I read Betsy’s review on the bottom and thought ‘ugh. I hope this doesn’t happen to me’ but everything she wrote is on point. This doctor is absolutely lifeless and feels annoyed that you came to see him. As if I had a choice! My doctor sent me to him and I had to wait 3 months to see him, only to have him see me for total of 4 minutes. You read this correctly. Extremely RUSHED and forgettable experience. He barely talked and wanted to get me out of his office as soon as possible. I won’t be going back to my PCP solely because she recommended this guy to me. And him? Yeah right. Never again. I’ll make sure I leave a review on every possible site and warn other patients not to see this lifeless and careless doctor. Note to doctors: If you hate your job, please quit and do something else. Let people who care about patients work. Again, avoid Michael Bigby. This guy does not care about you nor his work. Find someone who actually does.

Hmmm… it’s very difficult to explain my experience with Dr. Bigby. It was super strange. I’ve never felt so rushed and«uncared» for during a doctor visit before. Yes, sometimes you feel like a doctor is all about business(or about getting your money and letting you go on your way), but with Dr. Bigby it was more than that. I felt like he could care less about my issue and like I was wasting his time. I’m sure he’s an expert in his field and can make quick assessments of someone’s condition, but he would do himself and his patients a lot of good if he improved upon his bedside manners. I don’t like to judge people on first impressions, maybe he was having a bad day… I’m not about to find out. Needless to say, I now frequent a different dermatologist…

I didn’t find him very engging or helpful. I was experiencing what I thought was acne around my CPAP mask and he dismissed that idea and gave me some cotton mesh to wrap around the mask(a nearly impossible task with all the straps and velcro). The other dermatologists I’ve seen here all gave me a general exam when I was in but he seemed in a rush and just gave me the fabric and was done with me. I won’t go back to him.

Dr. Bigby splits his time between Boston and Newton. You have a better chance of seeing him earlier if you are willing to travel to the BI there. He’s a great dermatologist. He’s African American and, while I don’t know if he specializes in treating African Americans, he knows African American skin. He’s particularly good with skin care and keloids. He’s very efficient and initially aloof, but if you chat him up, he warms up. He’s the first Black dermatologist I’ve been able to find, and he’s excellent.
