Had drinks at the bar and loved it. Great atmosphere, great people, and a great place to hang with friends. Probably some of the best bar food that I’ve had in years.

Clink is open pretty much all day. This review is for their late night bar/restaurant. Atmosphere is second to none, being inside the old converted jail is awesome. Feels dark and cavernous, but fun and lively at the same time. Being in Beacon Hill, you would expect a certain level of snobbery. There were No pretentious people in here, everyone seemed pretty friendly. Food was awesome — GETTHELOBSTERMACANDCHEESE! It changed my life. Drinks were great, and service was surprisingly good given the amount of people they were serving. Being a guest of the hotel, you get access to the second and third levels. Feels sort of like a VIP section, with a birds-eye view over the entire bar. It may be a little touristy, but hey, we are tourists so we loved it :)

Food is decent. But expensive for the venue. What I mean by this is its kinda dirty. Dirty fixtures near the table, dirty salt n pepper shakers. Salt shaker was empty. I don’t mind paying, but if you are going to charge for food like that I don’t want to feel like I’m eating at an upscale McDonald’s in the hood. Service was meh for breakfast. A step up from the hospital food next door though.

I’ll keep it simple: Get the fish, great wine, great atmosphere. It’s one of the best restaurants in the area.

The bartender at Clink, Justin, with the beard, on the 2nd floor, is the fastest working, most efficient bartender I think I’ve ever seen. Great bar, fun weekend crowd.

Expensive. Touristy feel to it, even though I work near there I always am made to feel like I’m only a petulant visitor. Weird vibe, not welcoming. Maybe because of the transitory hotel stayers… But it just makes you want to leave.

Clink is located inside the Liberty hotel and is a trendy restaurant on the 2nd floor. I love the history behind this building(Charles Street Jail with the original rotunda and bars)! We didn’t have reservation but were able to get a table for 2. To start, we shared the seafood platter($ 46, crab claws, oysters, shrimp, and ahi tuna lollipops) with a glass of sauvignon blanc. My favorites on this platter were the oysters and crab claws. The mignonette sauce it came with was amazing. It really brought out the flavors. I also had the veal carpaccio($ 16) and it came with fry bread, greens, and caper berries. The veal was excellent and was served with a tartar like sauce. I loved the greens but the caper berries and fry bread were just ok. The fry bread didn’t have any taste and the caper berries were overly briny. For dessert, we shared the blueberry cheesecake ice cream. This has to be one of the most creative desserts I’ve ever had. It was 3 scoops of ice cream which was a gorgeous tinted lavender and had bits of cheesecake/graham crackers in it, topped with whipped cream. My favorites from the night were the dessert, oysters, and veal. Service was also wonderful!

Slow service, inattentive wait staff, kind of weird smell, overpriced($ 5 for drip coffee, $ 6 for orange juice, and plain omelet was $ 19…), and my food came cold. It was so disorganized that the Maitre D’ was serving guests food. This restaurant is honestly an embarrassment to the«luxury» Liberty Hotel. Tourist trap, don’t come here, it’s awful.

I was really excited to come here for dinner because I’ve heard such positive things, mainly in regards to the atmosphere. I have to say I was a bit disappointed. While the restaurant looks really cool, it was incredibly loud. I could barely hear my dinner companion who was sitting directly across from me. They did have a decent wine list, and I was happy with my glass of wine. My bf didn’t love his first cocktail(ordered off the menu), but the old fashioned he ordered was good. None of the appetizers jumped out at us, so we both attracted to the duck for our entrée. The duck was amazing. It seriously turned everything around. It was served with their version of «gnocchi», which was essentially a stick of mashed potato with a crispy shell. DELICIOUS! If all I had to have were these gnocchi sticks for the rest of my life, I think I would be just fine. So why the 3 stars? The big draw of this place seems to be the atmosphere, and the atmosphere was really not my scene. Places where you can’t hear the other person speak are not at all appealing to me. For that reason, despite the delicious dinner entrée, I will not be back to Clink.

Met a business contact for lunch at this unique establishment that was formerly the Charles Street Jail. The setting was a novelty, the service good, but the food was really not especially noteworthy. However, all of the above must be a great improvement from it’s former days!

Excellent– balanced meal– no need to add seasoning. Drinks aren’t cheap 15 $ for a cocktail, wine is 10 – 15 a glass. Beer sits at the boston average of 8. Not a lot of selection in the beer dept. boston is a beer town! The atmosphere gets a little loud. Fun to eat in the old jail. Prices are $$$. I go during restaurant week. Parking is 25 $ just take the T

Before we left the Liberty for the train station, we decided to have brunch at Clink. It was pretty quiet on Sunday morning, with hardly anyone else in the restaurant at this time. Getting seated wasn’t a problem, and the décor — with the touches of the prison past of the building abound, particularly the iron bars that were probably part of a cell block — are pretty neat. That, unfortunately, was about the best part of the restaurant. The service was a bit casual, and our waiter didn’t know the menu very well — he said that the orange juice was fresh-squeezed, but one taste and you could clearly tell it was from concentrate. It’s also quite expensive, which I am used to for brunch in NYC but would need to be majorly impressed here. That wasn’t the case, unfortunately; I got a Mexican-inspired dish that was really just poorly executed. The scrambled eggs were overcooked, the pico de gallo sprinkled on top of the eggs was uninspired and lacked flavor(probably because the tomatoes were dried out), and the chorizo was wholly uninteresting. The best thing I had for breakfast here were probably the tiny muffins that they brought out before the main courses. I’m not really sure what Clink is going for with their brunch menu — it seems relatively standard — but the food was wholly lacking and was extremely overpriced. If you are staying at the Liberty or just visiting, I would definitely recommend checking out somewhere else to eat(at least for breakfast/brunch).

Indifferent service. Average to below average food, more than half the tables were empty. Had scallops with black pasta in jalapeño sauce. Sounds good right? Well, the scallops were done well, however, the sauce appeared to be nothing more than melted butter and the pasta was tasteless with a rubbery consistency. So disappointed!

One of my favorite clients suggested that we meet for Lunch at Clink when I was in Boston. I arrived early and enjoyed people watching in a venue unlike anything in California. The clientele were formally dressed, and by that I mean pantyhose, not even on the older ladies. Ladies my age were rocking the hose! We were quickly seated after my companion arrived. The dining area had lots of natural light and an open feel with cozy tables, yet the brick walls a iron bars keep the historical character of this building intact. It provides a stark contrast to being in «the Clink» or so I am told. I sipped on iced tea and began navigating the somewhat limited menu. My diet dictated that I could order the crab salad or the salmon, an easy choice for me. We were served bread and butter that was lovely and I was impressed that our waiter brought out gluten free bread after my client mentioned a gluten sensitivity when ordering her meal. My cold crab salad had a light dressing with a bit of seaweed in it. This California girl is used to perfect produce, I was not impressed with Boston lettuce but the flavors were fresh and perfect for an early lunch. I intended to squeeze two lunches and a dinner in that day and was saving room try a Lobster roll later in the afternoon. The salmon also looked really nice and was a little bit more substantial than my first lunch of the day. I had a lovely meal and learned about the history of Liberty station which was my first stop on a sightseeing trip on foot through the city of Boston.

This is the kind of place that you want to love. The remnants of the jail throughout the hotel and restaurant are super cool and trendy. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. I had the grilled three-cheese sandwich. I’m not sure what kinds of cheese were used but they were kind of an odd mix and didn’t blend well together(even my cheese-lover friend didn’t enjoy the bite she had). My companions had the burrata cheese and Cuban pork sandwich but neither were very excited about the food. Let’s just say the food looked better than it tasted. They could also do with a better beer selection.

Clink still has the brick walls and iron bars from when the building was a New England prison. It was crazy to think of the history of the building as we ate here, which really added some depth to the venue. We ordered the Yellowtail Crudo, Roasted Salmon, and Pork Chop and Belly. All were delicious and had unique, scrumptious flavors. The pork chop plate had an apple theme to it — the apple flavors seemed to be subtly infused throughout the meat, which worked really well. Clink has mixed reviews on Unilocal, but we thought it was fantastic! The prison ambiance works in a very trendy, hipster way, the waitstaff was prompt and friendly, and the food was phenomenal.

FOOD: 2.5STARS SERVICE: 3STARS AMBIANCE: 3STARS OVERALL: 3STARS Clink inside the Liberty Hotel is a rather disappointing experience. I have dined at Scampo, which is located right below Clink also in the Liberty several times in the past Scampo has a cool scene and the food is pretty awesome. If you are going to make a trip to this beautiful hotel of a jail, please do make a reservation at Scampo… Not Clink. When we arrived at Clink and checked in with the hostess, she mentioned that they canceled our reservation. The reservation was at 7:30pm and we were, indeed, on time. I guess they made a mistake or something leaving her all frazzled. Instead of seating us, she went inside and took care of some other things for 10 – 15 minutes and then came out and started looking for our reservation again. Something must have clicked in her head because then she finally seated us, without apologizing that is. The server himself was a nice gentleman so I can’t be a total hater. I would say the service at Clink is about 3 stars. As for the appetizers, I tried the tuna tartare, which was a special on the menu. It was supposedly going to be served with pomegranate, jalapenos and a bunch of other yummy stuff. The fish itself was fresh however the dish was just large pieces of tuna with nothing else. I also tried the steamed mussels, which were served in with lemongrass, ginger, cilantro, jalapeño and lime. The mussel broth itself did have some flavor however the mussels were definitely not fresh. I also had some oysters and those were decent. From the main dishes, I tried the butternut squash tortelli served with brown butter, sage and parmesan. This dish was super salty making it rather difficult to evaluate as an entrée. Eh, I’ve had better butternut squash pasta. The ambiance is nice but nothing special. Overall the service and the ambiance are average and the food is below average. If you are reading this review right now, please question why you are thinking about dining at this restaurant and head right on downstairs to Scampo

Clink was eh. My sister’s getting married at the Liberty in less than a month so I’ve been spending some serious time here recently. My co-worker and I decided to come here for restaurant week. You can never tell if the food for restaurant week is just mediocre to start or if that’s how the food always is. Mixed reviews on this page, so not sure. Regardless, I started with the Feta — a giant block of fried feta cheese, AKA a glorified mozzarella stick. The honey and sesame on top was nice, but I wish there was more of it for the portion size. I ordered the steak for dinner and it was perfectly cooked(medium rare) but well under-seasoned. It desperately needed salt. Luckily there was a nice corn purée with lobster butter to rub the steak in. The mushrooms on this dish were AWESOME, but the zucchini on the side also lacked flavor. My co-worker and I both washed down the meal with the summer cherry ice cream with brownie crumble. This was awesome. The ice cream didn’t have a strong cherry flavor but was so creamy and delicious with the brownie crumble. There were also huge chunks of black cherries in the ice cream — awesome. Would I be back? Probably not, but maybe for a drink. The list of cocktails was pretty creative but unfortunately the food lacked character and seasoning.

I really love the ambience here! Its trendy and sexy. Came here for a girls night on a Friday but the restaurant was pretty empty. Our waiter was really nice but wasn’t particularly attentive and the food took a very long time to get served. We started off with a 3 person charcuterie plate and then proceeded with our entrees. I ordered the pork loin and pork belly, bacon grits. I thought the charcuterie was just okay, but I really enjoyed my pork trio, the porkchop was cooked to perfection and the small portion of pork belly was just the right amount to accompany the loin. I was incredibly impressed w the grits, it didn’t have the texture of traditional grits… It was reminiscent of a mix of mashed potato and barley… Delish! The other 3 girls didn’t have the same luck as me when choosing their entrees, the gnudi and rye noodles were less than memorable. Would definitely not recommend those items. However the yellowtail appy was good.
