I’ve had my hair cut by Rick and Artie a few times and they’re always great. Both are very personable and accommodating. I recommend calling in advance.

Rick is the man! I’ve only ever gotten my haircut by him, so I can’t speak for the others there. My old roomate told me about this place and told me that you could read porn magazines while getting your haircut. It’s true. It’s a little difficult to find the place cause they are INSIDE the office building. You can enter either on Berkley street(and go to the left of the elevators) or enter on St James St, near the patio of that Southwestern themed restaurant. Rick takes the time to do it right. Many barbershops I have been to, they just rush it and will totally fuck it up. Most salons will do it right but you feel like a woman and have to pay $ 30-$ 40, which is really not worth it if you’re just getting a basic cut. I have gotten many compliments on the haircuts and sent many customers his way. I would definitely recommend this place. It’s a barbershop, so you’re not gonna get some trendy stylish asymmetrical hipster cut, but if you want a straightforward and nice looking cut, check them out.

Clearly the Best of Boston! I’m not exactly sure what John P from Brooklyn’s issues were(plural used deliberately) — this is the greatest barber shop in Boston. My guess is that it was either some disgruntled New Yorker bitter about the Red Sox success, or one of Artie’s shady competitors. If you’re looking for hair stylist who will fetch you a soy/seaweed smoothie, and cut your hair with one hand while he holds your poodle with the other, this is not your barber shop. If, on the other hand, you’re looking for an OUTSTANDING haircut at a reasonable price from a friendly, 4th generation Boston Barber — this is the place! I’ll never go anywhere else!

I’m not coming back here – I think you can do better for the($ 20? $ 25? I can’t remember which). My cut is okay, but the guy didn’t seem to want to take direction – I asked him for an inch and a half on top, and he’s all«do I need to take the ruler to it?» I said of course not, but I should have said yes! It was like an inch. That’s okay, but I’d just expect a little more precision from someone who does this for a living. Plus a few other things, like the burns aren’t really very even, and they’re quite a bit shorter than they were before, which he should either ask about or keep the same. Lastly, it really took a full week for the cut to grow to looking what I’d call okay. Like I said in my last barbershop review, I’m kinda fussy but I think one can do better than this. They probably just get easy business ’cause it’s tucked away inside the houghton mifflin building and all the Summit guys go there.
