Never got the chance to try the food. Google said the place was open till 10pm, and we drove 45minutes to get here. But when we did, at 9:30pm they said they had closed for the day. Lesson to self — call ahead irrespective of what Google or a restaurant website says.

Had such a great time here the other night. It’s a small place and we were lucky to snag the last open table when we arrived. We got a kielbasa appetizer, it looked amazing(damn my lack of taking photos). They looked like little octopi on the edges. It was perfectly flavorful and crispy on the edges. For dinner we did the potato pancakes and the vienna pork chop. The potato pancakes were great, especially with the sour cream and apple chunks/sauce on the side. A little salt and pepper here and there too. The vienna pork chop was really good. It came with beets and saurkraut, which are not things I really like, but he was all over it. Didn’t leave a thing on his plate. The portion are a little small, I’d probably get another one or two appetizers next time around. We were lucky to sit near a big group who ordered all sorts of things, so we got to spy on various meals coming out. Really fun to see all the different choices. Great customer service.

I really enjoyed this place. I hadn’t tried polish food before, so I was intrigued. I came with a pretty big group and was lucky enough to try all the different foods. They start you out with bread and a polish pork spread. This was definitely an acquired taste, so I recommend not putting too much on your bread. We ordered pierogi’s, meat pierogi’s, kielbasa twists, polish plate, potato pancake, gypsy pancake, stuffed cabbage. We ended with fruit crêpe, Apple crisp, and the chocolate babka. Everything was delicious! Of course, towards the end. Everything started to taste very similar and all had the same texture. I was a huge fan of the pierogi’s! It’s like a dumpling. The potato pancakes were good too. I didn’t like the goulash, but I think that’s just my taste. The hunters stew was also a little salty, and eventually everything was very salty and heavy. But the dessert helped counteract the saltiness. Be prepared to be VERY full, I wanted to be rolled out of this place if possible. The staff are super friendly and its a pretty tiny store. Definitely recommend if you want to try things, and bring a large group!

Love this restaurant. I had the Polish plate– cabbage, kielbasa, pierogis, and Hunter’s stew. Quick service, quaint place too. Book a reservation if you want to make sure you will have a table at your time. I also had the chocolate babka! Molten chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream! The waiter is from Warsaw too! Really nice guy! Wine bottles in $ 30 – 40 range! Come here for date night!

Service is slow, they forgot my kielbasa, the borsch is lacking, the duck overcooked, and drinks low throughout the dinner. This was sad, not just for these cost $ 60+, but for the dinner I could have had instead.

Café Polonia is a quaint little restaurant filled with wonderful staff members and a truly home-y ambiance My boyfriend and I sauntered in around 2PM on a Saturday and managed to just beat the rush. There is a limited number of tables and some people were told the wait would be ~30 minutes while we were seated. Plan accordingly, and make a reservation if you can. We ordered the potato pancakes to split, myself the Polish Plate, and him the veal. The potato pancakes were delicious, though very filling. We realized we ordered way too much food half way into finishing our four potato pancakes. The Polish Plate includes two pierogies, two large pieces of kielbasa, stuffed cabbage, and hunter’s stew, which is ground pork wrapped in a cabbage wrap topped off with tomato sauce. I really enjoyed the kielbasa, and thought the hunter’s stew was interesting. The tomato sauce kind of tasted like Chef Boyardi’s ravioli sauce, but obviously less artificial(I hope, anyway). The pierogies were good as well, though I wasn’t wow’ed, and they were topped off with some onions. My boyfriend enjoyed his veal, but thought it wasn’t seasoned enough. I personally tried a bite and thought it tasted great, but I have a fairly light palate. The meal was incredibly incredibly filling – I guess a large part of that has to do with the style of the cuisine, but I felt almost a bit too bloated. I would definitely err on ordering less next time.

This place is actually very pricy… we ordered the stuffed cabbage.2 for $ 18 which i thought is pretty high for what it’s made of. We also go the sample platter which was $ 15 and that has one cabbage and some really good dumpings. and a piece of sausage and what i think is onions? not sure. Small place, quiet… wasn’t packed. I just didn’t think it was worth it. but if you really crave this type of cuisine and cannot make it yourself then you should come and try it. Homemade is the best. but if you don’t know how to .then you gotta get it here.

To begin, when I walked in I felt tremendous hospitality. I was welcomed with open arms. The waffling smell of Eastern European cuisine is on the air. Nice wooden tables with the room Decore of warm red color and a nice incandescent lighting system. The herring is good and the borsch quite flavorful. Broth like w mushroom tortellinis. My entrée will include a Polish kielbasa, stuffed cabbage, and Pirogies. Life is good!

The people are very nice despite forgetting to write down my order. The food is good though I had to watch my friends eat until my lunch came out from the kitchen.

It never disappoints. The stuffed cabbage will change your perspective on cabbage. The perogies are perfect and the potato pancakes will blow your mind. If you live in Boston, you need to try this place. Also – be sure to try some of the Polish beer they serve.

Phenomenal food! Just like being back in Poland! I started with the sour pickle soup and chose the Gypsy Pancake as my entrée. Absolutely delicious! I am so pleased that we found this gem… And that we saved room for the chocolate babka. I highly recommend this café!

It has been the dream of my wife and I to do a Guy Fieri food tour. In my last trip to Boston, we finally made this a reality. I love good kielbasa and pierogies already, so this was a natural choice for one of our stops. I’ve never been in a more authentic ethnic restaurant of any kind. I felt like I was stepping into a café in Warsaw when I walked in. And I wouldn’t even know what a café in Warsaw was like. I just imagine it would be like this. A plate of kielbasa and pierogies for me, and a plate of potato pancakes for the wife were in order, and we tried each other’s dishes. I have to say that I would eat this three or four days of the week if I could and I’m not even Polish. Everything there just fed the soul. I hope I get back here someday.

Five stars for being the only polish restaurant in boston. I’ve been here about 4 times and it’s always been a pleasure. The restaurant is really small, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised that it’s never been an issue in terms of wait time. Usually, I just sit right down immediately. Being small also makes it very easy to get the attention of the server. As for the food, polish is one of my favorite types and café polonia doesn’t let me down. Everything is pretty tasty: pierogi, kielbasa, stuffed cabbage, and kiszka is all great. I especially like the kiszka and stuffed cabbage though. The pierogi aren’t as big and filling as others I’ve had back home(cleveland) but the taste is on point. Even with the really good reviews on Unilocal,it seems that this place is still kinda a secret. Or maybe polish just isn’t as sexy as all the foodie nonsense in southie nowadays. Whatever the case may be, don’t overlook this gem, just about a 3 minute walk from the Andrew t station.

Awesome Polish food, located in the heart of South Boston’s «Polish Triangle» My boyfriend and I have become regulars. I learned how to cook Polish food from my mom, and I know that she would be impressed. If you have not had Polish food before, go for the Polish Plate, which gives you a great sample of all Polish favorites — Stuffed Cabbage, Kielbasa, Pierogi’s, and Bigos(Sauerkraut stew).

I love these finds! Small ethnic polish fare with attention to details. A small restaurant with seating for about 30. Walking in your eyes are drawn to the unique chairs at the tables and how well thought out the layout is. First impression was the owner has a lot of love and soul in this place. I enjoyed the polish plate with hunter’s stew, stuffed cabbage, kielbasa sausage(with mustard) and two pierogi. The stuffed cabbage and pierogi were amazing. The pierogi were perfectly boiled with carmelized onions that was simply amazing. The service was wonderful. Friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was wonderful and I felt like I was in Europe. This place is close to Boston Logan and was easy to find. For travelers do yourself a favor and check this place out before leaving Boston!

So delicious. I felt like I was back home at Babcia’s, with less guilt-tripping to eat more. Always ask what the soup of the day was. In our case, it was pickle soup and it was phenomenal. I also recommend the Polish Platter, as others have said — you get to sample a variety of things and figure out what you want to order more of. The gołąbki(stuffed cabbage) were my favorite. Everything else was very good, too. They give you smalec(bacon fat) instead of butter to put on your bread. Try not to eat too much of that before your actual meal. Actually, go ahead and eat it — none of this is health food and you will invariably leave stuffed. Service was great and I LOVE the décor. Do consider making a reservation if you’re coming at peak times, as there are not a lot of seats.

Wonderful place. A hidden gem. It reminded me European cafes(of course, you will say, it is Polish.). The cute atmosphere(wooden design, bunches of wheat on walls, ethnic pieces of décor) — it is so adorable. I wouldn’t change a thing in this place! The guy was by himself serving all tables(I guess, the waitress didn’t show up), and he was really good and fast, and apologized many times with a smile(which was not needed actually, because everything was perfect). It was already packed when we came, with 1 table just emptied for us. And customers kept coming and coming nonstop, and there were not enough tables for sitting. We ordered traditional dish(polish potatoes pancakes with a cup of goulyash, sour pickles soup, breaded mushrooms) and beer Tyske. Loved it all except for mushrooms. That was enough for 2 of us. We don’t eat a lot(we eat less than typical american restaurant plate) Please note that the beer size is larger than regular american beer size, so we shared. The taste was great, you could feel the liveliness of it. The bill was 40 $. It is great to have that kind of place for diversity reason. I literally felt flashback(being back in Eastern Europe). And I wish there were more of those kind of cafes/restaurants in Boston. That’s what makes Boston special.

Tucked away in this Dorchester/South Boston neighborhood this cute little authentic Polish place delivered exactly what we were in search for on a cold rainy day. Blood sausage appetizer was tasty and homemade. The pierogies were delicious I only wish they were a little bigger. Less dough and more filling. Beef tripe soup had the softest melt in your mouth strips of tripe. I seriously don’t know how they got it so tender. Hubby had the sour pickle soup… sounds gross right? Nope! Sooo tasty, why haven’t I had this before? Yum yum, definitely going back next time I’m in town.

Came here on a Thursday night with a group of 10 and they were nice enough to give us a reservation despite the small size of the restaurant. Café Polonia has a nice home-y feel to it but it can get a little cold in there. The service was phenomenal as well. Highlights of the night included pan fried potato & cheese pierogis, potato dumplings, stuffed cabbage, sobieski cutlet. and the apple tart This was my first time having authentic polish food and I thought it was alright. All the dishes seemed really similar, consisting of lots of goulash and potatoes. The goulash was a little too salty for me, so everything started tasting salty… eg the gypsy pancake.
