This is my farewell review. I have been coming here since I moved to Boston 3+ years ago. The staff is so awesome and friendly. Chef makes everything from the season’s fresh available ingredients. Don’t mistake this for a «pizza place». Yes, they make fabulous pizza, but so much more…, including the best ice cream in town. High cream content, reasonably intense flavor Sharffenberger hot Dark Chocolate sauce, hand-whipped Whipped Cream no sugar added, roasted mixed nuts. Phenomenal!!!

PIZZA&ICECREAM We ordered a SMALLALSATIANPIZZA($ 14.50) that comes with bacon, sautéed onions, shallots, garlic, and crème fraîche. If you smell something funky in the restaurant while you’re dining, it’s because of this pizza. It smells like dirty belly button. LOL. A small pizza comes with 4 – 5 large slices, with prominent crusts that take up a good portion of each slice. Their natural tendency is to char the pizza, so tell your server if you would like it less cooked. I thought the pizza was very flavorful, but not really worth the price. We got the goat cheese/beet salad which was a very small portion and had the weirdest spring mix. There was a lot of fresh dill in the salad, which I did not enjoy at all. Free scoop of ICECREAM with your Unilocal check-in! You can choose from their full ice cream offerings, which range from fruity to chocolate. I ordered the cappuccino, but probably got served the malted chip instead because it did not taste like cappuccino. We didn’t enjoy it very much, but hey it’s free, and I split it between my friends so we could all have a bite. If you’re in the area and want pizza and ice cream, I’m sure this is the best option in the South End for a casual lunch/dinner. However, there are much better options around!

My favorite restaurant in Boston. The food is awesome, beer selection is unique, ice cream is really bizarrely flavorful(honestly, how can you make ice cream taste so awesome!?). The service is always great too. Great value for the quality and uniqueness of the food.

This may sound crazy, but I never really liked pizza. This place doesn’t serve pizza. It’s like they created their own type of delicious food that is something I’ve never had before. My favorite restaurant in Boston. And great every time. Plus great choices for beer and wine.

Ya, not so hot on this place. They don’t seem to know how to handle seating parties. They told us it would be a 45 minute wait when there was hardly anyone waiting. Then after we had been there about 30+ minutes they seated a party of five, that arrived after we did and had only been waiting a few minutes, before our party of four. We went across the street to a pizza place that was much faster, less expensive and less crowded. Avoid this place

I don’t give 5 stars lightly, but the pizza here was amazing. Granted it is a little pricey, but for the quality and area it is to be expected. A large pizza will probably cost you at least $ 25, but the quality of the sauce, cheese, and excellently executed presentation make it worth it. The seating area is very small. If you are trying to go during a busier time you will likely have to wait or hopefully find seating in the bar area. They don’t so delivery until after 5 pm except on Sundays(starts at noon). I’ve had my fair share of good pizza, but this is a must have in the South End.

This place is well known for its yummy pizzas! Icecreams are very tasty but some of the flavors are a little too sweet(I tried the honey flavor and I couldn’t go more than two spoons). The customer service is not weak, but there was a guy who made me wait for 10 – 15 minutes when he was not that busy, just for an icecream to go!

Picco is a neighborhood go-to for satisfying all emotional food needs. A feelings bodega, if you will. With essentials like charred pizza(happily cries into a chanterelle and leek pizza) and house made ice creams(sesame swirl forever), there’s nothing left to be desired if I hang out for long enough. Conveniently, this is one of the few places in Boston that actually feels genuinely comfortable enough to linger in.

Picco is awesome! Sauce is sweet and tangy. Dough is salty, chewy and crisp. Really fantastic. Roasted broccoli is also amazing. Just know the wait can be long — one way around is to sit at the bar. I also sometimes just get takeout.

Delicious, oven-fired pies! Slightly charred, perfectly chewy crust with tasty toppings. Enjoyed the Alsatian(tarte flambée), chorizo and margherita. Chorizo with potato, goat cheese was flavorful and hearty without being too heavy. The smoked mozzarella on the margherita was a nice twist, though used to having basil on this pie. Last but not least, the star was definitely the Alsatian — super savory with onion, bacon and roasted garlic. Can’t go wrong here. Free ice cream scoop with Unilocal check-in! Had the sesame swirl, which was a tad sweet — the sesame almost more like a butterscotch/toffee flavor(was hoping for more of a black sesame flavor) and malt chip, which was more dark chocolate chip than actual malt flavor. Reservations accepted for parties of 8+ but we lucked out with no wait at 11:30 on a Saturday morning. Ample seating, good for groups. Friendly staff, really enjoyed our server. Pizza counter with a decent selection of brews, for a casual date night.

I’ve enjoyed the food, beer, and ice cream at Picco for years. It’s been my go-to place for football parties with friends, parents visiting from abroad, and even for a quiet night in when I’m having a serious pizza craving. Picco has a nice selection of pizzas, which sometime come out a little overcooked, but I think that’s a matter of personal preference. I haven’t tried too many other items because it’s hard to not get the pizza, but I’ve previously enjoyed their calzones, the fish tacos in summer, and the carnitas tacos. They have probably 15 beers on tap as well as homemade ice cream to cap off a great meal. Prices are on the higher side, but reasonable considering their location in the South End. It can be challenging to get seated at night given their tremendous(and well-deserved) popularity among people of all ages, so it’s probably best to visit for lunch, when their full menu is also available.

Trendy place for a casual dinner date or larger gathering of friends(plenty of those the night I came here). It can get slightly loud, as they have a lively bar area. General note: For two, 1 appetizer each + 2 small pizzas is plenty(we got that except 1 small + 1 large pizza and had a lot left over). TBH wasn’t blown away by the food at all, but would go again for a solid experience /amazing ice cream. Warm Spinach Salad: Indeed served warm, which is nice in the winter. I liked all the flavors, no complaints. Good portion for 1 person. Pizza — the Alsatian: Enjoyed it(strong flavors in general, with onions/bacon/cheese) but not particularly memorable. Pizza — the Short Rib Gorgonzola: It sounded reallyyy good, but I was disappointed — couldn’t taste anything but the short rib, which wasn’t complex in flavor and completely masked everything else. Homemade ice cream: Definitely get the Dark Chocolate Sorbet! I was skeptical at first(why get sorbet when you can get rich/creamy ice cream?) but seriously, it’s amazing. Actually intensely dark. The peanut butter & chocolate ice cream was good but not as stand-out.

The first time I tried Picco, I was underwhelmed. The second time, I felt disappointed. The venue is nice enough, and perhaps was considered trendy a few years ago. Although slightly outdated, it serves its purpose and is adequate for casual dining or even date night. Service is good. No qualms there. The real downside is the pizza. Picco’s pizza is thin and well done, but everything else needs improvement. The size of the pie is on the small side. Sauce… might as well be non existent. Toppings are ok at best in terms of flavor, but are lacking in quantity and could have very well been arranged by throwing them and the pie in a box and vigorously shaking. (^_^) Venue (^_-) Service (^_-) Options (-_-) Taste (T_T) Bang for buck Glad I tried it out… so I could advise people not to go.

Wirklich einen Besuch wert. Sehr netter Service, schnell und nicht zu aufdringlich. Die Pizza zählt zu den Besten, die ich auf amerikanischen Boden gegessen habe!

Located a couple of blocks from Back Bay Station on Clarendon St, Picco is a pizza spot for those looking for a finer dining experience than the neighborhood pizza spot. Think Za. I’d expect quality and taste to counter the price and minimal portions, but Picco failed to deliver in that regard. It was slow when we arrived Sunday at noon and were promptly seated. The server quickly came to fill our water glasses and one had a pretty significant crack that should’ve been noticed by the person setting the table. Menu is of course, pizza heavy with a few small plates(meatballs, roasted broccoli and cauliflower), salads, and two pasta offerings sprinkled in. We opted for the mac&cheese and two small pizzas, the Alsatian and the short rib. The pasta was hard, not fully cooked and the dish was dry and salty as all hell. The pizzas were a bit charred for my taste though we were forewarned by the server. The short rib was the better of the two with chunks of meat, onions, and gorgonzola. The Alsatian with bacon, onions, shallots, and crème fraîche was dry and favors were unpronounced. Beer selection is plentiful and Picco’s saving grace. For a $ 70 pizza lunch, there are plenty of places that offer a more belly satisfying meal. Skip unless you’re looking for a Friday night hangout to grab a few beers.

Do — 1. Per recommendations below, check in with the Unilocal app and take advantage of the scoop. Order the dark chocolate sorbet. You won’t be disappointed with the deep flavor profile. Not your generic half-assed cacao flavor. 2. Order the Alsatian. A very basic flavor in the best way possible. No one component really sticks out — just a generally palatable slice. Don’t — 1. Short rib Gorgonzola. The protein overpowers everything else, even a(more) dominant cheese like Gorgonzola. 2. Order the small/personal size. If you’re a dude or a hungry chick, do yourself a favor and just shell out for the extra real estate.

I came here with people from my work during lunch. There were 10 of us and we made reservations ahead of time. This place gets pretty packed during lunch! Our party ordered 3 large pizzas to share. You can order 2 different toppings in one pizza and they serve it half and half for you. We ordered half broccoli rabe, sausage & olive and half margherita. Our second pizza was the Alsatian, which comes with sautéed onions, shallots, garlic, crème fraîche, bacon & gruyère. This was one of my favorites! Our third pizza was the fig, bacon and gorgonzola. Large pizzas come with 8 slices and I only got to try the Alsatian and broccoli rabe, sausage & olive. It was tough to decide what to try. I definitely made sacrifices to pick my pizzas but I was happy with my decisions. I like how the pizza is cooked in a high heat oven so the pizza comes out charred. I also really like the pizza dough. It is chewing, fluffy and just the texture and consistency that I look for in a pizza. The toppings were delicious. I especially liked the Alsatian because of the caramelized onions. The bacon, shallots and garlic made it 10 times tastier! After our delicious lunch, some of us used our Unilocal check in offer for a free scoop of ice-cream. I ordered the pistachio but I was disappointed that it didn’t really taste like pistachio. :(It was good if it was a salted-caramel flavor because that is what it tasted like.

Came here for pizza on a Friday night with some friends. The staff were really friendly and seated us within 20 mins four our group. Service: great, my glass never went empty and all the staff really were enthusiastic about working at the joint. 5⁄5. Food: pizzas were good. 3.5÷5. They are crispy and the toppings were great. My favorite was the abruzzo. Carmalized onions and bacon are simply an amazing combination. My only complaint is that the dough is too dense leading to an uncooked, wet dough on the interior. I was bothered by this but the others were not. We also got ice cream for dessert. 5⁄5. The ginger was amazingly gingery. My second favorite was the malt chip. If you like honey, the honey ice cream had such a nice honey scent to it. All the favors were very true to their label. We also got a free scoop on the house. Atmosphere: we were seated outside and the weather was perfect. Thumbs up for ambiance. 5⁄5 I will be back to try more ice cream. Good spot to check out

This pizza/Ice cream restaurant is the must go to place for great food. I went to this place this summer with my friends for dinner and we tried their pizza. Their pizza was truly terrific and their tomato sauce was a little sweet(in a very good way). The service was funny and friendly. They were giving us great suggestions on which pizza would go great with our drinks. But it was their fish taco that sealed the deal. The fish melt in the flavors were on point. With the black beans, Chipotle, and carrots, was the one two punch. We finished the dinner off with some of their one of the kind Ice cream. Their ice cream was house made, and the flavor was on point. I would run back to this place, this is truly a great restaurant.

We arrived around 8pm. We nurses gotta’ eat some hearty food after a long 12 hr shift! I met my people, and we grabbed a table, waiting on the others to straggle in. The wine and beer selection was on point. I ordered their Sangiovese.(Make that two…) The house was out of a German beer, so I suggested the Allagash White for a friend; she seemed to like it. Another friend ordered a Corona(we’re gonna’ learn her, I promise) which they(thankfully) don’t have! I suggested the Allagash White for her also; she definitely loved it. Everyone was solid with their drink choices. We also ordered a few apps while waiting on friends. I LOVE cauliflower so went for the the Roasted Cauliflower Gordita because cauliflower + anything = happy me. There was nothing exceptional about all the dressing bits, but the cauliflower itself was quite magical. You guys could easily turn that and(maybe even some Brussels sprouts) into a shining star. Two friends ordered the Medley Tomato & Burrata Bruschetta and seemed happy enough with it. The bright reds, greens, and whites certainly made it visually stunning. On to the pizza! A couple of us ordered large pies, so we’d have some fine leftovers. The other 3 went for the calzone with some slight variations to their fillings. We were all pretty happy. Except me… Woe is me. I’ve decided not to fault the pizza chef for this. I’ve had tons of pizza at proper pizza places over the years, and I find, more often than I’d like, that the top layer of pizza dough(that which lies above the beautifully crusty outside and beneath all the toppings) is undercooked. This always has a sweet flavor to me, so I often miss it, until after having a slice or more. Then I try to eat around it, often failing. This time, I didn’t try too hard — and opted not to complain because I’ve come to the conclusion that this is a personal preference(deep irritability really) that few others share. 4⁄5 = 80% which means y’all passed, damnit! The toppings were solid. I started with the Margherita pizza. I didn’t care for the the«tomato sauce» as it was more like chopped, stewed tomatoes — what I originally thought was the«too sweet» element. The mozzarella was great. To this base, I added fresh mushrooms(superbly fresh!), caramelized onions(probably also added more to the«sweet»), and«homemade Italian sausage»(which tasted like hamburger with some Italian seasoning and could have used more flavor). Then desert. Everyone was excited for the home-made ice creams. We got a range of them, and not a soul was disappointed. Smooth and creamy. Fresh gingerbread — actual desert bread with some bits of ginger in it! There also was quite a bit of some divine chocolate sauce. Not a complaint was heard! Our server(Matt?) was the highlight. He was exceptionally patient and helped in our decision-making and even boxing up our large pizzas. Thanks, y’all! It was a fun place. P. S. I almost forgot. The bathroom smelled like pisss. Gross, dudes. Fix that aim.

Came in on a Wednesday night with a friend at 5:30. We were seated but the place filled up very quickly around us. I knew coming in that this was a «pizza ice cream shop», so I was pleasantly surprised by the elegant surroundings. I did not have a beer, but the beer list was great too. My friend and I split a Greek salad and a small pizza. The salad was fresh and delicious and I enjoyed that they let us do half pizzas even on the small pizzas. We did half roasted vegetable and half Alsatian. Both were great, but the Alsatian was out of this world(but how could it not be with tons of cheese and bacon?!). I will say splitting a salad and pizza left me a tad hungry still. The small pizzas could easily serve one if you’re very hungry(like I was). And I also bit down on an olive pit in the Greek salad, which was unpleasant. But besides that, no complaints! I would definitely come back!

Decent place to sit down and have a nice pizza pie, but the wait is ALWAYS so long and the service is very average. The night we were in here the restaurant had a weird smell, kind of like bleach/cleaner which was unpleasant but we got used to it. The snacks are indeed just snacks(very very tiny) so if you are only getting pizza, we definitely recommend throwing in a few appetizers as well. We started with the roasted cauliflower cordite and the salami, cheese, and olive plate. Both were fine but nothing to rave about. We got a pie with sausage, potato, and sautéed onion. Very tasty brick oven pizza, but for some reason was very dry. We asked for side cups of tomato sauce multiple times and our waiter kept forgetting so we almost finished eating before any sauce came. There’s a pretty long bar when you first walk into the restaurant. It is also packed while people are waiting to be seated. Good selection of beer. There is also homemade ice cream and frozen yogurt, which are supposed to be great but haven’t gotten to try either. May come back for ice cream/frozen yogurt but probably not for a meal.

Waaaait these pizzas are frickin awesome!!! I took my friend who was visiting from Houston here when we were both absolutely famished and couldn’t have been happier. So we were really hungry right? And I tend to think with my stomach, so I ordered us a large Ham, Cherry Pepper & Roasted Pineapple pizza and a small pepperoni pizza. Wow, we definitely could have gotten away with just a large pizza! The crust here is thick and charred to perfection. The toppings are fresh and the cheese is stringy and delicious. My friend loved the ham, cherry pepper & roasted pineapple pizza, which I indulged myself in the pepperoni pizza. The total was about $ 40 but we had two slices of the ham pizza left and that was after we both stuffed ourselves as much as we could. I was so full I didn’t even eat dinner! The smalls are fairly large, coming in 4 large slices. The large pizzas are 14″ in diameter and come in 8 slices. I really wanted to get ice cream here too but it happened to be freezing when we visited, so maybe next time. The pizzas took awhile to get to us but overall I’m super happy with the experience!

I clearly should not be the one writing a review of pizza — to be 100% im not the biggest fan of pizza to begin with… i mean i grew up eating domino’s so pizza tastes like pizza to me The reason for a 5 star review would be: 1) Friendly service 2) able to accomodate/seat a party of 5 girls without a reservation 3) server was knowledge about the menu and really attentive 4) plethora of pizza options — and i mean endless… more than Domino’s have ever offered me. The dough was also the best i’ve ever had… super fluffy and gooey and soft yet hard in all the right places. We had the: + ALSATIANPIZZA(4⁄5): way to salty for me + SPECK&MUSHROOMPIZZA(5⁄5): this would be my version of a healthy pizza(LOL) if pizza is healthy? *** MAKESUREYOUCHECKINFOR2FREESCOOPSOFICECREAM!
