Boston Lindy Hop

I’ve attended several drop-​in beginner workshops on Saturdays with Boston Lindy Hop. They have all been taught by different teachers, and are all great! The material varies depending on the teachers, and some I have enjoyed better than others, hence the 4-​star rating. (Also, parking can be difficult! Taking the T is recommended or parking in the North Station garage.)
If you have never swing danced before, a drop-​in class is a great way to learn enough of the dance to get you out and having fun dancing with lots of different people at any of the social dances in the area. If you’re not a total beginner, the class is still helpful as they talk about movement and lead/​follow dynamics that can help you take your dancing up a notch.
Great place, great material, great instructors, great students. Would highly recommend!

Boston Lindy Hop is my favorite swing studio in Boston. It is absolutely the place to go if you want to simply work on your dancing. All of the instructors are helpful and genuinely encouraging while consistently pushing and challenging their students. Everyone I’ve met is very approachable and friendly — teachers and students. After class, we often eat and drink together, which is a lot of fun.
The Thursday night classes generally assume the students have some background in swing. Boston Lindy Hop also offers monthly Saturday boot camps for brand new dancers; I expect these would be a pretty good introduction to swing dancing if you’ve never tried it before. You absolutely don’t need a partner a priori.
As a new-​ish member of the swing community, I find the Boston Lindy Hop website and Facebook page are good resources for questions about swing dancing, music and history in general. The website always has extensive class descriptions, so it’s usually easy to tell what a class will be like before you sign up. The instructors are also very good about answering questions by email and before/​after class.

The Boston Lindy Hop crew is a great studio. The instructors are fantastic. It’s clear that they put a lot of time and effort into developing their lessons. This shows in their teaching. It’s also obvious that they love the dance and that they love teaching others how to feel more fulfilled in this great hobby.
The students really enjoy themselves and are equally dedicated to learning and practicing. If you are curious about what swing dancing is, or if you’ve already been swing dancing for a while and you want to get more out of your dances, then it’s definitely worthwhile to check out this studio.
It’s a great atmosphere for learning how to swing dance and making new friends. You can sign up with a partner if you want, but you definitely don’t need to have a partner.
