39 years of spectacular celebration and not a single review?! If you don’t know about the Boston POPS Fireworks Spectacular… you are missing out! Pretty much, 4th of July in Boston is to New Years Eve in NYC… if you were to spend 4th of July anywhere, it should be in Boston! The Boston POPS Fireworks Spectacular is what is broadcasted each year on CBS. People camp out days before to grab a good seat by the main stage, where the Boston symphony and many guest musicians come to perform(2012, Jennifer Hudson). Others camp out just to grab a good spot along the Charles River with an open view of the fireworks. Bring food, brings drinks(no alcohol if you’re trying to get into the staged area), plenty of lawn chairs and sunscreen… and be ready for a good time. The actual program lasts about 3 hours; inclusive of the national anthem, sing-a-longs, special performances… and the coveted 20-mins of what are the most breath taking fireworks ever known to man… and synced with music that is playing all along the Charles River. I was lucky enough to be in Boston for the 2012, 4th of July festivities, and had a friend at MIT with access to the MIT Sailing Pavilion(which probably helped make the experience that much better)… despite the thunder and the rain and the delayed/skipped musical production this year, it was and probably will be one of the most memorable things I’ve ever experienced… what a way to spend America’s birthday!
