I’ve come to expect smaller portions of(presumably) higher quality ingredients from my food truck forays. This is typically accompanied with a personable if brisk interaction. In this case: Window staff was very friendly. Food was a bit slow, but if you’re not expecting pre-fab food, you can’t expect a pre-fab prep-time. I had my food by the time my companions that ordered from adjacent trucks did. And in the end, twice the wait would have been worth it. The smoked cod and chorizo sandwich was a good lunchy-portion, and flavor was awesome! Buttery and smoky flavors from the bun and cod, paired with sweet and zesty flavors from the onion and chorizo mash. In full disclosure I think there were grilled onions in there with the sausage, but before I actually checked I realized I’d gobbled down the whole thing. Whatever was in there, it was that good!

One cold, blustery October day, my co-workers and I found ourselves drooling over over the Go Fish! menu in the Charlestown Navy Yard. Minutes later, we were huddled together scarfing down super fresh, piping hot seafood by the pier. — Fried Haddock Sandwich w/roasted red pepper tartar(co-worker’s): Generous hunk of flaky fried haddock. We could see the steam pouring from the sandwich as he unwrapped it. Co-worker confirmed it was as delicious as the lady flirting with him in line had gushed it was. — Smoked Cod Quesadilla(co-worker’s): I was skeptical — wouldn’t the fish be overpowered by the cheese? I tried it, and it was impressively light, gooey with cheesiness and chock full of flaky fish all at the same time. — Smoked Cod and Chorizo Slider(mine): Usually not a fan of smokiness, but it was very complimentary here. Fresh. Little noticeable«filler» stuff like bread crumbs, etc. mixed in, if any. — Lobster bisque(mine): It was the thinner kind, unthickened — The way it should be, some New Englanders insist. Very lobster-y flavor and rich-tasting; could have contained more lobster meat. — Condiments: There’s lots — roasted red pepper tartar, chipotle mayo, and several others. Reaaally good(esp. the chipotle mayo). I tried them all. I was torn between drenching my slider in them and glorying in just my fresh fish. Overall impression of the food: 1. fresh fresh fresh 2. nicely cooked — In my world, overcooked steak and seafood are travesties. All was right — MORE than right — with the world that day. 3. not greasy or heavy — I feel like a lot of seafood around here is often on the heavier side since a lot of it is fried, but this was not the case with Go Fish! It was my second lunch that day, and I still found myself craving more more more.

I chose Go Fish! because cold, foggy days always call for Fish & Chips; that and I’m a fan of food trucks. Their menu is as varied as a fish food truck can be, but the descriptions are worth drooling over, and it tastes as good as it sounds and smells. The beer batter was far from bland with a great flavor to complement the fish, which was cooked as perfectly as this pub favorite can be. What really makes this truck stand out is the array of sauces available, from your commercial Tiger Sauce, vinegar, garlic sauce, etc., but further expanding your options with home-made chipotle aioli, spicy ketchup, and red pepper tartar sauce, all of which are absolutely delicious. Whatever your non-bland taste buds require for fish & chips, they’ve got what you you want. Cooking time is around 5 minutes and probably longer, which for those who are impatient may not suffice, but as far as I’m concerned, that type of wait at a food truck means it’s being cooked to order and not pre-made then re-heated. My only two complaints are(1) that when my co-worker ordered and went to pay with a $ 20, they didn’t have change. I just combined out order to make it easier. The guy more than made up for our«troubles»(which is really wasn’t a big deal to me) by giving us complementary lemonades; I thought that was nice of him and he was very grateful for helping him out. (2) The biggest problem I have(and I do consider this an issue) is that their website listed Fish & Chips at $ 7.95 but it was $ 8.95 at the truck; I cannot confirm if this was a case with the other items, but I think it is fair to assume so. It may only be a dollar, but when you investigate a restaurant’s pricing on their website and it’s different from the actually pricing, that’s pretty deceiving. Overall, I’m a fan of this place, hence the four stars. I’ll definitely go back to try some of their other items and now I know where to go for modestly priced fish & chips that taste great and won’t bleed your wallet. Other places around charge anywhere from $ 13 to $ 18 for their fish & chips, and they usually don’t have the sauce choices like Go Fish! does.

This food truck was stationed near where I was working at The Christian Science Plaza. I wandered over and perused the menu. I do not hardly ever eat anything that swims. That which is in a shell, absolutely, but I do not do fins. Nonethless, I bravely tried the«Seafood fritters with spicy slaw and remoulade». I thought it was great. Seafood fritters as I am sure everyone but me knows are sort of like a crab cake in the sense that all sorts of stuff is mixed into some sort of bread crumb base. The roll was nicely toasted. They have a table of sauces one could add, but when I saw the care that had been put into its creation, I knew I should try it as it was served, and I am glad that I did. No it was not a humongous portion, but it was not tiny either, and I thought something that tasted that good was a pretty good deal at $ 7.95

I decided to give this place a try when the truck was stationed at Milk & Kilby for lunch. The menu looked promising and the line was short, so I parted ways with a few coworkers while they went on to our favorite kabob place, thinking smugly that I’d beat them back to the office. 25 minutes later, I had still not gotten my food. The man working the truck was rude when I asked them if they’d misplaced my order, and the miso salmon wrap rice paper wrap I ordered was fussy and had a distractingly odd sweet flavor, almost like cotton candy. To top it off, the order came to almost 10 dollars when I added an iced tea, which is too expensive for lunch from a truck. Given that the other food trucks that frequent Milk & Kilby are fast, friendly, and offer food that is tasty and simple, I will not be going back to Go Fish!

Let me start by saying I think Go Fish! deserves 3.5 stars, not 3, but alas… Tried a cup of their summer gazpacho and two catfish tacos today at the Food Truck Festival of New England in Brighton. The gazpacho was actually quite nice — flavorful(a bit of heat), complex, and refreshing. The consistency was a bit off; I don’t mind chewing my soup, but the girlfriend is vehemently opposed to it. Yummy croutons on top too(see the picture!). Was really looking forward to the tacos… and was so sadly disappointed. The tortilla was soggy and simply fell apart when we tried to extract the tacos from their plastic confinement. There was way too much veggie/bean/pico filler that completely overwhelmed the otherwise well-cooked fish. I honestly would’ve believed it was a veggie taco had I been blindfolded while eating it. Check out my photo to see the mess. Not a truck I’d seek out in the future unfortunately…

Wish I had a good experience here… would’ve gave it a higher grade. I came here for lunch around 11:40ish only to be 3rd in line waiting for them to open up. Strike one. After 10mins of waiting, they finally are ready… okay no prob since given the reviews here are pretty positive. Tried to order the onions crisp but was told they do not have those that and recommended their«awesome» fries. Strike two. I did what they suggested and got the fries along with the crab lump sandwich. Such disappointment with the crab sandwich. Last I check a sandwich is something smoother between two slices of bread, here I get one… The taste however is good. The fries was okay… nothing special or «awesome». 1st thing that came to my head was.“this dinky thing cost 3 buck! I could’ve gotten this at bk,”. Yes burger king… that was what it taste like and looks like. Strike 3 and I’m done especially after paying over 8 bucks for the sanwich.

They now have a rotation outside of the Hancock Building. Long line, super slow service, saw them lose an order and have trouble with credit cards. They take Belly, which is nice I guess. To the food: crab cake slider was awful. So salty I had to chuck half of it. The catfish taco was pretty good but had almost no catfish in it(catfish is notoriously cheap — they could’ve put a bit more). Also the taco didn’t really come together flavor-wise. Greasy, overfried wonton skins on top. Price was on par with other trucks. Catfish was definitely fresh and moist. I’d try them again, maybe, but it wasn’t great.

Honestly one of the best fried fish sandwiches I have EVER eaten! The fish was perfectly cooked, the brioche bun was buttered and grilled to perfection. The slaw that was on it was tasty, crispy and not too wet, so it didn’t make the bun soggy. Will definitely be back to try other things this summer!

Oh Brother Trucker this is a little bit of a tricky review to write. I’m a little conflicted about how to rate Go Fish truck. I guess I’ll start with the cons since I don’t like ending on sour notes. My biggest gripe is that the portions can be a little light. The salmon wrap is very tasty, but it almost wasn’t fair to call it a salmon wrap with the amount of fish in it. It was more like miso lettuce salad with salmon garnish. With that being said: the slider combo for $ 7.50(ish? I can’t specifically recall but sounds about right) were pretty scrumptious. Afraid getting seafood, especially maybe the shelled variety, off a truck sounds a little… fishy?(cue rimshot) Don’t! The lobster and crab sliders were very good(if you could only get lobster sliders in combo it would be great but only one per order). The cod is pretty good too but I’d stick with the other options(didn’t try the lamb but the truck is Go Fish…) The seafood fritters are good, but with the horse radish sauce side they are amazing. I’d note I only had these at the Food Truck Festival, so not sure price, but they were probably the best savory think I had all day(and I went to… sigh…24 trucks… I’m ashamed of myself…) Go Fish is one of the best food trucks I’ve had the pleasure of dining at in Boston.

The Go Fish truck parks on weekends just steps from my front door and offers fast, relatively inexpensive, high-quality seafood. Clearly, I’m a lucky lady. When they picked a food truck to park in the Navy Yard, they must have known that I’m a seafood-a-holic. Now I can get my fix. I’ve been a few times and never had a bad thing. The lobster rolls/sliders are traditionally yummy. I adore the blue crab sandwich even though it’s insanely rich and decadent and leaves me incapacitated for nearly a day after eating one. The salmon rice wrap is really nice and light. Love the asian flavors all tossed together in one health dish, still allowing the salmon taste to sing. My new favorite dish is the grilled salmon ceasar wrap. Sure, it sounds boring, but they make it so well here. The salmon is seasoned to perfection and blackened so that it has a nice crispy crunch. That with the onion straws — it’s the perfect combination of flavor and texture. The menu is generally fantastic, they have yummy seasonal specials, and offer an array of special sauces for a customized lunch. Sorry guys, gotta knock a star. There are so many technical difficulties with this truck. Often, it is nowhere to be found on the pier at its allotted time. About half the time I’ve been, the credit card machine isn’t working. Did you know that you can buy an iPhone attachment that will allow you to take credit cards with your phone? The trucks all do it at SoWa. There is no excuse for not accepting credit cards.

Best lunch place in the Navy Yard — hands down! The smoked cod/chorizo and lobster slider combo is a 5 star — can’t beat the price too — $ 8 for 3 sliders. The only down side is the wait if it gets busy on a pretty Saturday afternoon. I suggest going at an off hour — 2pm is usually less busy.

This truck just moved into the Government Center rotation, and they are not ready for prime time. I tried this truck once before while it was over in Charlestown. The food was very good, but they seemed to take a while to get it out of the truck. I understand that this is because the food is made fresh to order. Freshness is commendable, and the slow service fit the low pace of a Charlestown food truck, but this does not work well with the Government Center crowd. The line was tremendous and the backlog enormous. I ordered a salmon ceaser wrap, and had to wait about 20 minutes. They had lost my ticket, and were serving people who had ordered behind me. While I was waiting, I saw them screw up at least two other orders, serving people the wrong dishes. They seemed very disorganized, and there were a lot more people standing around waiting than eating. The wrap was decent — it could have used more salmon. It was not worth the wait though. I won’t be going back.

So I’ve been to the truck twice — one time was a 5 star, one time was more of a 3 star. The first time I went I ordered their special which that day was a mahi mahi made with coconut infused rice and mango salsa. I waited about 10 minutes, which for something made fresh — was no big deal. The fish was prepared perfectly and tasted delish. I felt I was eating healthy and yet so enjoying my lunch by the water(here in Charlestown). The price tag was about $ 7.50 — which, honestly, where can you get an awesome meal like that for $ 7.50 — I think Panera costs more people! The second time I went it was a bit more busy. I ordered the wasabi salmon rollup and it took a good amount of time until I was served. I was a bit let down since my first experience was so stellar. My rollup was kinda falling apart and not really a great take-away style food and the taste was mediocre. I still feel like, where can you get a salmon rollup for $ 7.50 otherwise, so it still warrants high praise! I wish Charlestown would allow more food trucks like this — or they should come here more often :) Great addition to the neighborhood lunch options(there aren’t many)

Didn’t know anything about this truck before trying it so I was a bit wary but the fish and chips were great! $ 7.95 got you 3 pieces of perfectly fried fish and a large portion of tasty fries. Yes, it could have used a bit more salt but the fish was delicious and I enjoyed the special tartar sauces they had(although a plain variety would’ve been nice.) Anyway, I was pretty surprised at how good it was and would likely try it again.

I’ve eaten from this truck multiple times, in quite an array of circumstances, and each time the food was great. Served hot and fresh, and tasting just as advertised. Nice and messy too, if you get a sandwich. They may not be the fastest truck in the lot, but I think they do a great job considering their limited space. I know the chef is professionally trained, so he must be torn between putting out the best product possible, while making it work out the back of the truck. Keep it up, we’ll be back!

Love the concept and the quality food for such cheap money. This truck sits outside the Pru next to the Christian Science reflector pool most afternoons. I ordered there for the first time yesterday and loved the service and the quick turnaround time. I was especially pleased with the cleanliness of the truck and the condiment and utensil table over to the side. The selection of condiments was also quite impressive. They had vinegar, oil, red pepper tartar sauce, ketchup, hot sauce… and more. Beautiful presentation of the food, too! I think they sturdy carry-out container was made from recycled materials and they garnished my fish and chips with dried parsley… it looked as great as it tasted. I’m going to try the lobster sliders next!

was making a beeline for Silk Bbq when i saw this new food truck. looked promising so placed an order of fried haddock sammie w/roast pepper tartar. came with a fair bit of filet on grilled buns but lacked seasoning, tartar sauce no discernable flavor. bit pricey for what it was. may try again if catfish on menu.

Go Fish from Brother Trucker is a catering food truck that serves GREATFISH and meals. My first experience was waiting for the bus at the Malden T station and the folks from the truck came by with a bunch of samples of their menu. Let me just first state… fresh fish and more from a truck? My question was answered when I tried their samples. Just to make sure it wasn’t just the sample that was cooked well, a few of us went over to the truck stand that is teal blue located at TJ’s Auto 315 Pleasant St. We ordered the Clam Chowdah, Haddock Sandwich, Grilled Chix — ALL were excellent! Amazing the fresh fried clams and fish was cooked from a truck, but the taste and portion will prove the idea wrong… it is excellent in taste, portion, and cost. Well done
