One of the best shopping experiences I have ever had. Went searching for a claddagh ring in the jewelry district at Downtown Crossing. The place can be hard to find but it is worth it. Enter the Diamond Exchange Building right next to DSW. Take the elevator to the 8th floor and turn left. Great people. John and Kathleen helped my find the perfect ring. They make most of their own castings but the ring I bought came from Ireland. I bought the ring and had it sized the same day. Very fair with upfront pricing and a shopping experience with a personable touch. No big box jewelry store comes close to the level of customer satisfaction I got here. The next day I came in with a new watch I didn’t purchase there. John sized it for me right then and there and didn’t charge. I plan to make this shop my one and only stop for jewelry in the future. I highly recommend!

Flemings is the Best! My fiancé and I went in to look at rings, Shayne was so awesome. She emailed back and forth and answered all our questions. My dad bought my moms ring there 30+ years ago, and this is where mine came from! Can’t say enough good things. Thanks! Alexis & Justin

THE place in Boston to buy your Claddagh Ring. Flemming’s is a true Boston Irish institution in the heart of Downtown Crossing. You’re likely to see Boston’s finest, fireman or cop, buying his sweetheart her engagement ring while you’re in the store. Family owned and operated. Great people who know their stuff.

I was the lucky recipient of the most beautiful diamond earrings, handpicked by Shayne, who worked like crazy with my boyfriend to make sure that they were perfect! The John J Fleming crew will bend over backwards to make sure that your special day is exactly what you were looking for! Jewelry stores are a dime a dozen in Boston… but this one is a true gem!

I can’t say enough positive things about this place. Although I have mostly had the pleasure of working with Shayne, everyone that we have encountered there has been friendly, professional, and kind. I bought my fiancé’s engagement ring here and, simply put, it was a beautiful ring and one that fell within my(at times embarrassingly limited) budget. Shayne was extra patient in my hemming and hawing, and had great suggestions every time we spoke, which was, due to my anxiety, often. She also took the initiative and would reach out to me to show me different ring options as they arrived at the store. It was evident that she cared about my experience, and also clear that she wanted both my fiancé and I to be psyched about the purchase. Which we are, and continue to be. We went back to John J. Fleming for our wedding rings and again, were treated with total respect and kindness, and again, Shayne was extremely adept at understanding what it was that we were looking for and helping us articulate our thoughts. She also offered us her honest opinion about what we needed for some of the details, and it was really refreshing to hear someone say«you don’t need that» in the wedding-planning world, when most of the time what you hear is along the lines of «you need more of that.» Shopping for things like, say your engagement ring or wedding ring, can be intimidating. Doing it here made it enjoyable. Most importantly, I felt I could trust the people who work here. They are honest, meet you where you are, and even make you laugh(!!) and I would recommend John J. Fleming to anyone and everyone.

I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am to rate Flemings Jewelers! After 35 years of marriage, my husband wanted to have my diamond reset for my birthday. Shayne(Harrington) Shaughnessy has been a friend of my son’s since 1987– 1st grade– my son told us she was the go to person for jewelry. We traveled to Boston last Thursday from our new home in Plymouth and were treated like royalty at Fleming Jewelers — we truly felt as if we had known John and his sister Kathleen Fleming all our lives even though Shayne was our only connection. The ideas Shayne had were incridable! I knew I wanted a halo design, but I have an oval stone, which most halos are for round diamonds. Shayne found a setting for an oval sapphire which fit my stone perfectly. Shayne also found a band which fit perfectly. My Husband said get an anniversary band for the other side! My husband traveled to boston today to pick up the rings and surprised me with them tonight! They are beautiful — thank you Peter, Pete, Shayne, John and Kathleen!

I discovered John and his store several years ago thanks to a glowing recommendation from my cousin. I’ve since purchased jewelry from him several times and have always received superb customer service and very reasonable/fair pricing. I’ve also brought jewelry in to be fixed and it has always been taken care of quickly. I even referred one of my buddies to John when he decided to propose to his then fiancée and he was extremely pleased with his ring shopping experience. It’s the type of place where they remember your name when you come in and they ask you how you’re doing before how they can help you. Besides the fact that it’s a small shop with a great selection, John is truly one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. I know this review sounds like it could be a little bias, but I would give this place 6 stars if I could.

I bought my wife’s wedding ring as well as a ring to celebrate the birth of my daughter. Both were custom made and turned out beautifully. John and Shayne are extremely friendly and helpful, especially when being mindful of my budget. The prices seem very reasonable too. A no-frills business that will give you what you want in the best possible way.

Not that anyone has any money these days, but if you did have some, even a little, and wanted to buy some jewelry this would be the place to spend it. This place is a rare gem(ha, ha) of a find — a true family business that is very customer oriented. John and Shane can find or make anything that you want, at significantly less than you’d find it for at another store. Be warned — this is a pretty small business, on the top floor of the jewelry building. It is not fancy — we’re not talking Tiffany’s with rooms and rooms of options. They have a nice but small selection, but the key is that they can order anything that you want. So go browse all you want elsewhere but go to the Flemings when you know what you want. If they don’t have it, Shane will get out books with photos from all of their suppliers and will figure out how to get it made for you. Did I mention that their prices are extremely reasonable, and that they’re super nice? I’ve been going here for years and have never been disappointed. Important note: ladies, you can give them a wish list of items that you want, and they will steer your significant other to the right items when purchasing a present. Now if only my husband would come into a windfall so I could start getting presents of jewelry again, we’d be all set!
