My entire review could end after this phrase: «Wednesday night karaōke with the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus rocked my world.» …because that about sums it up. No really though, this place was awesome. We didn’t expect it to be so nice inside. It is a very upscale gay bar with HGTV and the Big Bang Theory on their TVs. Service is fast and drinks are tasty. They have an extensive cocktail menu and decent prices for such a nice place. Our server was awesome. He was quick and had great fruity cocktail recommendations for a friend who wasn’t a huge drinker. He had a handheld card scanner and iPad and we paid our tabs right at the table. It seems there is also a restaurant and piano bar, but I can’t comment on those. I also can’t comment on food, only drinks, service and entertainment. But in all honesty, karaōke is what’s most worth talking about here. I went with a group of business travelers and we were welcomed with open arms and cold drinks. The karaōke game is some of the strongest I’ve ever seen … Because the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus is in the house every Wednesday. So much actual talent and showmanship. I can’t explain it much more than that. You have to see it to believe it. Next time I’m in Boston in a Wednesday, I’ll be back!

Came here with friends to see Golden Girls Live. It was such a fabulous experience! Our server was friendly and fun and provided great service. The show was hilariously funny and smart. We will be back for sure.

Like someone said, it is a «gay bar» and it exists. That is about it. I would have ideally liked to give zero stars to this place, but the two stars go to the waiters, bartenders and the food. The food is indeed very good, some bartenders are very nice — so I have to give atleast two stars. Now, to go over specific comments about Club Café: 1– The kind of men that this bar attracts is awful. Having said that, Club Café also gives a visitor(or spectator) an accurate average estimate of Boston’s gay community. The men who come here are extremely cliquey, pseudo-liberal, financially imprudent, superficial and racist, and will leave you demotivated when you leave the bar. By pseudo-liberal, I mean people who claim to be inclusive and supportive of equality of all sorts, but these are the very people who try to exclude people who look different or dress differently. 2– The $ 10 cover for non-members is outrageous. I am okay with the concept of a cover, but $ 10?!! No way. 3– The Tuesday night events(Trivia) is not very well organized. It is definitely not bad, but could be better organized. 4– I do love the food here. They have a pumpkin pasta I like(can’t remember the name of this dish). I also like their fish and chips, LGBT equality wrap and appetizers. Good portion and reasonably priced. You could say the drinks are«over-priced» but to be honest, it is not different than other bars in the Boston area.

Great space, it seems to have been updated since the last time I was there a few years back. Restaurant was busy, service was okay and food was good but nothing to wow about. MD crab cakes were okay but were missing old bay seasoning

Myself and one of my best friends went to the Golden Girls Lost Christmas episode yesterday and what a great spot! Disco fries were to die for, drinks especially the peach sangria was delicious and the staff was great! Can’t wait to come back again!

It’s OK, I guess. If you’re gay in Boston you don’t have many options, and I’ll say this for Club Café: it exists, and it’s close to the T. It can range from being a blah gay bar during the week to being an irritating gay-themed bar on weekends, as it seems to be a big draw for straight women playing Grace to hairless and barely legal Wills. Food’s actually pretty good, and it’s a perfectly fine place to hang out with a friend for a drink on a non-weekend night. Nothing much exciting is going to happen there though, and I don’t find it the friendliest place if you’re on your own. And getting a drink, or a waiter if you’re at a table, almost always seems to be more difficult than it should be. So yeah, not much personality, and, oddly enough, not terribly gay, but it exists and it’s close to the T.

A PASS for me and friends. We arrived at 11:20pm still waiting in line at 11:50pm. Never experienced a wait or cover at a NYC bar. And the people smoking and killing my lungs in line. We looked in Unilocal and found Trophy Room a block away and what a difference, walked right in, no cover and got a drink within two minutes of walking up to the bar despite it being quite, quite full. And the clientele here was an definite plus compared to the clientele waiting in line at Club Café.

Wondering how to get service here. Waiting… waiting…waiting…so I’m told to finish the review… Bartenders are rude and ignore patrons. Waiters are no where to be seen. This place is rude and unprofessional. Yes… Just proved they are complete assholes here

I’m not sure about this place. My girlfriend and I wanted to come here for some drinks, food, and dancing Saturday night. We got here at 9:30 pm and grabbed a couple of drinks then went to the restaurant area for food. Then, the waiters took forever to take our orders, bring us our food, and bring us our checks. When we finally were able to finish up our tab at the restaurant and then the bar, we tried to go to the dance floor but theirs place has the most ridiculous policy I have ever heard for a nightclub: You have to have a wristband to get into the dance floor, the cover for which is $ 10. But, in order to get that wristband you have to go and wait outside the actual club in a separate line to pay the cover – even if you’ve been in the locale for as long as we’ve been. I spent $ 24 on food and the gf spent $ 48 on drinks. It’s ridiculous to make us wait in line OUTSIDE to spend another $ 20 on cover for wristbands to get on a dance floor that is practically empty. Nah. Heading to other clubs where the cover is actually worth it for the good time.

Came here with my gf for a burlesque show(which was a blast) and was not disappointed. Got there early so she could set up/I could eat, and she joined me at the bar for food and drinks. I was wicked hungry so I suppose anything would have tasted good, but the Italian grilled cheese sandwich was delicious. Also, they have the biggest ****ing profiterole I’ve ever seen! Had to get it. Again, delicious. I was very impressed by the fact that they carry Knob Creek Rye. I’m not a fan of bourbon, so I was happy to see a top shelf rye available for a reasonable price($ 10, I think). Service was friendly and prompt. Can’t speak to the dance floor, wasn’t there for that, but they tolerated the ladies well enough lol.

Came for trivia night which I’d give 3.5 stars. Had the something mule which was ginger beer with vodka. The size was kinda small but the drink was strong in the beginning. Trivia was fun and winners got a gift card to the restaurant. The set up of the restaurant is cool with a cabaret room and bar. It’s a gay friendly bar which was a surprise to me. Overall, I’d come back to try to win at trivia.

Went here on Friday night. Busy enough, but really strange crowd. No one dancing in the club, just standing and talking. But that’s no surprise as the sound system was horrendous. You couldn’t tell what song it was unless you looked at the projected videos on the wall. The vocals were barely recognisable and the whole lot just sounded muddy. Seriously guys get it fixed

The bald bartender in the back seem to be skimming off the top. Adds an extra dollar to the total… BS

Someone kept farting on the dance floor! Sorry, this is the gay-bar-night experience that sticks out in my mind after the 8x I’ve been here. My friend turned to me and said, «I miss smoking in bars» because the odor was so bad and couldn’t be covered by long-gone tobacco smoke. ONLY exception — it’s fun the Friday night before all the gays head to Provincetown for 4th of July week. All the NYC, Chicago, and LA gays are in town to mix things up!

Didn’t try the food, but it looked nice. A bit too nice, like, plastic display nice. A bit unsettling, but whatevz. I was there to turn up, not order food. Had a glass of their chardonnay, bonterra. Not a wine connoisseur, but i suppose it was good. The price was decent. May not come back here particularly for two reaons: 1. i live in california 2. the bartenders aren’t really concerned with your satisfaction. I was not asked once whether i wanted another glass(which I desperately wanted).

Very mediocre for me(this review is from straight girl at a gay bar on a Friday night) most gay bars I frequent have fun dance music… this one not so much. I think the dj must have gone through a break up because all the music was sad songs with a crappy house beat behind it. The dance floor was cute. …but got balls hot.
The gay boys here are cute with swag and very friendly so that was fun but overall this wouldn’t be a top destination for me. The drinks were i suppose reasonable, small glasses. I got a Captain and Coke for 8 bucks. Coat check is $ 3 per item cash obviously. No drag shows here folks.

I love this place. I come here with my friends from time to time. Meet some great boys, great drinks. In the summer, we love getting their lobster rolls because they’re not pricy and taste delicious! We’ve been to the Drag Bingo Night they hosted and it was a riot! Love the game and the drag queen who’s hosting the show. If you are looking for something unconventional and simply a fun night out with your friends(and you want to meet some gays), this is the perfect place for you! It’s not over-the-top but still incredibly fun!

I’d give them a 2.5 if I could. I went to the Napoleon Room at Club Café last Saturday to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The food was good and the entertainment was good. However, the service was maddeningly slow and spotty, and basically ruined the evening for me. Ever time I go to this place, they have only one waiter who is always very young, nice, and cute, but inexperienced and overworked. I do not see why they do not staff appropriately if they want to be seen as a real restaurant.

For establishments of its type in Boston, this is one of the larger bars and clubs out there, and interestingly tries to be all things to all people, cramming a slightly more formal and upscale dining room against the windows facing the street, a bar and café area in the middle, and a dance floor in the back. Although these three areas are rather small in and of themselves, their vibes couldn’t be more different — it’s almost as if there were three completely unrelated venues housed under one roof here. Having said that, I prefer the bar during more mellow, less crowded periods, and it’s not a bad place to hang out. There’s a decent selection at the bar and a fairly wide-ranging menu if you choose to sit down and eat at the high tables across from it. Like others have said, the atmosphere changes dramatically on different days and even at different times of the day, but still, there should be at least one third of this establishment that appeals to you.

My friends told me that this club had amazing music and it most definitely did! I had a plane to catch at 8 am and I still went out, so if that’s not saying something, then idk what will! The drinks were really good, then again, I don’t know much about drinks(I’m just really, really picky). I had a Spritzer and I thought it was great because I couldn’t taste the alcohol(White wine) too much. The people there are all so nice, except for 2 people that were creeping, but the bouncers kicked one of them out, hallelujah! Other than that, I have no complaints :)
