Agree with other reviewers; a lot of potential but unfortunately falls short. Pros: — excellent wine and cocktail list — nice ambiance — food is good Cons: — although food was very good, selection is sadly limited — service was incredibly slow Not adequately impressed such that I would recommend, especially for the cost, as other restaurants/bars in the area were much better on a number of areas

Hmm where do I begin? I came with my girlfriend and sat at the bar to get drinks and apps. The décor was timeless, with hanging chandeliers and tufted seats at the bar. It felt rich, but we could immediately tell it was going to be overpriced, which we were willing to accept IF the food and drinks were good. The drinks were decent, at $ 15 each. I got the cucumber collins with basil and it tasted light, refreshing, and masked all the alcohol in it. Do I think it was worth $ 15? Probably not, but we knew what we were getting into. The biggest problem was the food. $ 18(plus more for tip and tax) for the lobster pizza, which sounded amazing in its description. My friend and I have been making inside jokes all day today about how bad that pizza was. It tasted like cardboard with grass on it(there was very little lobster and sauce on it) and had some kind of sprouts on it. It was absolutely horrible, dry and burnt. I honestly think Celeste pizza would have satisfied us more. Truly horrendous, we started dipping it in the sauce that came with the lamb meatballs we got. Yes we could have sent it back or complained, but this isn’t trial and error and didn’t want it to ruin our night. The lamb meatballs were meh, but really, how do you make pizza THAT bad??? Service was ok for sitting at the bar, don’t think the bartenders were super friendly. At the end we both spent $ 75 each on crap food, and a few drinks. Definitely NOT worth it considering what else I could have spent that money on.

Decent hotel bar option for Boston. Service can be spotty. Octopus app is solid. Good option if you’re in the back bay and don’t want to head over to the Liberty.

We have been here three times in as many months and it never disappoints, love the décor and the service is always good. More of a small plate share with your friends instead of three course meal type of place. If you want to sit I suggest getting there before 10 on the weekends

Easy to access and valet service was very accommodating. We also brought a dog and we were able to sit at benches in the rear; however, it was not a table. It was kind of awkward seating where we sat, but just happy they were pet friendly. Menu was pricey and I felt the selection was limited(maybe because we used a Groupon and could only select from the Groupon brunch menu?). However, for an appetizer we ordered the pecan cinnamon rolls and for brunch I ordered the hash browns and eggs, which came with a side of toast, and my friend ordered macaroni and cheese. Everything was good, but I’ve had better. Overall, it was a satisfactory experience. Beautiful space but wasn’t what I would consider a GREAT brunch experience.

If I could rate just the décor and ambiance, I would hands down give it 5 stars. The service on the other hand is hit or miss. A few times I have had exceptional bartenders. They have gone out of their way to accommodate me. Other times, I’ve cycled through 5 bartenders in the course of an hour, so I never know who to order from. The food is okay. To be honest, I’ve only had starters/small plates. The vibe just doesn’t lend itself to the kind of place I’d want to have a three course meal to. I will say, their flatbreads are yummy. As is their cauliflower and shishitos. For drinks, I love their Sangrias. I’m not usually a Sangria kinda person, but their«Sparkler» is out of this world. All in all, I will continue to come back here, but it’s not my first choice for the area.

Went here for brunch, and the food is not that impressive considering the price, but it’s a beautiful place to be in. Super high ceilings, solid service, and impressive looking open kitchen. Couldn’t help but look around a bit. It’s also right across from the Boston Public Library and a number of other great places to hang out so it’s a good place to eat before heading out to relax and read. Definitely should check it out once. I’m thinking about going in the evening for drinks sometime in the future.

I went to Oak Bar last night with a good friend and we had a nice time but I wasn’t «wowed» by anything besides the physical space. Let’s start with the décor — wow, beautiful! Soaring ceilings with moldings, cut crystal chandeliers etc and adorable slip covered wing back chairs. BUT I can’t eat and drink the beautiful furniture so let’s talk about the gnosh! We just had a couple pickies, a pizza with a spicy meat and tomato which had a great spicy kick to it but overall wasn’t super exciting. We also got a spicy cauliflower starter, which again was nice with a kick to it but it had another flavor I couldn’t exactly put my finger on, almost like curry, that I didn’t love. It wasn’t bad, but I wouldn’t order it again. Drinks — My friend got a tequila drink which she enjoyed and then a glass of prosecco, it came out in a small idnviidual bottle which I didn’t think was super normal for a «higher end» establishment but whatever it was fine according to her. I had a vodka drink with citrus and jalepeno. It was made super well but it wasn’t my favorite — my fault though, I was trying to be adventerous, if this is your kind of thing, you’ll like it. Then I got a Hendricks last word which was made well and was tasty. Service — We had a couple different bartenders assisting us through the nice and all were great. Really helpful, nice and offered suggestions. 5 stars for service! I truly think that Oak would fall somewhere between 3 and 4 stars for me. I’ll go back and order an entrée and update accordingly!

Went here again with a friend to grab a couple smaller bites and drinks on a week night. We arrived around 730pm and the place was jam packed. Thankfully one of the tables by the fireplace opened up and we were able to take a seat. For food, we tried a couple different dishes: Sausage pizza(4 stars): This pizza was a little bit too thin of crust for me and was burnt, but the housemade sausage was extremely tasty and was liberally distributed throughout. Tuna tartare(5 stars): Wow, this was an impressive dish. The amount of flavor they packed into it was quite astounding. Definitely a nice, refreshing appetizer worth trying. Macaroni and cheese(5 stars): I am not usually one to indulge in a dish like this, but this version was worth it. The cheese was super tasty and the noodles were cooked perfectly with a nice helping of toasted bread crumbs on top for texture. Pork belly(5 stars): This dish was also a surprise as the meat was so tender and flavorful. Sometimes when you get pork belly it can be chewy, but this almost melted like butter in your mouth. I also tried a couple drinks: Cucumber cocktail(3 stars): This cocktail was good and refreshing, but I was hoping that there would be a bit more ginger flavor coming through. Moscow Mule(2 stars): I don’t know what happened with this drink, but I was not a huge fan of it as the ginger beer they used did not impart much flavor – which may explain the lack of ginger in the first drink as well. Overall, the food here was very impressive and the setting is quite magnificent. The service is quick and attentive, but the drinks left a little to be desired. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you want to share a bunch of apps with a group.

If you’re looking to bring a date to a bar/restaurant, make sure you consider Oak Long Bar + Kitchen. I love the interior design here! Picture a fancy lounge in an old colonial mansion with high ceilings and a partially, open kitchen. Our server, Reuben, was professional and did a great job hosting us. Some of the notable items on the menu are the tuna tartare(best of I’ve had in Boston), pot roast, charcuterie board, and the little lamb meatballs(my second favorite). I was a little disappointed in the sea scallops plate though. The flavor was there but the scallops were rubbery; the chef overcooked them. Overall solid place, and the drinks are pretty darn good.

The food is amazing! The bartender John was very helpful and attentive. We walked in on a whim and enjoyed the atmosphere. Points for the wood stone oven, island behind the bar, the awesome cute as fuck couches, and the two seater barstool. The fifth star will arrive when someone addresses the server who teases her hair behind the bar. She thinks no one sees her doing it but as she ferociously attacked her hair right near the food line I sorta wanted to vomit.

Awesome drinks! The menu has a little of every type of cuisine. On a weeknight, you can find a seat a seat at the bar and it’s still pretty busy but the service is great and attentive. For a hotel restaurant/bar, they serve great food and drinks. The cocktails are a little overpriced($ 22/martini). I highly recommend the following: little lamb meatballs($ 15), blistered shishitos($ 8), and the hearth bread($ 6).

This is one of my go to places for drink and nice dinner. The ambiance is super cozy, whether just for drinks or dinner. Was there with some friends. One friend got the Lobster pail, fun presentation. I got the duck. Very delicious. And great cocktails. Extensive tasty wine menu!

Came here with my mom(great place to bring your parents) and had some drinks and some apps. I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere here. The shishito peppers are AWESOME!!! I basically only came back for those. The other food is also good. Pricey drinks and staff is friendly enough.

Gawd I love Oak Bar. Because I’m a horrible human being and super judgey. The first time I came here was with a girlfriend, and at first I marveled at the high ceilings(and the high prices for the drinks), and the lovely, luxurious nature of the bar — chesterfield couches and beautiful tapestries — a librarian’s dream! Then I became completely enthralled as I watched sleekly clad cougars and silver foxes pounce on young cubs. It was extremely entertaining. I watched enraptured as a leather-ensconced lady almost force-fed a young man a tasty appetizer. The last time I frequented Oak, I came after dinner with a date. He was taken with the scene as well, and enjoyed the Fairmont’s beautiful atmosphere. This time we met two young men who were out on the prowl. I tell you, it’s kind of an upscale meat market, and it’s fascinating. Sidenote: the drinks are also delicious — a mix of interesting blends of flavor, and always presented in a mouth-watering fashion, but the people-watching wins for me.

I came here for brunch on a fairly quiet weekday. The options on weekdays are just as nice as weekend offerings and I particularly appreciated that. They were also great about accommodating a group of seven, which can sometimes be difficult. I ordered an orange juice and they told me it would be freshly squeezed, but it tasted suspiciously processed. I did enjoy the French toast that I ordered and it was served with maple syrup and fresh fruit. The eggs benedict were alright though the Hollandaise sauce was not as lemon-y as I would have liked. To me, a good Hollandaise has to be sour. There was nothing particularly amazing about the food and I would’ve expected more from a restaurant in the Fairmont. I did appreciate the service, the ambiance and the restaurant décor. It is nice and open with a lot of fresh air and natural light. Overall, would say that it’s in a nice location, has some pretty standard brunch offerings, and is decent value for the money.

Gorgeous, classy hotel bar in Copley square, our chosen location for my latest alumni Liberty get-together. At first wary of the price tag, you definitely get a solid drink. I had the Cucumber Collins, which was prepared light and delightful. Their menu has a fantastic selection of martinis and manhattans that are served extra large so you can refill your cocktail glass. Add Cherry. They have a simple food menu with absolutely fantastic food. The feedback from their burger was pretty fantastic, served up medium rare the juices melt into the smokey bacon jam and crispy onions topped with«special sauce» and cheddar cheese. But even the fresh baked bread with honey butter was delicious. I wanted to eat so much more of that, but didn’t want to appear greedy. If you can snatch one up grab a shareable drink served in their tiki bowls which unfortunately were out at that point. Do make sure to come back after a solid pay day with your colleague or on a nice date. The Oak Long Bar will not disappoint.

This place has become a must on Sundays. I have been once for happy hour/Sunday funday and then again for brunch which was also scrumptious. I prefer to sit at the bar on one of those buttery leather high-back chairs you will never want to leave. Food/Drink-The wine list is extensive in the best way; all inclusive country and region-wise and mouth-watering options by the glass which isn’t always the case. Their charcuterie is possibly my favorite thing ever. I think I’ve had dreams about it. It consists of a perfectly executed board of cured meats, paired cheeses, cornichons, grainy mustard, black, Greek and green olives, magical fig jam and toasted sliced bread. The small board is a great plate for two to share with some wine or cocktails(never had them but have been envious every time one goes by). For brunch, we ordered a small board and the raspberry monkey bread which I was shocked no one had instagrammed yet so I could stalk it. The monkey bread was oozing with fresh raspberry jam between luscious layers of monkey bread topped with some caramelized nut heaven. Pair this with iced coffee or hot coffee and you may never dedicate Sundays to a Netflix marathon again! Service-some of the friendliest, most wonderful I have seen in the city. Service at the bar has always been very quick, genuinely friendly and maybe they are great at faking it but everyone seems to really like their job which makes the atmosphere that much more welcoming. Sitting at the bar also allows you to indulge in some order jealously as delectable goodness comes out of the pizza oven.
