steer clear, worst experience as a tenant in my life. it is technically through Virginia Omar. i had a rodent problem while living there 2 times– was repeatedly yelled at any time I asked for someone to come in– I had literally dead rats rotting in my ceiling which nothing was done. I had 2 floods in my apartment. they are happy to take your money but are unwilling to help with anything that goes wrong. I would never in my life recommend signing with them.

Mike Omar was also our landlord for 2 years back in 2008. We learned from neighbors not to call them for repairs, and we got out as the mold problems began on the other side of the building. They would not let us pay to be released from our lease three months early, but they looked for new tenants behind our backs, even after we discussed our situation with them and offered to help find someone to take over our lease. They then«kindly» broke our lease after they were able to find tenants themselves(who rented the place sight unseen), after installing two ceiling fans without letting us know(more on that later), a luxury that saw a rent increase of $ 1200/month. For the record, we did not expect them to let us break our lease on our terms, but we did not want to deceive them, either. They had a habit of raising our rent every year to keep up with«property taxes,» but they liked to raise rent between $ 50-$ 75 across the board Every. Single. Year, even though property taxes actually went down while we were there. A $ 25 increase would have been understandable(when the property taxes were indeed raised), but they always gouged everyone until rents were so high there would be a whole-building evacuation. The cycle repeats every few years. They also ask for five or six month’s notice on lease renewal wich is the most excessive notice I’ve ever been given, and it was not what the documents stipulated. They will pressure you, too, even though you legally have three months to decide. The biggest gripe I have is that we moved out three months before our lease was over, but we left behind some things while we were transitioning, since we were still paying for the space, after all. While were staying in the new place, the Mike Omar Agency hired people to do repairs and install the ceiling fans without telling us. Since we were still renting the apartment, the laws for 24 hours notice applied, but we went back one day to retrieve a piece of furniture, and suddenly all the walls were repainted, and they had installed the ceiling fans(waiting, of course, until after we moved, but making sure to do this before the space was advertised online). If we had known, we would have made sure they took proper care of our left-behind furniture and small appliances. And I won’t lie – I didn’t want them in there until our lease was over because they had been so difficult about the whole thing I was trying to avoid exactly this scenario. We paid good money to be screwed over by them, but it was worth it just to get the heck out of there. The BEST/worst part? Virginia Omar will grace your inbox with her most religious, political and outrageous spam – but wait, it gets better! EVERYONEOFHEREMAILSISINALLCAPS, ALLTHETIME. Even the professional ones about your rental property. My recommendation if you do sign a lease with them(DON’T DOIT, THOUGH. Really), sign up for an expendable email address, and buckle up for the ride.

This was our landlord for 2 years. They cannot be trusted. They never repaired what needed to be repaired. There was mold in the basement that caused us respiratory problems and they refused to address. If you get an opportunity to live at a property that Mike Omar Agency is responsible for, DONOTSIGN a lease. You will regret it.
