Counsel On Call

I was recently laid off. Major suckage. I spend two years workin’ for the man and how do they repay me? Two days notice and no severance pay. Awesome. (At least I was one of 1300? Is that supposed to make me feel better?)
What’s really awesome? ConC (my personal shortening/​nickname). They got me set up and ready to go the next Monday. Working for the same Man I worked for before…
But it’s a job. And it pays the bills. And my placement coordinator Elizabeth is incredible. Professional. Helpful. Insightful. Encouraging. Interesting. Lovely. Cute-​as-​a-​button. And shares my love of all things primate (yeah, we geeked out about orangutans, what of it?).
Even though the market is in the pits and there aren’t that many jobs to be had out there I know that Elizabeth is looking after me (and probably the other gazillion unemployed attorneys under her helm). I feel a little less panicky knowing ConC is working for me. And that’s saying a lot.
