Very good food, nice place, and average prices. Highly recommended for brunch, and dinner was pretty good too.

Quite a nice place to go and hang out with a bunch of friends. The service was really impressive. Our server was given full liberty to bring in some appetizers of his choice and he did a great job! Of course, like any«grill» most of the choices included fried calamaris, chips etc, the quality of the fried stuff was very good. The spinach and artichoke dip was my personal favorite. For the entre I tried the salmon picatta which was quite flavorful. My friends also liked the risotto of the day which was accompanied by a generous portion of savory scallops… mmm… refreshing right? I would definitely recommend this place for a nice chatty meal. The service and environment are both very friendly. And of course the food is quite delicious! Try it if you are in the area.

This is a review for the drinks(and atmosphere). I went to the restaurant for food such a long time ago that I hardly remember what it was like. I’m sure it was very delicious, though. I went here with my roommate one night to grab a couple of drinks. I walked in and steered left to the bar. What a great layout! I thought the big U-shape of the bar was a very efficient and resourceful way to get in as many seats as possible in a room that size. Sweet! The chandelier was very simple and chic and the lighting was low, but not in a negative way. It created a great atmosphere to relax, and it did not strain my eyeballs to read the menu. Very nice touch! The bartender was a brunette gal who was very friendly and attentive. Big plus. The drinks were delicious. I definitely stuck to a tropical theme, so I knew I was probably going to get something sweet. Just a side note: I usually very much hate sweet drinks. BUT when I got my little piña colada martini, low and behold, I did not feel like I was getting a terrible sugar rush! Yay! Anyone who could throw coconut into a drink without making it too sweet has my heart. Yay! I’m a fan!

Great service again. Spinach and Artichoke Dip is a must have(although the assorted food items that accompany the dip can be improved). BBQ Meatloaf Burger & Fried Haddock Sandwich, both have great flavor and serving size is huge.

YUM! Buffalo Chicken Rangoon!!! Holy tasty apps! Wish I could get these in Chi-town! These were amazing starters! Our service was fabulous! The host/hostess did their jobs well and our server was great! He was back and forth between us and several other tables and never forgot anything. The meatloaf burger tasted like it should, based on the name, and was totally what I wanted! So glad we went wandering around before the game at Fenway and found this great spot! Next time we’re in Boston, this is definitely a place to stop for a bite to eat.

I work around the area and this is one of the better place to go for lunch. Pricey but the food quality and atmosphere is much better than other places. I usually have the pan seared chicken and wild mushroom risotto. I would recommend the Cesar Salad, Burton Burger and the Mediterranean Salad. Key Lime Pie is a MUSTTRY!!! The crust is absolutely delicious.

Does it make me a tool if I tell you that, after splurging at some of the hottest restaurants in Boston, I came to Burtons Grill and liked it, well, better? Don’t judge me. Burtons is kind of a more upscale Applebee’s(chill out — keep reading, I promise). Coming here feels a little dirty deep down in my pretentious-non-chain-restaurants-only soul, but it was just so good! How can you argue with that? Ya just can’t. Grey Goose Orange Pomegranate Martini — well done, Burtons. Fruity and yummy and the alcohol did just what it’s supposed to do. Crab bisque — mmm, so crabby and bisquey. Smooth, rich but not overpowering, nice chunks of crab meat in there. Lobster and shrimp spaghetti. I think this is what Charlie Sheen meant by winning. Huge shrimp, huge and fresh chunks of lobster. I was so full from the bread and the bisque that this enormous plate of pasta should not have been finished. But I had to. finish. every. last. bite. So good. I also tried a few too many bites of meat from the steak frites… no complaints there. My carnivorous dinner mate left very happy. I don’t know, guys. It’s comfy. The food’s good. The cocktails are swell. It may not be «chic,» but can we agree that it’s at least«awesome»? Thank you.

We chose to come here tonight to celebrate during the week-long celebration of my birthday. First, drinks. In typical fashion I opted for a cranberry mojito. It was great. The first and third drinks were better than the second, but the only thing missing from the second was a bit of the fruit. I felt that the rum overpowered the rest of the drink just a tad bit– not even enough to complain about, but who really complains when a beverage is strong, yet still drinkable? Certainly not I. A friend got the Bulleit Manhattan, which looked great(I didn’t try it), and then a lemon drop that filled the air around it with a very pleasant lemony odor. The Bombay Sapphire and tonics were also perfectly mixed. Our appetizer was the gluten free Calamari. It came out quickly and tasted great. I really liked that the mini-squids were small. I am not a fan of them being too large and overpowering. I know it’s the same exact thing, but something about the arms just get me. For my meal I had the steak sandwich with a side of fries. Talk about small victory! I haven’t had french fries out to eat in MONTHS. It was like heaven! The steak was nice and tender, cooked perfectly. The bread was a tasty and very non-typical gluten free bun, and I wish I thought to ask about it. Just when I didn’t think my meal could get better, they offered a gluten free Crème Brulee. Way better than birthday cake, if you ask me. Our waiter was AWESOME. Aside from being personable and nice, he was accommodating. This goes far when you have people with food allergies, and I wish a lot of the restaurants/bars that don’t know how to do it right would take a lesson from the staff at Burton’s. All of our questions, no matter how mundane, were checked and double-checked. Given the fact that we knew they took their gluten free menu seriously, this didn’t come as a surprise. Our service was also great. Our waiter had a great balance of table presence– we definitely weren’t ever looking for him for anything. He showed up at the right time every time, like there was a homing device on our table that let him know when our drinks needed refilling. He was also very personable. You could tell that he liked his job and was happy. He had great conversation and was able to give a little of the joking around back to us. I wish I remembered his name, because he was awesome. I will definitely come back here, and highly recommend it to anyone who is gluten free that misses the small comforts of being able to go to a bar and have a burger and fries, or who is looking for something a bit more sophisticated.

I took my parents here while they were visiting me, and we all really enjoyed our food. My dad had fish, I had scallops(a huge portion of them; I thought I’d end up with like three!), and my mom had a vegetarian risotto. We all really liked our meals and the ambiance of the place is nice, the booth was private and low-lit in a good way. The only thing I’d complain about was really slow service, which was too bad because everything else about the night was really nice(and, when we managed to flag him down, the waiter was perfectly pleasant). But I’ve sat at the bar(mmmm, their cocktails are good too) every other time I’ve been here, so I don’t know if that’s typical.

I’ve been to Burton’s for lunch a few times, and have had solidly good experiences each time. I wasn’t blown away by anything about the place, service or food, but don’t really have any major complaints either. The three-star review is like that. If I could rate giving three stars to places, I’d give it one star. Each time I’ve gone, service has been friendly and appropriate, except for one. It was a very busy lunch, a few days before Christmas. Our server was clearly rushing around trying to keep up, stressed and struggling. I was with a three of my co-workers and we are definitely a low-maintenance and easygoing group, so we weren’t overly pissed about our waters needing to be filled. But this visit was absolutely sub-par and if that was the first time I had dined there, I wouldn’t have gone back. Luckily I had those other, better experiences to carry the dead weight of this one. The servers are normally upbeat and into providing a positive atmosphere. Each time I’ve gone, the food has been very good. I’ve had their burger, which was cooked pretty much the way I asked and came with some excellent fries. Usually I go a little healthier, though. Their salmon burger is just as satisfying and I kind of prefer it to the regular burger. I know, it’s not exactly health food, but whatever. My co-workers are all crazy about the barbecued chicken chopped salad. Good American food at a tolerable price, for lunch anyway. It’s not an everyday option, but for a once in a while treat with the ladies, it’s decent.

Burtons is right on the verge of breaking out of the«chain» category. They have plenty of locations but still seem like a neighborhood restaurant. Tonight I tried the salmon. I make that one of my usual menu items so I can judge restaurants comparatively, and this was one of the best I’ve had in a while. Pair it with a baked potato(which I usually don’t do) and broccoli(much better than the spinach at other places) and you’re good to go. The service was wonderful. Next time we go, we’d be happy to have Chris serve us again. And, no, I don’t think it was *just* the delicious, blended barrel Chardonnay…

I really enjoyed Burtons. I went there this past June and watched the first half of game 2NBA finals when ray dropped like 35. I was able to shuffle back and forth to the dinner table and bar between courses. We had little ones too and the staff pleasantly kept them accommodated. I had the salmon since I am cutting back on red meat, but I did have a nibble of my sisters. The food was good, but isn’t quite the Capital Grilled. For a finer choice of restaurant to choose from in the Fenway, its perfect for those who want a comfortable place to eat a good dinner. It fits in well in the area since there seems to be a yuppy boom in this part of town. We were all pretty happy with our meals then the dessert came. Very big portions and the five of us could have shared two or three desserts and been plenty satisfied. I’ll be back most definitely. I hear they have a nice Sunday brunch. My overall experience would be a 3.5 stars.

I went to Burtons Grill tonight with a party of 15 or so to celebrate one of my friend’s birthday and had one of the worst dining experiences of my life. One of my friends had planned well in advance to reserve the«private» room for the party and had been in touch on an ongoing basis with the restaurant to confirm details and party sizes. While we were getting set up in the room a larger party arrived at the restaurant without a reservation and in the interest of accommodating these people, management informed us that they could make more money off the other group so we had to pick up and move to a table outside in the restaurant so that they could have the room. Once we had all picked up our stuff and moved to another table where we were crammed in elbow to elbow, we then proceeded to have awful service. We had one waiter for our large party and he disappeared a number of times for 15 – 20 minutes. Our waiter was utterly disinterested and nobody checked in with us to see how our meals were or if we needed anything. I personally did not have a drink for the entire time I was eating my entrée and had to flag the waiter down multiple times to get drinks. Being forced to give an 18% tip to such a disinterested waiter only added insult to injury. The food itself was slightly above average, I particularly liked the Philly Egg Rolls. Also, the key lime pie was the best I have ever had. In Burton’s defense, they did comp our appetizers after this whole mess, but the disrespectful manner with which we were dealt and the horrible service are enough for me to never eat at this restaurant again.

I“ve already done a few reviews for the North Andover Burtons, but had to add this one too. I love this place! Especially being a gluten free gal, although an equally wonderful place for those that are not. I like how this location is a little cozier, a little more hip, and not quite as suburban feeling, however I still love ALL Burtons! The locations’ menus vary slightly. This one has the steak frites which was amazing! So tender and flavorful and cooked to pink juicy perfection! Plus the fries are fantastic! And one just has to order anything that requires a steak knife, if only so you can see the processional! And the service is superb!

Pricey, although the food is VERY good. The calamari was really crispy and the breading had a nice flavor to it and well worth it. The cheese steak spring rolls were very good as well, but you’d be paying $ 10 for 3 spring rolls and two onion rings($ 2 a piece!) I also had the Lobster and Shrimp Pasta. The shrimp were HUGE and the dish had plenty of lobster claw-meat. The cheese and the snap peas really complented the dish. I also had Burton’s Hot Fudge sundae which was very satisfying. And… their blueberry mojitos are to die for.

Lisa G.(below) suggested that we grab dinner at Burton’s Grill after an MS Walk team night at Jillian’s. My fiancé and I had never been to Burton’s before, but we were not disappointed. I had a steak sandwich, and had planned to eat half and take the rest home. But, it was so good that I didn’t have any left overs to bring with me. It’s grilled tenderloin topped with caramelized onions and provolone cheese, on a griddled ciabatta roll, served with hand cut french fries. My fiancé had the California Chicken sandwich, and wouldn’t stop raving about it. The California Chicken sandwich is bronzed chicken breast, cure 81 ham, chipotle mayonnaise, avocado cream and pepperjack cheese on a griddled ciabatta roll, served with cole slaw. The food is a little pricey, but it’s normal for the area the restaurant is in.(Now that the really cheap places on Peterbourgh St. burned down.) Our waiter was very attentive. I will probably stop buy again when I’m in the fenway area.

I’ve been hearing for a while that Burton’s was good, so I was very excited when my friend decided to do her birthday dinner here! Her main reason for picking it was their Gluten-Free Menu, which is just awesome. First off: love the atmosphere. Very chic and cozy, casual — yet elegant. The rolls they put out with whatever tasty butter that was were sooo nice. Crisp on the outside, warm and chewy on the inside. MMM. Luckily they only brought out enough for each person, otherwise I would have ruined my dinner! For my cocktail, I got the special, which was the Passionate Kiss Martini(A romantic blend of champagne, strawberry purée, passion fruit syrup, white lillet and st. germain liqueur garnished with fresh strawberries). This was so tasty and rather strong! Everyone else loved their drinks as well(one friend got the Blueberry Martini and raved about it). For my main course, I went with the Tuscan Brick Chicken(All-natural chicken breast seasoned and seared under brick, served over creamy risotto with baby carrots, snap peas and natural au jus). The chicken was definitely thicker than I expected, but it was juicy & delicious. And the risotto & veggies were PERFECT. I devoured the entire thing. 3 people at the table got burgers and all 3 ended up sending them back due to under-cooking. My husband ordered his medium-well — when the waitress looked at it, she said«yeah, that’s rare.» The birthday girl ordered hers medium and the waitress, after bringing it into the kitchen, told us the chef said«that’s his version of medium.» They happily heated them all up though, and my husband — who had eaten a few bites — even got a completely new burger! The 3rd person apparently got his back, with his bite taken out of it… 1 complaint: They don’t do anything for birthdays! They did bring out a birthday cake — after I requested it — but didn’t sing and charged us for the cake. :(However, the Gluten-Free cake they brought(with ice cream) was apparently divine. It wasn’t too pricey, considering it was a large group and everyone got 1 – 2 drinks. I would definitely go back and am curious to try their brunch!

This review is just for the bar based on a few experiences; I have eaten in the dining area once only. The bartender have all been very professional but with a laid back attitude(the neighood type). They did a great job with drinks ranging from blueberry martini’s to pear infused vodka and crown manhattans. We’ve ordered appetizers at the bar and really enjoy the scallops. Give them a try. My experience in the dining area was ok. I have to try it again before writing up a review on it.

Burton’s is a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience. It’s your typical dark, off-light dining room with huge bouncy booth seats and inoffensive beats playing in the background. The service, as has been stated in other reviews, really makes it a standout. The stuffed zuchini appetizer is among one of the best I have ever tried. It’s light yet super interesting and flavorful, and involves two different kinds of cheese. Nothing that involves two cheeses can go too terribly wrong. Their gingerbread and pumpkin martinis, while not actual martinis, are REALLY effing tasty. Yeah, so sue me, i had a flamboyant girlie drink. But damn, they were tasty. They have Mark West Pinot noir, actually reasonably priced by the glass, which was the perfect wine to go with the«Land and Sea», a fabulous pairing of a perfectly grilled filet mignon and a crab cake. Their crab cake is right up there with the best I’ve ever tasted. Something like 90% crab meat — it’s definitely worth going back for. The filet was a teensy bit dry, but what are you gonna do, it’s a filet. For a side, definitely try the cucumber salad — exquisitely thin little slices of cucumber flavored with dill and a tart vinegary dressing. The GF had the San Francisco-style seafood stew — which was huge and tomato-y and full of big tasty seafoods like shrimp and calamari and scallops. A great scotch is a great way to end a great meal, and they have a decent selection of single-malts. Macallan 12-year for me, thank you. Why not on a Tuesday, huh?
