Stayed here for a week while visiting a friend. I never knew a building could be so affected by proximity to railway tracks. If you are deaf and your body is immune to the effects of vibration then you’ll be fine. The train might as well be going through your living room — it is that loud and uncomfortable. Can’t see how someone gets used to that.
I wouldn’t have written this review for that reason alone though — my frustrations compounded when i noticed a huge scratch along the whole side of my car from parking on the street. It was obviously done deliberately by a sharp object. Granted, your car can get keyed anywhere and it is independent of the building but location is important and it doesn’t say much about the safety of the area. My friend also recounted numerous anecdotes about his experience at this residence. Seems he conveniently omitted telling me about the shooting I just read about in the other review… not the best thing to mention to a visitor i guess.
Although I’m not the best person to give a long-​term account– I’m told by my friend who lived there that the management is dishonest and extremely rigid and unaccommodating regarding the needs of the residents. The last thing one wants is an unreasonable, greedy landlord who cares about nothing but the bottom line. A very shortsighted approach because with that philosophy a business’s success is gradually and inevitably compromised… as the suits sit there scratching their heads wondering why.

I guess I should have expected this place to be a shit show when after a few months of moving in one of our neighbors told me that a resident GOT SHOT IN THE PARKING LOT!!!. Ask them about it when you go visit. See what they say. Yes I have pics. Here they are:

I guess you can expect this when you are next to the most dangerous area of all of Boston and across the street from ‘the projects’.
You better believe I moved out IMMEDIATELY our lease was up. I couldn’t believe these guys had the audacity to try to raise my rent $ 125. Like it wasn’t UNBELIEVABLY expensive considering the location is in the heart of crime. We couldn’t even go for walks at night, afraid we would be victimized or mugged right infront of the building.
So what else? The guy who works the front desk couldn’t give two SHITS less about you. I’ve never met a less compassionate and cold hearted human being. If he needs to raise a finger to get something done for you, it’s out of the question. He was an absolute MISERY. He has no managerial ability and seems to hate the place as much as the residents. Every sentence starts and ends with «Unfortunately, that isn’t in our policy.» $ 1000 to the first person who can make him smile. i believe his business card says «resident manager intern» or «trainee.» I’m not kidding about that.
The only thing I really got from this place is if you want to do anything it cost more money. If they cant make any money off it, the answer is ABSOLUTELY NO. Need parking for a visitor on the weekend? pay up. Want a pet cat? write a check. Want your packages delivered to you? no im kidding, youll NEVER get your packages on time. I would often wait 1 to 2 weeks to get noticed that i had a package downstairs. And guess what, most times id go to pick it up there was a nice note telling me they were closed. Maybe you can pick it up next week after work. Oh closed again, maybe you can just leave work early to get your mail, that sounds convenient.
If i wasnt getting my mail late I wasnt getting it at all. I could count 4 separate times where the package was marked as DELIVERED but had disappeared downstairs. Stolen from one of your new ghetto neighbors. (the company gets tax credits for allowing low income housing on floor 1, 2 and 3.)
Don’t even get me started about the noise, you are LITERALLY on the railroad tracks. Seriously, we had to pause movies every 2 minutes. We couldn’t even hear ourselves think, no exaggeration. On a scale of 1 – 10 the noise is a 100. ONE!!! HUNDRED!!!
They’ll tell you there is air conditioning, but get ready to be SCORCHING hot in the WINTER of all things. The whole building is almost 90 degrees in the heart of winter. You’ll be opening your windows and sucking for cold air. I’ve never experienced something like this before. The people who lived in this building couldn’t believe what a waste of energy it was to have the heat so high and then have all the windows wide open to have some kind of normal temperature. But all that wasted energy makes sense right? Cause they market themselves as a Green Building.

Police Probe Shooting at 166 Terrace St.
A man was wounded in the leg in a Thursday night shooting just outside JP in Roxbury. Police closed down a wide area while they investigated.
A man suffered a «non life-​threatening» gunshot wound to his leg on Thursday night in a shooting police say they are still investigating.
The man, shot at 166 Terrace St. just outside JP, was taken to Brigham & Women’s Hospital for treatment, police said.
The incident disrupted the Jackson Square neighborhood, with police blocking off Heath Street from Columbus down to the rotary, according to Universal Hub.
Twitter users report the incident could have included a fusilade of 20-​plus shots that may have been part of a car-​to-​car gun battle.
Police wouldn’t confirm those aspects as of Friday morning, citing their continuing investigation. When police release more information about this incident, we’ll report it here on JP Patch.
