Consumers Checkbook Magazine

I think their intentions are good and they are trustworthy but I also think that after all these years that they have been in existence, their categories and sampling of businesses is too small to be of much use. Today, for example, I wanted to check on health insurance plans on behalf of my self-​employed daughter, and on HVAC contractors. But, they don’t cover health insurers and a big HVAC company, Basnett in Littleton, MA, was not on the reviewed list. A few weeks ago I looked for a review of plumbers in North Andover and the company I hired, Giard plumbing was also not reviewed and they also have been in business a long time. Thus far, Consumer’s Checkbook has been useless to me.
Angie’s List, I think, is worse because almost all of them get A ratings. How can you believe that? I could go on. Bottom line is I could never trust Angie’s List.
The heading above for the meaning of two stars is «Meh, I’ve experienced better.» That is not what I am saying. I’m just saying that Consumer’s Checkbook provides very little value… thus far, none… to me.
