I really enjoyed this place, which was recommended by our Lyft driver :) This place is located inside of the Quincy Marketplace. We have a mac & cheese place in California called Elbows. They could learn a few things from this place. I loved the fact that everything is made to order and they cook it in front of you so you exactly how your food is being handled and what’s going in it. My boyfriend and I split a bowl of their bacon mac & cheese. I’m not a fan of bacon but I really liked how the bacon wasn’t too crispy and how it tasted when combined with the cheeses they used. The macaroni wasn’t overcooked or mushy either.

Boston seafood mac was plenty but mediocre in ingredients and flavor. The bread bowl came out of the fridge and my fork was unable to tear it apart to eat.

Lobster Mac and Cheese was super tasty. Very heavy, but a small quantity did the trick.

We waited literally 25 minutes for our order and it wasn’t even that busy. I had high hopes like maybe the long wait would be worth it, but I was wrong. Below average Mac and cheese. Total disappointment.

Boyfriend and I stopped here for lunch and fell in love. The food is superb. I had the veggie mac and he had the cheeseburger mac. We both opted for the bread bowl and that was a fantastic choice. Eating the bread that was deliciously soaked in the remaining cheese sauce was worth the $ 2. Loved it here. Can’t wait to be back. Only thing that wasn’t SOOO great was the wait, but that’s only because they make the food right in front of you, fresh… so it’s worth the extra 5 minutes.

Awesome station — you get to watch your mac and cheese cooked in front of ya. Resembles a made-to-order concept at buffet restaurants. This is one of those restaurants where the presentation gets you and then all goes downhill. The quality of the ingredients that were used were sub-par. We ordered the Boston Seafood Mac($ 10.50 for the large) and it came with mediocre ingredients. The menu said it comes with lobster, shrimp and crab. All items seem to be frozen seafood and the crab was imitation crab meat. I’d recommend staying away from the seafood selections and go for the stable — a grilled cheese sammich.

I wasn’t expecting perfection but my mac and cheese was barely palatable. The noodles were way too soft and the buffalo sauce didn’t taste good and made the mac and cheese too soupy. The chicken wasn’t even warm even though my noodles were warm. The size small was a good portion of food though. My stomach hurt afterwards.

I hate Mac & Cheese that I don’t make myself. Something about that old, processed cheese that sits for too long. I could never stomach it. Even when I try it at higher scaled restaurants when other people order it, just always tastes old. My fiancé went here while I went somewhere else. She couldn’t finish hers, but damn did I want to finish it. She got a gumbo type of mac and cheese. It was fresh, hot, cheesy, and delicious. This is the only place I would ever order mac and cheese from.

Best Mac & Cheese I’ve ever had. And I’ve had a good amount. The traditional is always a safe and great call, but I’d recommend the bacon mac as well. A must when in Boston!

I’m really not sure why this Unilocal location is labeled as closed when their website still has this address as their current address and I just ate there about two weeks ago(they’re located in the Quincy Marketplace. I decided to order a small ITALIANMAC(fresh tomatoes, basil, American, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses). Let me just say that even though I ordered the small, I still was not able to finish it all, probably because of the heaviness of the cheese. It was indeed a decent dish, but I did encounter a few disappointments. First, when they mention basil as one of the key ingredients, I was really hoping for actual basil leaves, but instead, I think the basil was blended into the sauce(I’m assuming because the cheese sauce was partially green). In addition, the whole dish was too cheesy for my taste, which I should have suspected since the menu did mention three different types of cheeses. If you were to order this dish and can’t handle too much cheese, maybe ask them to use only your top two? And maybe add more cherry tomatoes to balance out the rich flavor of the cheeses. Other than that, the wait was decent because there was a long line of hungry customers as well.

Please learn from our experience and don’t eat here. Within 20 minutes of eating all 3 members of our party were on the toilet. Luckily Quincy Market has a public bathrooom. Not the way you want to spend a day touring Boston.

Next stop after an afternoon at Harvard was Quincy Market, and on this night I went for the special: Boston Seafood Mac ‘n Cheese(normally $ 9.50 for a small order). This baby was loaded with lobster, shrimp, and crab and I got it for $ 8.95. Amidst all the other food court offerings(Boston Chowda) and crowds, my local guide pointed me here to Mmmac and Cheese. This meal was utterly simple, mesmerizing to watch them make in front of you, ooey-gooey hot cheesy goodness and delicous, generous amounts of seafood in every bite. The mac wasn’t overdone or overpowered, and perfect to eat outside the market in the cool evening air. Definitely one of my cheapest meals during the whole trip, although I can’t imagine ordering the large size for one person/sitting! Took care of that craving, I didn’t have any leftovers with the size small.

I don’t do a lot of reviews, but never too late, I guess. We were visiting Boston for the first time, and we are from Chicago. Lots of good food and things to do in Chicago, so we went to Boston keeping things in perspective. After looking at reviews, we decided to go to MMMac N Cheese, but was pretty disappointed. It was a little hard to find, because it was in what one would call a food court, but not in a large separated area. Just think it was a long and narrow aisle and food all along the sides. That was fine, very busy and crowded, but first time seeing something like that. Anyway, the food itself? NOTHING special! It was just Mac and cheese(tortellini shells) with some seafood. It was plain, no seasoning, and all we tasted was cheese. It was the day’s special, so the small size was $ 9. Not the highlight of our trip.

My friend and I joke(or, well, it’s not really a joke) about how much we love Mac & Cheese, so when we stumbled upon this after googling«mac & cheese in Boston,» we made a lunch date. I went with the Boston seafood mac & cheese, which came with crab and shrimp. It was good, although not the best mac & cheese I’ve ever had(I prefer my cheese to be a bit sharper). I probably wouldn’t trek all the way over to Quincy Market to get my fix of mac & cheese, but if I were in the area, I wouldn’t mind coming again!

I have been wanting to try MMMac & Cheese for ages, but as a lifetime Weight Watcher, I could never justify the fat/calories! Well, now that I am pregnant, all bets are off! I met another pregnant friend for dinner one night and, although we had discussed splitting a mac & cheese and a salad, we definitely each got our own(I think we each got a large, too) and a salad to split. We didn’t even touch the salad! I went for the Buffalo and I think my friend got Veggie. We both had enough leftover for lunch or dinner the next day(and reheated, it was still pretty good) and I let her take the salad. Did it live up to my dreams, hopes & expectations? ALMOST. It was good and creamy and cheesy and thick. But was it the best mac & cheese I’ve ever had? Not so sure. I make a mean crockpot three-cheese mac & cheese… Granted, it’s not buffalo, but it’s still good. Would I eat here again? Possibly, if I were in the area, not caring about calories and it was cold out. Otherwise, I might fall back on one of my other food court staples. It is definitely expensive, but given that I got 2 meals out of it, it wasn’t awful. Oh, I ordered and my friend was waiting to order, and the cashier tried to skip her for the only other person in line. I had to tell her 3 times that my friend was next. And they also waited until mine was done to start making hers… I don’t get that logic, when they had 2 burners &2 pans. Considering there were only 3 of us, I thought it would be ready a BIT faster…

One of my favorite places in Quincy Market. I think they used to be better than they are now, but they still hold up just fine. The only thing is a few times when I’ve been lately it seems like they’ve been rushing to get orders out and haven’t gotten the cheese hot enough. Don’t get me wrong, it was hot when I got it… for the first few bites until it cooled to luke-warm temperatures. Just not as satisfying. When I used to go a few years ago it was always served piping hot and would stay that way to the last bites. Cheap, freshly melted mac and cheese. Portions are good, I’d say a small is just fine for most people because it’s really filling stuff. You could even split it if you were going to get something else. A large is good to split between two people, or for one if you have a truly massive appetite.

As a local of the city, I usually try really hard to avoid Quincy Market. Especially when the sun comes out. We all know it gets really crowded and it seems to me the vendors always seem to get a little aggressive. But I was craving some Buffalo Mac and Cheese and decided to check out this place a friend had told me about and I am so glad I did. The chicken was tender bite sized pieces, the buffalo sauce was pretty good(could’ve been a bit hotter) but the mac and cheese part was soooo gooood. I’m still a little baffled by the way this Mac and Cheese was made. Don’t get me wrong, it was delicious. Like in a cheesy paradise of heaven where the clouds are made out of Parmesan and cheddar heaven good. But watching them make the macaroni had me scratching my head. It’s cheese sauce, with slices of cheese, and grated cheese, with more cheese all stirred in to make the base sauce on caviatappi noodles. So much cheese texture it had my head spinning, but once I came out of my cheese coma I came to the conclusion it was beautiful. As a sort of fast food stand, the service was nothing to shout about but they made the pasta really fast and the portions are enormous. If you are craving mac and cheese you should stop by Quincy Market and find this gem tucked at the end of the line.

OMG. MACANDCHEESE. WITHLOBSTER, CRAB, ANDSHRIMP?! Boston Seafood Mac and Cheese. I had only one meal in Boston where I got to pick where to dine and as soon as I saw this on the menu, I was sold. Unlike many of the other stalls in Quincy Market, this place makes the food as you order. I watched as the cook put in four types of cheese, including a creamy sauce, into a pan and then add moist curly noodles and a decent sized cup of shrimp, lobster, and crab. SOGOOD. The lobster was a bit hard to taste but the crab definitely stood out, as did the shrimp. I only wish I could have had was a bit more crab, which would have put this at a 5 star instead of a 4 star. On the negative side, I also ordered a side salad(wanted to get some vegetables) but that was poorly executed. The ingredients weren’t super fresh, especially the broccoli, tomatoes, and green peppers. If you want some fresh vegetables to balance out the cheesy goodness, I’d go elsewhere.

For what it’s worth, I usually prefer my mac and cheese baked with a crunchy topping. While perusing the options at Quincy Market, and tasting a sample at MMMac & Cheese, I decided to try this spot out for my lunch fix. The line was longer than at some of the other stands. Not only is it more popular than some, but each mac and cheese is made to order in a skillet. I was happy to see mine come together, and knew that even though parts of it(what looked like a thin Bechamel of sorts) were made in advance, the rest of it was made just for me. I decided to try the Buffalo chicken mac and cheese. It wasn’t remotely better than the version I make, but it was pretty satisfying nonetheless. I felt the pasta itself was a bit overcooked and lacked structure. It just kind of fell apart as I started to dig into my food. I really prefer al dente, and I know most people do too. Otherwise, I was pleased with the food and the price wasn’t so bad either. I got a small(plenty filling) mac and cheese with a bottled water for under $ 10. I wouldn’t go out of my way to satisfy a mac and cheese craving here, but I would, however, eat here again when looking for good eats at Quincy Market. It’s a pretty solid option. I’d say 3 ½ stars… not quite 4 though.
