I can’t believe I’ve failed to Unilocal about this place. It’s been a standby for me for years both as a quiet place to work, to look into family biz and a great FREE tourist destination. Nice video about the history of MA, from colonization to labor organizing. Very cool hands on exhibits and kind of hockey but cute movement triggered video/sound pieces. I have toured several locals and non locals here and everyone thinks its cool.

This is located on the JFK Library, part of the Umass Boston campus. The staff is highly knowledgeable, Very friendly and helpful as well. The deal: well other places may charge, you can search mass vital records here for free!

Couldn’t find a review of this already to see what others thought, but I may have the name different. MA Vital Records 1841 – 1910, among other fun stuff. Fairly friendly personnel… sort of, but the people actually researching were very helpful, friendly and interesting. It’s free, unlike the Health and Human Services that includes anything later than 1910 on Mt. Vernon Street where they charge $ 9 an hour! Located n the JFK/UMass complex area. Read the directions about what you can bring inside(small notebook and pencils essentially). Hours zip by there, so stash crackers in your car as there’s no food place particularly nearby. Kind of outdated microfiche machines. Noisy and tiresome. There’s got to be a better way.
