hardware, lighting fixtures, fireplace accoutrements or other items with which to do some restoration, this is a real find; a treasure trove of items with which to add character to any room or piece of furniture you might own.
You’ll find things that are both antique and reproduction in various period styles. I can always find something that interests me. As a bonus, if you need to match missing hardware, say from an antique dresser or desk, you’re likely to find it here. If not, they can make it for you and match it up with what’s already on the piece. Services also include refinishing hardware.
This quaint store which itself looks like it’s out of another era in all the best ways, is filled to the rafters. It’s been in this location for at least 50 years. That it’s on pretty Charles Street on Beacon Hill is especially perfect given all the historic townhouses in the area for which it’s terribly important to keep looking like they were originally intended.
I’ve been especially drawn to the doorknobs. Ever since I was a child and admired the cut glass door knobs in my grandparents’ house I’ve been attracted to the ways these seemingly insignificant touches in a variety of styles can elevate the look and feel of a room or an entire house.
This is a wonderful store to have in the neighborhood. We’ve been in here many times when doing work on our BH condo and our house with happy results. And sometimes it’s just fun to browse.
