Good but not great. I went here based off a recommendation from a friend but I guess I need to be more careful about who my friends are. The food is priced a little lower than other restaurants in the area, and there are a lot of good options on the menu(I had a really hard time deciding). My meal was ok. It was strange to have the salad I ordered come out with the meal AND on the same plate. Service was good but I was quite underwhelmed by the taste. Maybe next time.

This place could easily get 1 star because of our waitress but I won’t put my one experience on her. I asked for a salad in place of my second side, it came out with my meal(admittedly I did not specify I wanted it earlier), it did not come with the dressing I ordered, and the entrée was not what I ordered. I ordered the country fried chicken and got some sort of baked, herby chicken dish. She was eating soup and doing a crossword puzzle and watching the hockey game. Then again, the Bruins were playing and the Patriots had just lost to theBroncos in the AFC championship game. I’d be miserable too. With all that being said, all the food I received was good. The mac n cheese was quite delicious. It was nice having a local place in this area that is a much cheaper option than the other $ 25/plate places. It’s a cool, local hole in the hole and I just wish we had better service.

This bar looks so dive-y when you walk in, but it is seriously some of the best food in Boston! Their blackened chicken Caesar salad is SODELICIOUS! It has the perfect amount of chicken, lettuce, croutons & dressing! They also seem to chop the romain, so it’s not in these huge bites and you don’t need to use your knife! I bring whoever I’m with to this bar for dinner anytime I am in the area and I have never been disappointed.

During our stay in Boston, this was our go-to late night dive spot. The drink prices were basically what you would expect from the area — not great but not terrible. We didn’t try the food. The atmosphere was typical hole in the wall with a jukebox, but for some reason it just kept bringing us back night after night.

Five stars for being such a surprise hit. New Year’s Eve. Family of six with the hangries. Happened upon this place. Looked kinda dark from the outside and the initial impression of «need to see your IDs» as we walked in wasn’t great(he was friendly though)!but once we sat down, it was really great. Very good prices. Plentiful portions. GREAT wings(especially the honey bbq). Good food. Service was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Place was clean, including bath rooms. Again, really great.

I can’t in good conscience give this place five stars bc it’s mediocre pub style food. But I keep coming back. Alcohol is normal expensive Boston price. Some cool cocktails. Manager(or owner?) is always at the bar but I have never been greeted by him. I have gotten almost everything on the menu. They are most known for their burgers. Some of my friends think it’s the best burger in Boston. Their sweet potato fries are delicious. If you get an order of it as an appetizer you get this sweet bourbon sauce which is awesome. Their regular fries are also delicious. I am not a fan of the tater tots. Their wings are okay. Their salads are hit or miss. If they have a salad on their special menu(the one that constantly changes), I usually get it. I wouldn’t personally get anything on their«entrée» menu bc it’s expensive and nothing I got there particularly stood out. Their roasted red pepper hummus with pita chips is delicious!!! I ask for half pita chips and half celery. Their pita chips are literally pita bread deep fried… best. I get half celery bc I can never ever finish it. The hummus is enough for like party of 8. It’s rly dark in there. And there’s two TVs for sport fans. It’s seat yourself so go inside, grab a booth, get the hummus and burgers, leave happy.

I was looking for a hole in the wall, pub-style restaurant to enjoy a meal with the family when they were in Boston visiting. Intermission Tavern was on my radar after reading the positive reviews, so we decided to check it out. Intermission was a warm welcome on a cold night. We were greeted by a pleasant waiter who told us we could sit anywhere, and with seating at the bar and a limited number of tables, we were able to nestle ourselves into a corner. Intermission definitely has the neighborhood feel to it, and being right in the heart of the Theatre District, I was shocked at how cozy it felt. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful, taking our somewhat complicated and convoluted order with nothing but her memory. The outcome? She got everything right, from the drinks to the appetizers to the specific requests for our meals. I split the Intermission Mac and Cheese(with chicken) with my father, and it was absolutely deliciously — warm, hearty, and far from dry. Because that wasn’t enough, I also ordered the Texas Burger, which was topped with onion rings, cheddar cheese, bacon, and bbq sauce. It was cooked to perfection and had a crash of flavors which went together oh, so well. Great food, friendly service, and a quaint, neighborhood atmosphere makes Intermission Tavern one of the best places to enjoy a wholesome, delicious meal and drinks with friends and family.

Stopped in with a group of friends before a play at the Wang Center. Pleasantly surprised. The food was really delicious, especially the burgers and crab cakes. Waitress was awesome. I gave a 4 only because the reuban was disappointing. It’s my favorite sandwich and this one just didn’t hit the mark.

My friends and I arrived at the Park Plaza hotel hungry and in need of a drink, and we were directed here. The kitchen was open later than most and the menu had something for each of us(the portobello burger was great). The bartenders were attentive, friendly, willing to answer our touristy questions, suggested places to check out, and did it all with a genuine friendliness. Despite it being in the theater district and not quite a local watering hole, I would definitely go back if I were in the area and in need of a dark yet inviting bar.

Danger Will Robinson. Danger Will Robinson. As we approached the door the door man asked for our ID’s. I started to run but realized. wait. I’m actually old enough to get in here… phew. but Danger. I brought my 16 year old daughter with us. She’s out on probation for trashing another bar down the street and starting a massive Black Lives Matter sit in rally but… hey… she’s on probation with her parents and I am sure we won’t get into THAT much trouble. The door man was great. Said. «wait one minute». Went and got the owner and when she came out she welcomed us with open arms. Was truly a way to handle it and they did amazingly well taking care of the situation. We handcuffed my daughter to the table we sat at… removed steak knives from a 3 table radius and proceeded to order three different meals that were all slamming good. Don’t give me this. «it’s cheap» it’s «tepid», «it’s red colored risotto» or the waitress or service was slow. it’s a frigging restaurant in downtown and it’s busy, people are working and I think the food is inexpensive for the overall experience and the location. It’s a good go to restaurant and I can see myself«going to it» tonight after the movies. With my daughter in tow!

Came here for a late lunch so there were only a few people inside. The bartender, who was also our server, was really nice. Loved her Irish accent. My daughter had the chicken Caesar wrap, hubby had the fried chicken sandwich and I had the BLT on white toast. Everything was delicious. The BLT didn’t seem very toasted but I found it still«toasty» enough with lots of bacon and tomato. Portion sizes were large and prices were good for the amount of food we got. I had a bottle of Heineken, which was nice and cold. It was really hot outside and the A/C was nice and refreshing.

I was only visiting Boston for a couple of days, but this place still became something like my home bar. The staff is friendly and quick, the beer is good, the atmosphere cozy and the food is awesome(except for the Mac & Cheese). I really liked the Sunshine Burger and the draught Stella. A perfect combination. The other guests are nice as well and less pretentious than in most other bars I’ve seen in Boston. If I come back to Boston, this is the first place for me to go.

Intermission is an unfortunately mediocre restaurant in an area over saturated with restaurants. The good: — waitress was nice — clam chowder, though tepid and uncommonly thick, was pretty good The bad: — crab cakes were more filler than crab — risotto was pretty bad – creative in the worst way, for some reason it was bright red(leave risotto alone) Not the worst I’ve had, but you have options. Go elsewhere.

Absolutely love this diamond in the rough. I came here once for lunch, got the burger and sampled some of my friend’s sweet potato fries. IT passes test #1 with flying colors and levels up. XP +5, Charisma +3. Came here again with a group of six friends for drinks. We ordered tequila shots(what was I thinking?) They promptly filled up six lowball glasses halfway. As Hemingway would say, we got tight. IT levels up again. XP +7, Charisma +2, Generosity +2. Tim(Pyrrhically?) levels up, too. XP +2, Sobriety –4, Good Feelings +10. We ended up closing out the bar, and had a great time just shooting the breeze. We were the last to leave, and the wait staff incredibly kind and courteous. Like the first time. See you next time!

The Intermission is like a rite of passage when it comes to events in the Theatre District. What’s not to like about this place? It’s a come-as-you-are type of establishment. They know their customer base — they want to eat and drink quickly and at an affordable price point since they’re already paying Boston show prices(typically at the equity or union rate, too). Anyway, my friend and I came here one night before seeing a show(surprise, surprise). Yes, it gets very busy and sometimes very quickly. However, if you are slightly patient, there is a good chance that one of the bar seats will turnover rather quickly, too. And that’s just what happened for us. We were running short on time so we ordered a plate of the boneless barbecue bites and a huge-ass plate of fries. The food came really quickly and as it turned out, the«boneless bites» were essentially chicken fingers. So it wasn’t exactly what I thought they would be, but they actually weren’t bad. Wings, boneless wings, chicken fingers … they’re all fried and seriously, how do you screw them up? Our bartender was super friendly and the other bartender was exchanging some friendly banter with us. He knew we weren’t tourists and that we knew the ins-and-outs of the city so the conversation was rather snarky but fun. Overall, it’s a fun place to go before a show. Do keep track of the time so you’re not having to rush out or be late to your show. Be patient and you’ll get a table or a bar seat with no problem.

This place is very unassuming, especially being right next to the Tam(aka the dive bar extraordinaire). However, that’s what makes this place great. It’s low-key, you can get food here too(haven’t tried any, though), and grab great drinks. I was never really into martinis, and then all things changed once I got here. They make a mean martini! First time I went here, a couple of coworkers and I got Manhattans. It was insanely strong(as it should be), but it was still drinkable, which is how I would classify a martini. They also have a separate menu for their own list of martinis. Came here another time with other coworkers, and we got the chocolate and tiramisu martinis. Delicious, but still very potent! Take a swing by here if you’re looking to change up your drinking ways!

Dropped in for the New England Patriot game. I enjoy a little dive or pub and this wasn’t to bad. The Caesar salad my girlfriend ordered was over dressed(not surprising) but the bartenders were friendly and helpful giving tips on where to go in Boston. A couple good beers on tap. Drank a Yuengling Lager draft. It’s been years since I’ve had that beer. 3 star bar

I liked this place so much better than the neighboring Tam, there’s no comparison. + Friendly, chatty, helpful bar staff shared great ideas and information with us. I guess this used to be a gentleman’s club long, long ago… interesting. Was made to feel like a regular, despite this being the first(and only) visit. + Good tap list; tried a few really unique brews, and they were reasonably priced + Friendly patrons; one of the regulars made a few suggestions for Chowder and unique Chinese food + Comfy interior with great feel and vibe. Bar was super inviting. Background music was really cool — I used Shazam a bunch of times and scored some awesome new tunes. Don’t hesitate to drop-in for a drink and light bite here. You won’t be disappointed.

Intermission serves up some classy grub. I was really impressed with this bar, which we chose for lunch solely based on its proximity to the Boston Common/Public Garden. We started with the spinach and artichoke dip. This came with a heaping pile of warm pita bread slices. Oh my goodness. Delicious. Definitely ranks near the top of the most wonderful dips I’ve consumed, for sure. By the time we were through with the app, we were… beyond full. I really didn’t even need more food. But, since we had already ordered… My main dish was the fried chicken sandwich, served with curly fries. This was ALSO amazing. It had swiss cheese and bacon on it, and it was sooo good. I hated how much of it I had to leave behind since we were tourists and weren’t heading back to our hotel in the near future. I insisted to our(extremely friendly!) server that I loved it, but was just too full from the app. My mom was less thrilled with her chicken caesar wrap. She didn’t like the sauce in it. I tried it and thought it was great, but it definitely had a different kick to it, so I understand why she personally didn’t like it. Another thing going for Intermission? It’s so clean! Or, well, at least it was at midday. I know it’s a bar right off a college campus, so that could make it questionable, but nope. It was great all around. Even the bathroom. Really enjoyed my visit. If I’m back in Boston in the future and in the area, I’ll definitely make sure to stop back!
