Papyrus

This is one of several locations of the national chain. This one is located on Tremont Street, in the Government Center area, near the Government Center T Stop (to re-​open, I hope in 2016) and also a short walk from Park Street T Stop. This is the former location of Bel-​Tempo a local «chain-​let» card/​gift store that shuttered along with Copley Flair another former «chain-​let» card/​gift shop. Still miss them both. Cannot comment on printing or invitations. They have a very high end selection of cards and gifts. The single cards are pricey, some of the handmade cards are very expensive in the $ 6 – 10 range. There are sales on boxed holiday cards and blank cards when they clear out older stock — Papyrus carries a nice range of Crane’s, their own stationary, some art cards (Monet, Degas other well knowns), and other high end modern, designers of note, right now they have the Kate Spade line, formerly Vera Bradley, and I think Jonathan Adler’s stationary/​gift lines were featured. Boxed cards again can be pricey, and be careful of the sizing, some of the square and longer styles may require extra postage but the sale table usually worth a look. They have a nice range of gifts, formerly they carried Blue Q the Massachusetts based company that makes recycled little purses and pencil bags, but I don’t see them in this location as of my last visit. To note, they close promptly at 6pm during the week, I’m hoping when Gov. Ctr. Station re-​opens, they will extend hours a bit for working folks.

I only bought the blank cards and envelopes, but I like them a lot. They’re $ 0.50 each regardless of size, but there are a variety of colors, so I like to mix and match.

Edit– my original review is below. However, i just spoke with the district manager and she absolutely took my concerns seriously. She will be addressing the staff and I am very pleased by her level of professionalism in handling this issue. I will return when in Boston.

Absolutely horrendous customer service. I just left and am so incensed I decided to write a review.
I entered the store and waited at least ten minutes lightly browsing to see if the two female staff members would acknowledge my presence and ask if needed any assistance. This never happened.
What makes it appauling is that absolutely no one else was in the store. They were purposely ignoring me.
I have never had such an awful experience with a Papyrus store. And I was prepared to purchase a number of items.
I will be writing a lengthier letter to corporate about this rude and shameful experience with this Boston location. I am generally reserved with making comments about any form of racial discrimination, however, I have reviewed the other two reviews of this store and can’t help but wonder if this experience is somehow connected to my race. It isn’t a secret that Boston isn’t the most diverse city in America. Still, this experience is concerning.
Brick and mortar stores’ key selling point is customer service, but if the associates ignore me than I will happily take my business elsewhere and on-​line.

I had wonderful service from Patrick who handled the ordering of our wedding invites. He was nice, professional and informative. He made the process a breeze.
I also just go in there to shop for cards and gifts and they have a great sale section.

This store is in a somewhat odd location across from the Park Street Station T stop. It was relatively empty when I went in to select my cards (for a wedding and a few birthdays + a thank you note – there was a buy 3, get 1 free deal). Pro: no line at check out counter, Con: felt like a fool comparing glittery/​gaudy cards to one another for 15 minutes (it felt like an eternity).
I’m a sucker (you have to be to pay the prices they charge for cards) but I didn’t want to walk out with the cards going for $ 8.95. $ 3.95-$ 5.95 would suit me just fine. Given all the cards, I still wasn’t totally pleased with the selection and I wish there were wedding cards that came blank inside. An all-​purpose blank card just wouldn’t work and the sentiments inside the wedding cards were vomitrocious, if you will. I picked the prettiest card I could find without bride/​groom figures.
The clerk was really pleasant and this store made me feel less frazzled than the ones in Harvard Sq. or the Prudential Ctr. I might come back to use the 20% off coupon I got at the end of the transaction. Let’s see.
