Wonderful beer, pretzels and atmosphere! Many beers on tap and the staff were very friendly and helpful! We went back several times during our stay!

It’s been years since their beer hall renovation and they’ve certainly found their niche. The size seems big, but it’s a major destination for the area, so it is always full of folks.
If you’re going to go for a flight, I recommend the Ufo sampler. The staff are also helpful if you want recommendations.

For the longest time, I had never been on a brewery tour, despite my love and fascination with that liquid of the gods. Now, in the past 7 months, I have been on 4 tours. Man, am I sick of hearing about wort. And to some extent, Harpoon’s tour offers more of the same in terms of teaching the brewing process. What they do differently, however, makes the tour worthwhile (and definitely worth the $ 5 entrance fee): they give you unlimited tastings of several draft options. We sampled at least 8, maybe 10 different varieties and were given nothing but encouragement when we went up for seconds of some of those 8 – 10. My girlfriend fell in love the Camp Wannamango, a mango pale ale that does not at all sound like her kind of thing, but because they let us try so many, it became a new discovery. We immediately sought out a six pack at the local store. What other tour gives you so many tasting options? None as far as I have experienced. And that includes that other, more inferior tour across town, cough looking at you Sam Adams. Be prepared, though, because they sell out. You have to buy tickets in advance, in person, the day of your tour. We showed up at 11:50 (they opened at 11), and the 4:00 was already sold out, so we bought tickets to the 5:00.
They also have an enormous tasting room out front, which is a solid bar in its own right, even if you don’t do the tour. They have tons of options, including some you won’t find elsewhere. I tried a drop dead delicious Candycane Porter that blew my tastebuds into the stratosphere. They don’t have tons of food options but they do have three pretzel choices. They have a regular, salted variety that I would have loved to try. Alas, the stomach can only fit so much delicious dough, so I had to stick to one. The cinnamon sugar pretzel is to die for. It is thick, soft, and absolutely covered in cinnamon and sugar. You also get two dipping sauces, a peanut butter variety and a maple icing variety. Oh baby. The bar was packed — it seemed like a fun place just to hang out, and it’s right on the water. Loved it.

Felt like I was in a Viking hall. Drank til whoozy and ate two pretzels. Would go to Boston again to drink here.

Had an amazing experience! $ 5 for a one hour brewery tour with beer tastings (around 12 beers on tap). I would recommend getting there a little bit earlier to buy the tour tickets because they get sold out really fast. While we waited, we had beer flights that included 4 beer samples (different from the ones at the tastings). For food they have different pretzels (salted, sweet and Parmesan). I opted for the Parmesan one which went very well with the beers.

This place is crazy busy on the weekends, so be prepared! Just to get into the brewery, you have to wait in a line outside (even if you aren’t doing the tour). Once inside, you can sign up for the tour, sit down and have some beer, or just have your growler filled up. We came for the tour, but ended up not participating because the next available time was an hour away. Plus, the brewing area is right across from the bar and is a wall of windows, so you can kind of see everything going on from the bar area.
They offer three different beer flights if you’d like to try a variety of their beers, which is cool. They also have some snacks, like German-​style pretzels.

Large beer hall where you directly order your drinks at the bar before grabbing a drink. We ordered the specialty sampler and the hibiscus cider alongside two salted pretzels. The beers were tasty, but I must say that the salted pretzels left a lasting impression! The pretzels come with two dipping sauces, we opted to try the mustard, the melted ale cheese, garlic butter, and the bacon ranch. Favorites were the mustard and bacon ranch! They close at 7pm, and have last call at 6:30 so plan your trip accordingly!

Harpoon Brewery has one of the most polished appearances that I’ve seen from a brewery. They have a full merchandise area including a variety of shirts, glasses, bottled beers, growlers, and other beer gear.
The bar is circular and stationed at the center of the beer hall which provides a lot of access points. The bar was well staffed, so the service was pretty quick. I found the bartenders to be extremely knowledge and patient.
The seating was plentiful. I like that there was glass between the beer hall and the brewing facilities so that patrons could see the bottling process.

Hands down the best brewery I have been to and here’s why. We arrived 10 mins after opening and it was slammed! Stood at the bar side that didn’t have seats (who cares, you’re drinking beer in one of the coolest cities) and not only was a bartender right there as I arrived and with a full bar, but I never felt like i was ignored. I could turn around and the glass wall provided a beautiful view of the working brewery itself or look out across the bar looking out to the harbor of Boston! side note– the women’s bathroom provided the most beautiful with coming from the giant windows facing the water lol
I ordered the UFO Flight which is for those not a fan of IPAs and it was perfect! I’m usually not a fan of fruit flavored beers as they’re too sweet for me but the grapefruit beer was delicious!
Although I didn’t eat here, I guess their beer pretzels are what they’re known for as everyone ordered them and they’re literally the size of your head. No joke.
Check this place out if you’re in Boston but get here early as there was a line down the side of the building to get in

Ahhhh beer! One of my favorite things.
Harpoon taproom is awesome. My party and I showed up on a Thursday afternoon and unfortunately all the brewery tours were booked for the rest of the day. It wasn’t a big deal to us though because we honestly just wanted to enjoy the taproom.
Helpful hint though: if you are interested in the brewery tour, show up WAY early in the day. Even if you don’t plan on touring until later in the afternoon or evening, show up early to reserve your spots then leave and come back close to your tour time. The tour is only five bucks too so it sounds like an awesome deal. I have to go back and give it a try.
We moved on to the taproom for some beer and warm pretzels (made fresh daily btw).
I ended up getting two flights to share with a couple of other people so we could sample a bunch and decide on what we wanted a full pour of. I’m a huge fan of hops and I fell in love with every pale ale and IPA I tried. They also had some beers on tap for a limited time and I just had to try the «hair of the squatch.» This beer was 18% alcohol! It was intense and was shared between myself and two other guests. Even though it was insanely high in alcohol content, it was smooth and had an amazing espresso flavor.
The m hot pretzels were delicious and came with a choice of two side dipping sauces. We opted for two pretzels and picked four different sauces. The beer cheese sauce is a MUST. And I was also a fan of the mustard. The red pepper aioli was probably my least favorite. It was just too red peppery for me but if that’s your thing then hey, definitely give it a try.
Table service started at 4 pm when we went and I’m not sure if it changes given different days of the week. It was definitely nice not having to go up to the bar every time we wanted something new.

Was very surprised how crowded it was on a Tuesday afternoon.
Service at the bar was decent. I enjoyed the beer here.
Private parking lot, make sure you park in the correct spaces.
IPA Sampler — $ 9

Whenever I’m in a new city I love to check out a local brewery and Boston was no exception. As much as I love Sam Adams I felt like I needed something a bit more local and that’s what led me to Harpoon.
My fiancé and I posted up at the bar and were able to try a ton of their beers. One of my favorite things about Harpoon was the diversity of their offerings. Their cranberry cider was amazing and I love their UFO selection.
My only qualm is that you can’t make your own sampler at Harpoon which is one of my favorite things about visiting a brewery. The bartenders somewhat made up for this by letting us try things we had questions about but I wish we could’ve paid for smaller pours or created our own sampler instead of buying the preset samplers which were not really in line with our palates.
I loved my experience at Harpoon and am really wishing their beer was available in Chicago!

Wow this brewery was great! There are so many options, including 3 flights! Beers range from fruit flavored to more sharp 18% brews. I was able to get on a tour, which in my opinion is a must. The tour has the standard info on brewing but also talks about Harpoon’s history, which I found interesting. The 20 minute sampling in the tasting room did not hurt either.
There is a whole lot of seating so feel free to bring in large groups. My biggest regret? I never got a pretzel! That omission will be rectified during my next visit, of which there will be many.

I loved Harpoon! Stopped here for about an hour prior to catching my flight at Logan and really wished I could have stayed longer. Was hoping to catch one of their tours but we got there too late to get tickets for the only tour that worked with my schedule. Instead, we grabbed a couple flights of beer and ordered a soft pretzel and enjoyed their drinking space.
I really like their beers. I tried their «specialty» flight which was Dr. P’s Elderberry Tonic, Black Mass, Copper Crash, and Orange Spiced Ale. All 4 of these were beers that I probably wouldn’t typically order but I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed all of them. Their soft pretzels were the perfect accompaniment, especially with the tasty dipping sauces we ordered — an IPA beer cheese sauce and bacon ranch.
The tasting room itself is huge and has a bit of a German beer hall type of feel, which I loved. Awesome atmosphere here.
The next time I’m in Boston, I am for sure making a return trip to Harpoon!

Bring a deck of cards (otherwise $ 8.50 at the gift shop), enjoy a pretzel, and settle in for a great time and a game of hearts before your tour!
We were offered beverages while in line for our brew tour. very welcome for my thirsty group. Get there early! We came 10 minutes after opening and had to wait two beers for tours. We sat and played some card games and were waited on by a lovely gentleman named Dan. He recommended dipping sauces for our pretzel… be aware, the garlic butter is reminiscent of seafood.
Our tour was informative and light hearted. Love the tasting room– tip: get your sample and get back in line. That way you get atleast 5 samples in your 20 minute time.
All in all, a great way to spend a morning in Boston.

Stopped in on Valentine’s day with my girlfriend. We got here early (right around the time it opened) and I’m glad we did. This place filled up quick for a Sunday morning at 11.
Atmosphere was really great. Huge windows overlooking the water and city, long benches, and great beer.
We didn’t do the tour but it was offered ever 30 minutes. Our server was really nice and the pretzels were great too.
No complaints!

I didn’t do the brewery tour, but I did have some beer flights. They have a good selection of beer and the pretzels here are amazing. I think most people come here to hang around the bar and order drinks and pretzels. I bought myself some Harpoon Growlers for $ 2.50 a bottle, which was sooo worth it. I just wanted it for display.

Got there when they first opened so we were guaranteed first tour! Started with a special batch ginger beer which was amazing! Also don’t even question ordering a pretzel. SIMPLY AMAZING! My boyfriend got the Parmesan which was good, I ordered the salt with a side of IPA cheddar and the garlic dipping sauce. Very good!
On the the tour, it was very informative. Our tour guide had a cool vibe and added fun to the tour. As for the beer tasting you get 15 minutes to try as much beer as you want basically. It was a great opportunity because I got to try quite a few different brews. For $ 5 you can’t go wrong!

Amazing beer I especially enjoyed the UFO white and hoppy adventure. Great beer tour if you get the chance. Also, the food is wonderful.

What a fun spot! My friends and I were visiting Boston and one of our goals was the check out a local brewery. Our flight was a little delayed so it was perfect because this brewery is like 10 minutes from the airport so we were able to make a pit stop. It’s in this huge warehouse with big windows.
Unfortunately, we didn’t get to do the tour due to timing. However, we were able to hang out in their loungey area which they call their Beer Hall. And how mighty it was (lol)! Plenty of long tables and benches for days! I loved the setup! The warehouse is in this huge open space with the bar right down the middle, which kinda separates the brewery area from their beer hall. They have waiters attending to the customers for those who don’t want to sit at the bar, which to me was so great. Everyone loves options!
My friends and I tried two of their beer flights — Harpoon Sampler and their Speciality Sampler. I personally liked their ginger beer and their Harpoon Dark the most. I wanted to try the cider but I didn’t want to bloat myself before my flight. I’m not a huge fan of dark beer but I enjoyed the Harpoon Dark. They also switch up their sampler beers so you can always try something new.
Try their homemade pretzels! We got the original salted and two sauces. The garlic butter and IPA cheese! The garlic butter was a bit salty for my taste but still good. When the pretzel came out, my friends and I were a little thrown off by how it looked because I don’t think I’ve ever seen a homemade pretzel (lol) but it was so fat! See my photos!
I can definitely see myself passing by here again whenever I can visit again! Super chill spot and the staff is awesome! A very funny and welcoming bunch.

An absolute must when you’re visiting Boston. A bit of a walk down the seaport but it helps work up an appetite for some beer and pretzels. Tours are $ 5 and well worth it. The tour guides are all entertaining and funny– definitely adds to the atmosphere. As much as I love Sam Adams, I have to say Harpoon was the better tour. They don’t limit you in the tasting room like at Sam’s. Harpoons rule after a tour: you have 30 minutes to taste as much as you can. Sam Adams rule: sit down at a table and you will be served 3 beers to taste. Obvious choice, right?

My wife and I love to ride our bikes out to Harpoon Brewery to enjoy some cold suds in their beer hall. Make sure you order a fresh baked pretzel to pair with your favorite Harpoon beer.
The tour is cool too, our guide was funny and kept the tour very fun but informative. The tasting room was fun and such a cool spot.

This place is amazing! I will be back again!
Went on a Sunday before MLK day, so I was busy but the line outside was quick.
The tour guides were informative and entertaining.
The atmosphere of the bar area is inviting and is really fun for 21 – 30 year olds.
Can’t wait to come back with a larger group of friends.

Wow what a great time!
I was a little upset that the Samuel Adams Brewery was closed on a sunday, but I am SO glad we ended up at the Harpoon Brewery this weekend. (I doubt the Sam Adams brewery would have been as great)
We barely had to wait for our tour which as great. We took the earliest one available (11:30 am) and maybe only arrived 30 minutes early. The tour was informative and super interesting. At one point in the tour they take you to their tasting room which basically lets you taste anything they have on tap, as many times as you’d like.
After the tour, the beer hall was packed and lively. My boyfriend and I sat to have some beers and pretzels. My gosh are those pretzels delicious, we shared two… but had we had more time we probably would have gotten many more.
Overall was a great experience. Everyone was friendly and the tour was awesome.
Would certainly recommend, it’s a must if you’re visiting Boston. Only problem is the trek required to get to the brewery, but I have to say it is certainly worthwhile.

I came here for their Octoberfest back in Oct 2015 and my friends and I had a great time! The tickets were cheap and the brews were really good (and quite plentiful I might add). There were tons of people there on a cold night and the atmosphere was fun and not rowdy at all. I would love to come back here to take the tour someday and I definitely suggest you come for one of their festivals if you can!

Come early at the brewery opening to reserve your desired tour time, or run the risk of it being sold out.
The tour was informative. The tasting after the tour was even better. It was basically 15 minutes of trying all the taps in the tasting room as many times as you can.
They serve pretzels only — so do not come hungry unless you want to overdose on pretzels. They make the pretzels with leftover products from the brewing process + beer (instead of water), and they are yummy.

This was quite the trek but well worth it.
I love when a brewery invests in their beer hall. There were two places that were on our «must visit list» while in Boston: Sam Adams brewery and Harpoon.
Harpoon did not disappoint — can’t say the same about Sam Adams.
The brewery is a nice walk through sea port area. It is located on the 2^nd floor on the building. The room opens up to a large bar and area full of picnic tables. They have some nice merchandise so we stocked up on stuff. It was pretty quiet for a Friday afternoon but we were there before 5pm but as time passed it filled up quickly.
Bartenders were very nice and let you sample any brew before ordering. I settled on a cider which was very refreshing. My husband had a flight — tried their stout (I’m not a beer drinker but I do like a sip or two of a good stout).
They have pretzels and tours but neither interested us.
If you are in Boston and are a beer nerd– it is a must visit while in Boston.

More limited swag shop than Samuel Adams with occasional items on sale, but the beer hall in front makes for a okay option to hang out: wrap-​around bar, lots of long communal picnic tables. The annoying part is logistics; since it costs money they don’t want to let you reserve online, but there’s nothing super close to the warehouse so you’re stuck for awhile if the tour you want at the top of the next hour is sold out. Not as many food options in the beer hall as in Harpoon’s VT brewery. Ongoing construction noise as they reinforce the aging building.
The brunette in our guide pair was more comfortable talking to the group than the blonde. Industrial machinery in use, so you have to wear strapless plastic goggles the whole time. The included tasting format makes the $ 5 cost of the tour more than worth it– tap dance as much as you’d like for 10 minutes, and with both guides working the taps you don’t have to fight to get back in line with your group. Fortunately, the keg lineup behind the scenes didn’t overlap with any of the brews in the beer hall’s specialty sampler (which were more/​as delicious as the tour’s tasting taps).
I regret not trying the red pepper aioli, or the cinnamon sugar pretzel with maple cider icing. UFO Pumpkin was as delish as the Nitro Pub Ale and Eis Eis Baby; no sign of the UFO Gingerland yet. Liberal Parmesan dusting wasn’t a significant game-​changer over the regular salted pretzel. Marinara and ale mustard are nothing to write home about, but I need buckets of that IPA cheese in my life.

I loved Harpoon Brewery. I can’t give 5 stars because there are no tour reservations, and upon arriving at 12:30 p.m., on a Monday, we were unable to get into a 1 p.m. tour, and had to wait until 2. If I hadn’t wanted to go as much, and if Harpoon was near anything worthwhile, I would’ve left. Anyway, they need to figure out to require reservations.
Besides that though, it was a great experience. We had beer and pretzels in the beer hall while we waited, and our bartender was friendly. The parmesan pretzel is messy but delicious, and the beer cheese sauce for the regular pretzel is addictive.
The tour is short, but gives a good overview of their process, plus you get to see bottling in action. Staff is friendly and funny. At the end of the tour, you spend time in the private tasting room. My two favorite Harpoons were on draught – UFO Raz and UFO Pumpkin, so I was very happy. And they are even better fresh from the tap.
I definitely recommend checking it out, but be prepared for a wait.

I went here on a Thursday night after work and it was awesome! I heard about this place from my sister who went to the one in Vermont. It was busy but also a close walk from the hotel I was staying at. It’s a huge brewery and has a large bar and tons of communal tables. I went with the hibiscus cider and it was delicious! It was a nice spin on the traditional apple cider. They also make fresh baked pretzels! This is a must try. I went with the original which came with mustard and a tasty gravy dip. You will NOT be disappointed. There’s nothing better than washing down beer with hot fluffy pretzels!!! If you love beer and trendy spots, go to Harpoon!!! It’s also really close to the water so there’s a nice view.

Way to harpoon me in and make me want to come back for more!
Harpoon brewery is a great experience from service to the food to the atmosphere everything is top notch. When you first arrive the service is great they lit you sit anywhere on the long family style tables. We were greeted quickly by our server who took our drinks and explained all of the different food in the beer options that were available. We decided on a couple pretzels and a couple flights. The pretzels were amazing and I must try and the flights were great very flavorful but all of harpoons beer is fantastic I’m a big fan.
Also the view is great you get a nice view of the bay. We did not take the tour but I hear the tour is very fun and informative so maybe next time we will have to try.
Overall Parkerin was a great experience and I would definitely come back next time I am in Boston. So grab your Harpoon and steady your ship because there she blows

On my visit to Boston over the weekend, I told my cousin that I definitely wanted to check out a brewery. In the many times I’ve been to Boston I don’t know how I hadn’t been to one! We decided on going to Harpoon since it’s located in the city. When we got to Harpoon Saturday afternoon I was surprised to see how long the line was. I was a little disappointed to hear that the tours were sold out — I guess you have to get there really early. Luckily we only waited outside for about 45 minutes or so (even after the guy at the door told us it was going to take at least an hour). I would have to say that it was definitely worth the wait.
We couldn’t find a place to sit at any of the tables in the beer hall so we had to stand (which was fine). We did find a spot at the bar later on after a group left. However, the beer hall did not disappoint! We got two tasting flights — one of the seasonal and one UFO. Both were great but I liked the UFO better. Harpoon is also known for their yummy pretzels which I was excited to try! We got one parmesan and one salted. I liked the salted one better as I thought the parmesan had too much parmesan cheese on it. Each pretzel (which are gigantic by the way) comes with two dipping sauces. For the salted we went with the cheese and the garlic butter. I liked the cheese better — I thought the garlic butter was too garlicy for my taste. I also tried to order a sprite, however, they only serve beers and waters which I thought was a little odd — but hey, it’s a brewery!
Overall, I will definitely be coming back! Maybe this time for Harpoonfest!

Come for the soft pretzels, then stay for some beer. Crispy crust, fluffy middle. Yes, please. I picked the IPA cheese & mustard sauces to accompany mine, and they were the perfect pretzel pals! *NOTE: the mustard is packed with seeds and has a strong taste! I happen to love that, but if you’re not expecting it, it can hit you like a kick to the nose.
When I first walked into the tap room on a Saturday night, I was surprised by how modern and clean it looked. Sure, it had the long wooden tables one would expect in a beer hall, but the fancy lighting fixtures and hardwood flooring gave a slightly more hip vibe. After a brief moment of indecision, I ended up ordering the UFO sampler, which was an excellent choice ($ 9 for a 4 beer flight). All four were delicious, but the Hefeweizen and Pumpkin Ale stood out in the end.
I’ve heard this place can get packed, and I’m not surprised. This is a great place to hang out with friends!

I haven’t gone to the tour yet, but I came for Harpoonfest! Harpoonfest is outdoors and has food trucks and music. We got our beers and grabbed a pretzel that Harpoon is known for — and YES, it’s amazing and lived up to the hype. The pretzel is perfectly soft and well salted. They only had the normal mustard, and didn’t have the different sauces that everyone talks about, so that was a bit of a bummer — but I am not opposed to having the classic pretzel and mustard for dipping!
They had a wide array of their beer options for Harpoonfest, and it was really fun! $ 20 for Saturday admission included a beer, a pint cup, and admission for the festival, which was awesome. Lots of people were there and it was fun to roam around the fest to experience all the music going on. Oh and sign up for Friend of Harpoon online so you can skip the line or get cheaper admission on fest days!
Overall– really fun and love Harpoons beer of course. I’m a huge fan of the Harpoon White and the Harpoon Big Squeeze!

Oh wait, you probably want to hear about the beer! Visited Harpoon yesterday as one of our final Boston trips. Really cool space — huge bar and a number of large wooden tables in the «beer hall.» Didn’t do a tour so can’t speak to that but did enjoy a pretzel, a flight, and a few pints.
Tried the seasonal flight, which included UFO pumpkin, pumpkin cider, imperial pumpkin, and Oktoberfest. This is my kind of flight! My personal favorite was the UFO pumpkin, and I also really liked the pumpkin cider — very unique.
There were lots of other beers to choose from, though I stuck to the seasonals during this particular visit.
I’d be a regular if I lived in the area.

This is such a great tour! I came here on my trip to Boston because this tour got better reviews than the Sam Adams tour. Harpoon’s did not disappoint!
We got there around 11am on a Saturday because we heard the tour booked up quickly. I’m glad we did because by the time we left at 2pm, there was a line wrapped around the door. Even though they run the tours every 20 minutes, the next available one wasn’t for an hour. We sat at the bar and ordered the UFO sampler which was very tasty and large enough for two people to share. I liked the look of their bar area– there was tons of seating and huge windows overlooking the water. I thought people only went there for the tours, but it seemed like several groups were just there for the bar scene.
The tour itself was a perfect combination of informational + fun. Sometimes these tours can get a little dull, but our two tour guides had a good sense of humor and kept the information light. At the end of the tour, they give you about 15 – 20 minutes in the tasting room to try as many of the beers you want. Not gonna lie, I tried every one and then some!
We were having so much fun that after the tour we stayed at the bar and got another round of our favorites plus a pretzel. The pretzel was soooo yummy!!! Better than some of the pretzels I’ve eaten in Germany.
I highly recommend this tour, it was $ 5 that was very well spent.

Love this tap room and brewery… it just seems right. When you’re staying in Boston and especially the Waterfront area drop into Harpoon, you will not be disappointed.
It’s a spacious room with plenty of seats, tours, and a fabulous selection of beers. Pull up a seat at the bar and ask the staff what they recommend. It’s pretty amazing all the choices they have so if you’re having trouble deciding grab a sampler and try 4 different types. I like how they combine their flights… they know what they are doing. They also have amazing soft pretzels to tie you over until your next meal.
Parking can be an issue, but seriously it’s not that bad. If you arrive before 5pm you can’t park in their lot. Just find one of the other parking areas located right before or after The Harpoon location. You may have a 2 minute walk… just suck it up.,
Great gift store with plenty of Harpoon garb… T’s, bar ware, glassware, etc… don’t forget to take a Growler home… homey…

Finally getting this review done after a year, but much like a fine beer, my memories have aged well over time. I still can say, with absolute certainty, that this is the best pretzel I’ve ever had. But I’m getting ahead of myself… skip the tour and go to the bar/​table area and have a blast.
The beer is of course excellent and the atmosphere is a fun time — I would recommend going with a group for the best experience. But really, don’t miss the pretzels. They match perfectly with the beer and make the whole time better. Mmm pretzels.
Definitely worth an early afternoon visit if you’re in Boston!
