While spending the day in Chinatown we decided to stop in at this shop after seeing a ton of great merchandise in their window displays. When we walked in we quickly learned a pair of rules that we made sure to follow. 1. Don’t shoplift… ok I know this is obvious but they have a great wall of shame near the entrance. 2. No photos… for the Unilocalers who took the chance, kudos to you but again I didn’t want to risk the wall of shame. They have great items but be prepared to spend a little bit of money. Unlike other street vendors, their prices are a bit high. Final thoughs about this store is that their selection is great and the staff was fairly polite. Unlike other stores in the area, they didn’t follow us around or make us feel uncomfortable while looking through the merchadise.

I had a very specific need: to buy a quantity of fans for a theatrical production. A nice young lady helped me with the fan assortment they had. I shopped the neighborhood and came back & made my, somewhat large, purchase there. Got good feeling for the store. Rode in on the T from the ‘burbs.

The woman at the front checkout helped us find a great restaurant to eat at. Very friendly and helpful. They also have a shoplifting camera that they then print out pictures of shoplifters and have them plastered on the entryway. HILARIOUS. The shop is eclectic and has great gifts and fun souvieners.

This is such a cute random store. I’ve been here so many times, usually to get cute items for super, super cheap. They have bamboo plants(which I’ve purchased before for my office, and they are still going strong), paper fans, hair accessories, wallets, toys, little knick knacks, basically. They have furniture, too, and glass items that look expensive. There’s a lot to look at and I think I spend an hour here every time I go. Around the entrance/exit, they have a ‘wall of shame’ with taped pictures of shoplifters. I’ve never seen a store do that, and it cracked me up. Also, a couple of teens were taking pictures of each other trying on merchandise, and they got chastised by the owner because pictures are not allowed to be taken here for some reason. Other than that, super cute store, and everyone who works here is very friendly.

Stopped in today. Wide selection of inexpensive and unique goods. As most reviewers have said you can pick up all kinds of knick knacks and a wide selection of your standard tourist goods. They also have a few more expensive pieces like statues, vases, and unique furniture. Honestly my favorite part was the photographs of shoplifters caught in the act that they post out front. There was a series of pictures with an increasingly angry grandma that is just classic. Appropriate? Probably not. Funny? You bet it was.

Poor selection of cheap items. No hello kitty seen, as previous reviews posted. Skip this, go to HIT

I mostly go to this store for their selection of rhinestone hair clips. They are very similar to what you see being sold for $ 45 at mall kiosks. Essex Corner sells them for $ 14 – 16. You can’t beat it. This place is also cool for getting cheapy useful things like fans when its hot outside, or little bags to use for makeup or toiletries. Lots of other neat little Chinese knick knacks. Cute little store. :)

Came here looking specifically for colorful paper lanterns for a shower I was throwing… and found exactly what I was looking for. I was a little disappointed with the lack of different sizes they had– I wanted a little more variety, but the price was right and they were perfect colors. It was also fun for us to explore the store and see all the bizarre/amazing things they had for sale… who knew there was such a market for such random stuff?

I love this place for these reasons 1. I buy useless junk likes it going out of season. 2. hello Kitty! 3. jade jewelry(cheap too!) 4. paper laterns(really pretty when hung outdoors in the summertime) 5. This place is soo well organized 6. lucky bamboo 7. cell phone charms(yeh i am one of those ppl) a great place to browse, pick up silly items, and fill up your house with useless knick knacks.

Like many places in Chinatown. this place has EVERYTHING. Little knick knacks are sitting atop expensive furniture. and glass ornaments are placed next to cell phone dangly thingies(«What does this mean?.. Oh it’s uh. good fortune. or eternal happiness or something). I do think this place is better organized and cleaner than others though. Essex Corner attracts a mix of locals and tourists. They carry these kind of rad exercise fold up swords and some kid and his dad were having an awkward fight about it. I wanted to wait around and see what would happen but I didn’t want to be involved whatsoever. I’ve been in to browse before, but I was in this week to buy myself a paper fan and some fake flowers. $ 6 very well spent! Definitely worth a browse when you’re in the area. PS — $ 10 credit card minimum. PPS — Open every day from 10−7PM. ;)

Knock-off purses, Chinese-style dresses, cheap costume jewelry… get it here. They also have vases, planters, special effects wall art(running rivers, waterfalls, etc.) There are some athletic shoes, accessories, and a variety of random stuff. If you want stuff and you don’t want to pay a lot, come here. If you need a cheap umbrella on a rainy day, this is a good place to stop in.
