Went here on a Monday night with a friend after dinner out to try the famed Boston Crème Pie, which was supposedly created here. We were a little hungry, so we decided to try out the carrot cake as well. Both desserts were served in a similar style, with each being a little personal cake with a side of whipped cream, some different sauces and raspberries. The carrot cake was pretty dense and lacked a little bit of flavor in my opinion. I am used to carrot cake that is chock full of nuts and is sort of light, but this one was actually quite dense. The frosting on top was good, but I wish it had been more evenly distributed throughout. The Boston crème pie was a little better, but I have to say – for this being the birthplace of Boston crème pie, I was expecting a little bit more. The dessert was pretty light, but it was also lacking any major flavor, other than the fudge on top – which was good. Overall, I was happy to try a piece of Boston food history, but I was very underwhelmed by the end product.

We has such a good time. The room is large ornate in classic architecture which makes you feel special. Groups can be loud, but the overall atmosphere is romantic and quiet. The wait staff is well trained, friendly and knowledgeable. Bojan was our waiter, he is a rookie server only being there a little over a decade. High five to Bojan! Keep up the good work. The food is well prepared. The presentation sets the stage for a wonderful experience. My biggest surprise was the wine list. The wines are so affordable and provide a welcome pairing to the meal. Of course you need to savor the Parker Rolls and the Boston Cream Pie(cake). These classics are timeless not just trendy dishes that don’t live up to their hype. In fact, they reinforce the reason they are still on the menu and have survived the test of time. I hope everyone has the chance to experience a dining classic in a historic hotel.

I stayed at the Parker House and chose one night to try their restaurant for dinner. My experience was mixed. The first night I stayed in Parker House I was turned away from dinner as a single diner despite there being plenty of empty tabels. Maybe my casual Bay Area Beard & Tattoos thing didn’t go over with the Maitre d’. I get it, no big deal. The next day I walked up to the reservation booth and a chef was standing there. He was like«dude, it was empty last night» and got me a reservation for that same evening. Now for my dining experience. The only thing I’d really say is upscale about this place is the service and décor. While the food itself is good, you can find comparable meals for $ 10 less per dish in several places within a two or three block radius. I started with the clam chowder, it was creamy and delicious. My main course was the Boston Cioppino. The seafood was fresh but the sauce consistency was watery and the crostini in the bottom of the bowl turned soggy quick. I understand the concept behind crostini as a plate addition though perhaps this crostini was under-done or not left to dry prior to toasting. For desert I had a Boston Cream Pie(mandatory). It was pretty good. No complaints but didn’t exactly knock my sock off either. Would I eat there again? Sure… but only as a matter of convenience. Like I said, this place is alright and the service is good but you do not get what you pay for.

We walked past the Omni Parker hotel during our Freedom Trail tour and saw that they offer weekend brunches at their restaurant. Perfect opportunity to try the ORIGINAL Boston cream pie(OFFICIAL dessert of Massachusetts!) and dine in a venue where Ho Chi Minh and Malcolm X worked, and also where former President Kennedy held his bachelor’s party! Their boston cream pie did not disappoint! It’s a single-serving round yellow cake with chocolate frosting on top. Most of the custard was layered onto the plate rather than inside the cake. I absolutely loved the custard, chocolate sauce, raspberry sauce, and whip cream combination! Note: their kitchen opens at 11:30am for brunch but we were allowed to sit at our table beforehand. We enjoyed their seacoast benedict $ 22(crab cakes, eggs, hollandaise sauce, YUM) and a bowl of their clam chowder $ 12. Asides from the expensive and store-bought orange juice, this was an incredible brunch!

Had to visit the birthplace of the official dessert of Massachusetts. The Boston Cream Pie. Fluffy texture. Not too sweet. Pretty good.

I’ve heard that Parker’s was the birthplace of the Boston Cream Pie, so naturally I had to stop by and try it. The restaurant is very nice and has a relaxing atmosphere. Since we were only ordering dessert(the Boston Cream Pie and the Chocolate Cake), my boyfriend and I sat on a couch and ate off of a coffee table. Between the two, I preferred the cake because I’m a sucker for chocolate. It was a large and dense slice, covered in really rich frosting. The Boston Cream Pie was also good, and basically the opposite of the Chocolate Cake; light and fluffy, with a nice creamy filling. My only critique is the price, which I thought could have been bumped down a couple bucks. But aside from that, our servers were very polite and attentive, which earned them an A+ rating.

This restaurant was disappointing as I was expecting a five star dining experience. We came here for the original Parker House dinner rolls and Boston Cream Pie. The service was good and the prices were a bit high. We had: Parker House Rolls — good but I have had better at other restaurants that were knocking them off. Corned Beef Hash with Poached Eggs — Tasty Grilled Short Rib and Vermont Cheddar Sandwich — Way too heavy, literally made me lose my lunch Boston Cream Pie — Small and boring Pancakes — good They also had a decent children’s menu. The restrooms were clean and the staff was friendly. I don’t think I would go back.

My friend and I stopped in between a wedding ceremony and reception being held at the Omni. Overall, it was a-ok(as indicated by the stars!) Highlights– our server, Todd, was personable and helpful with regards to the menu/hotel history –the Boston Cream Pie was good! Many people seem to be disappointed that it is not exactly what one expects when ordering Boston Cream Pie, but it is the original, soooo… –The parker house rolls were warm and delicious! mediocre points– we also ordered a Cheese Plate, which we feel(as cheesemongers) was poorly done, especially for $ 16. There were 3 types of cheese, but it was not clear what they were. The cheeses were also all meagerly sliced hard cheeses, and it seems a shame to not include soft cheeses with the dried fruits and onion/wine reduction spread that came with the plate. It is located in a beautiful hotel, though! And I can now check the original Boston Cream Pie off the dessert bucket list!

3.5 stars. We came here around 9 on a weekend in search of research. Parker’s is located inside the Omni, just a short walk away from the Park Street T stop. This place looked pretty classy, but it was seat-yourself. It took about 10 – 15 minutes for a waiter to actually come by though… In the mean time, we did enjoy the beautiful lighted trees outside and the overall ambiance was very relaxing. The Boston Cream Pie here was DELICIOUS, but it also was $ 9 each… We ended up splitting each one between 2 people, but $ 9 seems a little on the higher side for just a dessert? The dirty plates were left on our table for quite some time until another waiter came to leave the check. Ultimately, what knocked this down from a 4 star review was the very slow service. If you are looking for a place to sit and chat at the end of the day in Boston, I would still recommend Parker’s!

My wife and used a groupon tonight. Our evening started by the host who should consider a career change. He did not say two words to us to make us feel welcome. Our waitress but friendly but did not introduce herself. I had oysters, which were tasty, but the shucker did an incomplete job, as I had to cut the«meat „out of the shell. My wife had a Caesar salad but she could not eat as she said she could taste anchovies, which she requested none of. Our entrees were very good, but could of been hotter. When we walked out, the host and I assume his boss, ignored us. You get a better send off at a 99 ! As I mentioned, we had a groupon. Our waitress messed up and gave us a check of $ 80,she went back and corrected the balance to $ 25. She said“ I don’t pay attention to those things». Really !!! So I tipped her 20 percent on the pregroupon total, which was $ 25. After walking up to the second floor to use the restrooms, our waitress attacked us in the lobby, talking about the tip. Before I could say anything she realized I have her a nice tip. Afterwards, my wife and I were saying how rude it was of the waitress to hunt us down and then realize I have her a generous tip.

You know, I always wanted to go here. I had high hopes. But overall I was a little disappointed. - Dinner was really good — don’t get me wrong. I had a very nice steak here. But, their«signature» dishes were a letdown. - We did get some rolls to start, but it wasn’t clear to me if these were the famous«Parker House Rolls» of legend. We each got one white roll and one wheat roll. They weren’t great — just ok. THIS is what I’ve heard about all my years in Boston? - The Boston Cream Pie was a letdown too. Light and airy, it was nice, but not much of a desert. More like a diet version of what Boston Cream Pie should be. It needed to be punched up. - Our dinner was nice enough — with the exception of the gentleman who was dining alone and causing quite a scene. 5 employees were standing around him, as he yelled and slammed his hand on the table from time to time. I don’t know why they didn’t throw him out. The manager came over to me and asked how we were doing. I asked him how HE was doing over there. Apparently the guy wanted stuff they simply didn’t have, and was indignant that he couldn’t get specifically what he wanted. He finally left. - The restaurant is nice enough. Old style wood carvings and very high ceilings. Too bad one weirdo had to ruin it for me.

I’d read the mediocre reviews so I was pleasantly surprised. Ben, my server, was friendly and attentive. He was always checking on me and noticing if j was low on my drink. The lobster roll was good. Good claw meat and not dressed too heavily. The homemade chips were good. I was too full to enjoy them though. I got a Boston cream pie to go. It was not as amazing as you’d expect from the place that inventing them. But all in all, pretty good.

Having completely stuffed ourselves with lobster rolls and clam chowder at Boston Sail Loft, there’s nothing that a nice historic stroll and stretchy pants can’t do to make room for the original Boston Crème Pie. We could share, but we get our own desserts because we’re strong, single girls that can eat like patriots… and because we’re American, we don’t have to share with anyone else. So like bosses, we order the Boston Crème Pie($ 9) and the Key Lime Tart($ 8 – 9) from a bartender who’s probably been at Parker’s for the past two decades. You can tell this place is old and has got some history. BCP– 4⁄5 I just noticed that Boston Crème Pie has the same acronym as Birth Control Pill… This review is ridiculous. Anyway. Who am I to argue with how the very original should taste? Well, I think it would have been luxurious if there was a smooth ganache on top instead of a hardened chocolate piece. But hey, we can’t go changing the OGBCP since it’s survived all these years just like this, right? Almonds were a really nice touch for texture, and overall it was a tasty and enjoyable classic. KLT– 1⁄5 Less multi-functional acronym than BCP. Key lime tart should be renamed key lime pastry because there is NOTHING tart about this thing at all. Really disappointing for that reason, and I don’t recommend it. If you want to get the experience of a BCP without breaking the bank, do come here and share one… just to say you had it. Maybe us American girls shoulda shared after all…

I came here using an online deal I had on a Wednesday night. The service was great, there was a free coat check and our waitress was very nice. Loved the atmosphere — of course it’s a very historical hotel so I had fun explaining all the fun facts about the restaurant & hotel. Best parts of my meal: the Parker’s rolls!!! Oh man. They were delicious. Our desserts were also delicious — we got the Boston Cream Pie and the lemon ricotta cheesecake. The filet mignon was very good — my boyfriend got that. I also liked the crab cakes and escargot. And the Parker’s wine(I think it was a merlot). Unfortunately I didn’t love my meal — I got the lamb which was good, just didn’t love the way it was prepared(it was in a thick sauce). That’s completely personal preference though. And I didn’t like the pea risotto that came with it — it was more like a mushy rice vs. risotto. After dinner we wandered up to Parker’s bar upstairs and met some friends there. The drinks were great. They definitely know how to properly do classic drinks such as martinis and manhattans. Everybody was very pleased with what they got. Since I loved everything except my entrée, I’d definitely come back again!

Service – hostess was on her phone and walked us to the table while on it. Killing it! It took about 15 minutes for the guy who I guess is in charge of menus to come over. He was. having a rough morning it seemed. Thankfully, he wasn’t our waiter for the rest of our experience. Juan was LOVELY! Attentive, quick, brought us everything we needed and was upbeat and friendly. Food – we went here for brunch and the Boston crème pie after the Andrew Zimmerman highlight on his show. I would never go back here for anything but the crème pie. My husband and I both ordered the eggs benedict; the classic and the seafood one. Bland, no seasoning, semi-cold and not worth it. The crème pie however was delicious. Light and airy cake, scrumptious flavor combination and the coconut around the outside was the perfect touch with chocolate and raspberry sauces drizzled all over it. If you are in Boston or looking to play tourist in your own city, I would absolutely go try the cake along with some coffee or tea. The dining room itself is beautiful!

I love the charm, ambiance and layout of this bar. It was absolutely freezing in here later at night sitting near the window by Old City Hall, but the view was gorgeous. The radiator didn’t blow the heat out past the register and fire place was apparently fake, says the waitress. We ordered 3 drinks, my two friends getting a margarita. My strawberry champagne drink was perfect, but the margaritas were overly powerful and heavy on the lime. For $ 15 if you can’t finish your drink it shouldn’t be because it is undrinkable. My one friend actually brought hers up to the bar and they took it back and off the bill with no questions asked. We were able to place a late night food order here to avoid room service charges, which was convenient.

After dinner elsewhere, my friend suggested the Parker House for Boston Crème Pie and something to drink before heading to a concert. At 7PM on a freezing Saturday night we snagged a nice little table next to the fireplace. Sadly, the fireplace was not on(!!!) but the radiator was, so that was OK. We had the Boston crème pie plus the key lime pie, both were excellent. Our server, Eleni(Alani?) was very nice and brought everything quickly and also continued to check and see if we needed anything. Don’t be put off my the $ 9 price of the pie; these are labor intensive, delicious and made by pastry chefs, not coming out of a box marked«Little Debbie»! All in all, a great place to begin or end the evening ~

This is the restaurant where the Boston cream pie was created, Malcolm X worked as a bus boy, Ho Chi Minh was a baker, JFK proposed to Jackie O., and where Thoreau, Emerson, and Dickens regularly had dinner. WOW! We came a party of 11 to celebrate a birthday and were pretty loud. But our Italian server and other staff were so accommodating to us and treated us like we are the ladies/princesses that we are not!(They even sat us front and center right by the window where JFK proposed to Jackie) The food was super excellent. I had to try their foie gras since it’s illegal in California and it was delish! Great wine list, excellent scallops, delicious Boston Cream pie(fluffy and light unlike what it evolved to) It’s a gorgeous restaurant inside the Omni Hotel. The evening was so amazing thanks to the staff of Parker’s. Highly recommend!

What an adorable place! Got that old time nostalgia going for it and that delicious OG Boston Cream Pie that does not disappoint! I’ve gone to other pastry shops in and out of Boston for Boston cream pie(even tried the donut version-still good, but not the same!) but when in Rome, must do as the Roman’s do, right? So my 2 friends and I decided we had to try the original makers of the boston cream pie. It’s $ 9 for a single serving, which is steep for sure, but if you took a look around you… you’d realize the price matches the atmosphere. You’re sitting in pure old time luxury! rich green velvet and wooden chairs, gold leaf painted interior décor, and soft jazz music playing in the back — all the feels! The mood is right for some dessert and a bit of alcohol if you so choose. Since we were on a mission and actually just came from a meal, we split the dessert 3 ways and I have to say that was stretching it a bit. If you have 3 people, I recommend getting 2 of them so each person gets a good few bites in there. The taste is subtle perfection, light on the sugar, and easy on the eyes. Dip the cake in the drizzled chocolate and mm-mm-you will drool! JUSTDOIT. Also, wear something nice. semi-nice. The joint demands class!(unofficially, of course).

Being in Boston and hearing about the famous«Boston Crème Pie» at the Omni Hotel took us to this hotel. You can get the Boston Crème Pie at the restaurant or the bar. We ate it at 9pm so the restaurant seemed closed and the Bar was easier to come in and just order the dessert. BOSTONCREMEPIE: They only have on option from what I could tell, the small circular boston crème pie with some raspberry sauce and crème on the side. It’s about the size of a baseball so it’s not that big. Overall, it was only OK… I’m not sure I’ve had that many different types of Boston Crème Pie but this one was like a cake with layers of crème and then the chocolate on top. Overall, I wasn’t impressed but I’m not sure if it’s because I’m not the hugest fan of crème cakes but my boyfriend also didn’t think it was anything special.
