Horrible experience here. A few months ago I walked in here and I admit I didn’t look my best but I also didn’t look like someone who wandered in from off the street but one of the guys who was working was just giving me this condescending stare when I walked in. I walked towards one of the racks and this guy marches over to me and says«the sales items are in the back» not even a simple greeting just that. Not wanting to be rude I thanked him and continued looking while this @$$ follows me around the store like I’m about to steal something and is constantly asking me what I was looking for, if I said I didn’t know 2 minutes ago why would I know now? Eventually I got so fed up that I left, because apparently my $ 55 an hour paycheck wasn’t good enough for this guy who has a minimum wage job at a pretentious store.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again… This clothing line is amazing. I’ve never had a negative experience with at any of their locations and yesterday was no exception. Since I’m visiting my home city of Boston for a short time, I decided to use some of it to help my sister vamp up her wardrobe a bit. I’ve always had success with this line, so after lunch we entered the store fully loaded. Izzy was wonderful and had great knowledge of the female body and assembling outfits. He helped us collect an arsenal of various sizes, colors, and styles for about 2 hours straight. My sister has a great start to her new wardrobe with new boots, a couple of jackets, and some flowy tops. I bought a few tops for myself: a light camisole, an incredibly soft, white v-neck t-shirt, and a black tank with lacey cut-outs down the sides. Upon paying I also discovered I had $ 20 in rewards to redeem. I can’t say enough good things about this place.

The Guess logo has changed? Huh. I used to wear Guess in high school and it was quite the status symbol. Occasionally I find something whenever the gay boyfriend drags me into a store. But this is just not my style. Everything is skimpy or studded with metal bits. Or both! We were greeted when we came in so that’s nice. The sales associate waved all the new things that just came in. Kind of looked the same as every season to me. I headed to the back where I knew some clearance things would be lurking. I found a purple dress that probably would look really awful or really good. But I didn’t particularly want to try it on because that meant removing 4 layers of clothing from myself(yeah, yeah, I’m from LA and I was overdressed for the«warm» 50 degree weather). Eventually I wandered over to see how the gay boyfriend was doing at the men’s sale section. Ah, he found the belts. Hm, nothing too cool. We headed out but one day, we’ll be back to another Guess store. I just know it.

Something about me never wants to wear anything that says Guess. I didn’t realize that it was a name you wore… a logo to display… I think it’s because apparently they use one name/logo to produce 2 lines(this is what I heard from a clerk there) 1 line goes to wal*mart(OK, he didn’t say wal*mart, but I think he meant something like wal*mart) and is totally different from what comes out in these Guess stores. Anyway… I have one purse with a giant, blinged-out G hanging off of it, and I’d prefer it if people believed it stood for«Gansta.» There are things you can buy here without outrageous logos. The service… seems appropriate enough. Anyway, I find this place to be pretty reasonably priced. Come on, you already decided to go shopping on Newbury St… what were you expecting? If you’re looking for a purse that you can afford to soak in gin and a pair of hot stilettos that can be stepped on without getting your heart broken, this place is great.

I love the various styles of clothing offered at Guess? and despite my figure(that being of a 13 yr old boy), I can, for the most part, find things here that are cute AND suit my body type. This place almost makes me WANT to get pimped out and wear electric blue satin and chain Marciano halter tops(I’m coming back for you). Quality…eh, debatable. I came in here earlier this spring looking for something fun to wear to one of the many weddings I’m to attend this summer and found a number of things that I liked. One of which a nice tube dress which I tried on, and then tried on another, and another to find that they had all suffered a tear in the string that held the sash in place. Not good Guess?. I did not purchase said dress, as I assumed that if I did find one that wasn’t falling to pieces, it surely would on it’s own in the near future. This has been the only quality issue I have come to notice thus far. I returned here yesterday to buy a bikini that I had been eyeing over the past month or so. The sales staff was moderately helpful. I had to ask to be let into a fitting room, while I was holding about 10 various items(hello? sale comission?). Maybe they don’t work off sales goals there, but seriously, no love. I got let in, and had a hard time deciding between two different tops and ended up having to re-dress myself(yes, I was wearing a suit), and then going out there to ask a sales associate for their opinion. It would’ve been nice if there was someone assigned to the fitting room to be there to offer alternate sizing or a female opinion. The woman assigned to help me was VERY helpful which I appreciated, although when it came time to shell out the loot, I was left standing at the register… skimpakini in hand ready and willing to pay, for about 5 mins. That’s like an eternity when you’re trying to validate spending that amount of money on something that you will probably either lose, or wear for one season before it’s retired. I left with little red Marciano bag in hand, and a non-refundable/non exchangable bathing suit perfectly fit for a day at Good Harbor.

I am really surprised at the other reviews I have read here– I absolutely LOVE this store! I don’t think some of the other reviews are fair because you can’t expect to come into this store expecting Target prices– it is a mid-range, trendy store. That being said, I agree that the prices aren’t phenomenal, but from vast experience let me tell you: the sales are INCREDIBLE! I would say half of my current wardrobe is Guess, and at least half I have bought at 30%-60% off. I really love the styling and I find the quality quite good, and the fit, colors– everything is up-to-date, feminine, and very flirty. I think Bebe’s stuff, a competitor, is much more over-priced for what you get, and they don’t have the same great sales all the time. This store is the BOMB! I also love the Guess store at the Galleria, and the Guess Outlet in the Wrentham Outlets has fabulous sales as well. I love the overall look of Guess clothes– sexy, youthful, sexy, feminine, sexy and a little glamorous. Can’t get enough :-P

Why is it that I always love Guess things I see in magazines or on their website but I never find them when I’m in the store? Sometimes their clothes are overpriced but you have to take it for what it is. Is it worth it to spend $ 80-$ 100 on a sundress you will wear all summer? Yes. Is it worth it to spend $ 80-$ 100 on shirt there? Probably not.(Unless you really love it but its probably no different than a style you could find elsewhere) I wonder about their workmanship. I purchased a wallet there last February and it disintegrated in a month.

EXTREMELY expensive– never go there looking for a cute but inexpensive t-shirt or skirt. I got a beautiful, warm pea coat there and that was worth it. They have really beautiful clothes, but if you think about how much it is worth and then walk over to h&m, you will see that it is truly a waste for regular clothes– no matter the cut.

I definitely agree that it’s pretty expensive… when you buy clothes full price. However, I have a few very cool and original(yes, those exist here) things that I bought at amazing prices. For example, this fall I went to the store to look for apair of shoes to wear to a wedding… however, at the time they were remodelling and so everything was 75% off… I ended up finding new dress to wear to the wedding and it cost me all of(gasp) $ 25 on sale. Granted this was an exception, but from time to time(particularly in between seasons) they have fantastic deals!
