alter a men’s suit and some pants. He did a good job. One time the item was not ready but he performed the task quickly.
I will keep using his services because he does a good job, price is reasonable, and location is convenient. Only tip is that I would call ahead and ensure that the job has been done prior to going.

Great tailor. I highly recommend. I agree with the other reviews. There are some challenges around timing and hitting deadlines. However it’s worth it for the quality and craftsmanship.

Beauge is the finest tailor I have ever met. I started going to him in 2006 at the recommendation from a clothing salesman, and found him to do amazing work. He is very focused on details, he genuinely is passionate about his work quality, and gives honest advice. Quite frankly, he is the only tailor I will go to. As a testement to his work, I no longer live in the area but brought 2 suits when I was in the area (has to be over a year ago) and was willing to wait until I came back (which was unclear), just to have him work on them. It is rare to find people who can operate at such a high level of quality.
Some of the negative reviews here center around his timing, and lateness. That is not untrue. But honestly, his quality is unmatched, and that is not something that can be rushed.

After 1 tailor was closed due to being on vacation, I found Beague’s online and raced over there on a Saturday. By the time I arrived there I had gotten paint on my new suit. Beague’s, dry cleaned the suit and altered it for me perfectly. Their prices are competitive and they are very personable and in good spirits. Moving forward I will bring all of my tailoring to them because of they came through in the clutch for me.

Sure, he is good at tailoring. However, he is fu**king AWFUL at telling you when to come by to pick up your shit.
Dropped off a jacket on Wednesday which had a rip in it — could be fixed very easily. He told me to come back on Friday, which was perfect since I needed it before I went to NYC for the weekend.
I go to him during my lunch break on Friday — he said it wasn’t ready. I accept the fact that I won’t look fresh as hell in NYC, and tell him I’ll come back on Monday.
I come back again on Monday during my lunch break, and sure enough, he says «You’re going to kill me… I didn’t stitch your jacket.» I did have a slight urge to kill him, but I let it go.
I come again… on Tuesday. It’s STILL not done. He tells me to just wait 10 mins and he’ll stitch it right there. I wait 15 and then decide I need to go back to work and I’ll come back on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, its FINALLY done. I’m expecting some type of discount since he made me wait a week when he said it was going to be done in 2 days, but of course not.
Then, to top it all off, I look at my debit card activity and notice that he charged me twice. Just wonderful.

He does great work. I brought in a suit that looked «OK» on me, at first I was thinking I just needed the sleeves shortened, but he suggested taking them in, along with the body of the jacket, and the shoulders. Many tailors won’t even touch shoulders on a jacket as it’s very tricky and time intensive.
I am blown away by how much better the jacket looks on me now. Now I’m realizing how much better all my other suit jackets could look on me, and will probably be bringing in more stuff. Total alterations came to $ 135, so not exactly cheap, but the difference is night and day, and absolutely worth it. The jacket was also done in 5 days, right when he said it would be ready. Top notch work quality, and customer service — super nice guy. Highly recommended!

I can not praise Mr. Beauge enough. I’ve had a bridesmaid’s dress and a regular bodycon dress altered and neither looked like he even laid a finger on them… except that they fit perfectly now. Imagine trying on a dress at a store that you fall in love with, but it just doesn’t fit right in a couple areas. Who actually thinks about buying it and bringing it to a tailor, especially when you need it for the next night… Well, I did and I crossed my fingers he could fit it in. He puts in four pins when I try it on for him and he says I’ll see him tomorrow. Not only did he finish it the next day, he did an awesome job. Didn’t even need to try it on again when I picked it up, because he’s that good.
Bonus points for the fact that he’s always kind and smiling!

Really, truly the best tailor in Boston.
Over the course of the years, I’ve always brought every new suit to Beauge’s and they are tailored perfectly every time. He gives you his honest opinion on what to do and has been doing this for 30+ years, so trust his judgement!
So here is why I’m writing the review. Over the past few months, I’ve lost some weight, so I brought in a bunch of suits, blazers and pants to have him work on. These things were BAGGY with the weight loss. I picked some of them up today and cannot get over how great they look. This guy is unbelievable! I thought there was no way they could be salvaged and they look better than ever.
One other thing I want to point out: he is more concerned with doing the right thing and making his customers happy than making profits. He will tell you when it is time to take what it would cost for tailoring and spend it on a new suit. Just a really great, nice, and honest guy. Combine that with how good of a job he does and you’d be crazy to go anywhere else!
Once you have him work on a couple things, you will be hooked. Peerless level of quality.
So go into 15 Court Sq (not St) and walk straight to the elevator. Hit the down button and take a left off the elevator. You will be looking significantly better in your clothes in a week or two.

This guy is a best!!! Super cheap and fast. A friend of mine recommended him because she and her wife both had their wedding dresses done here and loved his work and his price point.
I was in a two weddings this past summer and brought both my bridesmaids dresses to Mr. Beauge. I was in and out in less than 10 min each time. Two dresses done in essentially a week for less than $ 85. The dresses fit like a glove. Not to shabby! I would absolutely recommend him and I will be back to him soon with more business.

I was initially skeptical of all of these positive reviews («Only 24?») but I’m happy to add to the parade of five stars, and I really don’t think this is selection bias. I had to get two bridesmaids dresses tailored (one with relatively short notice), and after perusing Unilocal (seriously, perusing) I found this review. Mr. Beauge did an excellent job. We had to adjust the second dress a second time, and he actually told me I didn’t have to pay for either dress until both of them were done. What other reviewers have said about Mr. Beauge being a style consultant is true, he actually suggested the changes the wedding planner had asked us to do, prior to my mentioning. The prices are really reasonable, and after seeing my alterations, the other Boston-​based bridesmaids told me that they wished I had told them earlier so that they could go here, instead of shops in their neighborhoods. Also, serious compliments from the non-​Boston ones don’t hurt either. :)
The only thing is that the office can be a little difficult to find the first time, but once you do, you’re golden. Trust Mr. Beauge, because he really is as awesome as I (and others) are saying. In fact, while I was there, a bunch of folks cycled through to drop off/​pick up things — he’s really cultivated a group of regulars.

When a place has a solid 5 star rating, there’s so much pressure. You don’t want to rate it 5 stars too, just because all the cool kids are doing it. But you don’t want to rate it lower and ruin everything, either.
Well I’m happy to report that I can rate Mr. Beauge 5 stars, guilt free. He was exactly perfect. I took him my wedding dress from David’s Bridal (reluctant to get it altered there because, let’s face it, they hardly give a shit, and I was sure they would find a way to charge me for every stitch). He fixed the top, took in the middle, and shortened the bottom. He added in a metal clasp where DB had put a thread loop, he took the bra I would wear and added snaps so that it would snap into the dress. He put in a simple bustling system. He ordered me a garment bag at no cost when I mentioned that DB had sent me the dress in just a clear plastic bag like you’d get at the dry cleaner’s.
He refused to tell me what he would charge me up front (which had me worried, except for all the Unilocal reviews and my friend’s recommendation), but told me to trust him and that it wouldn’t be that bad.
The dress looked fantastic. I felt great in it – I have an ample bosom and was worried that a strapless dress would be risky. I mean, my strapless bra was good, but I didn’t think I could do cartwheels in it if necessary. Not to worry. Mr. Beauge fit that dress to me so well I could’ve jumped on a trampoline and nothing would’ve fallen out.
I was so happy with him that midway through the process I sent my fiancée there to get her dress tailored. Two brides? Same-​sex wedding? Mr. Beauge didn’t blink. He charged me an extremely fair and reasonable rate that didn’t come close to being as high as other folks (ahem, various tailors in Brookline) had quoted me. I am super happy with what he did and can’t wait to take other things to him.
