Rag & Bone

I don’t think I can say enough positive things about my first experience at Rag & Bone! The doorman was polite and cordial but nothing really beyond that so I expected this to be a somewhat stuffy store filled with slightly snobby staff. I was happily mistaken. With 30 seconds after I had started looking at clothes on the rack, an employee (Katelyn Roach) approached me and gave me a very warm welcome, asked if I had ever been to a Rag & Bone, and asked if I needed help with anything. I told her that I was hoping to try on some jeans but I wasn’t going to buy any, at least not on this shopping trip. That didn’t seem to bother her at all!
She took me upstairs to the denim section and asked me a ton of questions about how I like my jeans to fit and what kind of washes I like. When she asked for my size, I told her and she said, «Absolutely not. I bet I can get you into a pair three sizes smaller than that». I thought she was out of her mind but sure enough, the first pair of jeans I tried on fit so nice and tight yet I could comfortably move in them… and they were 3 sizes smaller than the size I usually wear! I couldn’t believe it. This was definitely a nice little self image boost :-) i tried a bunch of other jeans that she thought I would like & had me try them on with their top selling boot, the Newbury boot. She didn’t even try to sell the boots to me but by the end of my shopping trip there, I wanted them very much because they looked amazing with the boot and they were insanly comfortable (not to mention that the combination of the slim fitting jeans and the boots made my legs look phenomenal haha). At this point, I had already pretty much made up my mind that there was no way I was walking out of that store without a pair of jeans in hand. Katelyn asked me a lot of questions about my personal life which I always appreciate but it wasn’t in an intrusive way.
At one point, she had to leave because she had to go over a few things with another staff member but she had another employee (Jessica Gushner) help me if I needed anything further. Jessica was great too and d me questions about my personal life as well. I had expressed a little concern about the longevity of the jeans because of how much I was about to spend on them and she assured me that they stand by the quality of their product and should anything happen to them, I can bring them in for an exchange or they will fix them for me. She also gave me tips for how to care for them so I can get the best use out of them for the longest period of time. I ended up settling on the first pair of jeans I tried on and when I was paying for them at the cash register, another employee made some very casual conversation with me, which only added to the enjoyment of my experience. I found out that Katelyn (the first employee who assisted me) was actually the assistant store manager, which impressed me because one would usually expect anyone in a mangerial position to act like they’re above it all but that was not the case at all with her. I have never spent this much money on a single item of clothing but when I walked out of that store, I did not feel any regrets. I know it’s too early to tell how long these jeans will actually last me but I feel very confident that they will last me a while. Jessica and Katelyn also invited me to stop in and say hi whenever I was in the area, which was very sweet and personable. Overall, VERY HAPPY WITH RAG & BONE :-)

I love this store! Some of the sales people are unhelpful and stand around just talking to each other but the one who helped me was fabulous and gave me advice on how to care for my shoes. I can only speak on behalf of the jeans and shoes. The jeans are perfectly dyed and make my shorty legs look nice and slender. The shoe craftsmanship is on par with the price point and extremely comfortable. So yes you will be paying a pretty penny but it might just become the pair you keep reaching for. Trust me, even if the rest of your outfit is reasonably priced, throw in one rag & bone piece and you will look like a million bucks! I know this because I’m a poor grad student and thrift basically everything else but my shoes and jeans: P

I love this shop for quality American made clothes. The designs are simple but quality is clear and they even have pants with 33″ and 34″ inseams for the taller skinnier guys! The staff has always been very friendly without an elitist attitude you sometimes get from higher end shops, especially on this end of Newbury Street. Atmosphere: small space but well designed, with unfinished surfaces; the clothing stock on shelves are minimal, so don’t be afraid to ask an associate for a size if you do not see yours out. Overall, a new store to welcome to Boston that I am happy to spend a little extra dosh at to get what I am looking for without a flashy label made in china.

Do you like really like J Crew so much that you want to pay double for it? Go for it here at Rag & Bone. I’m not so sure why everyone is wetting their pants over getting this store when 90% of their line is carried all around Boston between the Tannery and Barneys… but to be fair, I’m waiting for a Fred Perry store when they carry that stuff at freakin’ Hootenanny of all places.
Selection is pretty much modern urban prep (hence the J Crew association), it’s all well good, but eh, I got kind of sleepy after a little while of looking at miles of charcoal wool.
The shop is well fitted and well done, but honestly it felt kinda characterless. Burnished wood, soft yellow lighting, distressed steel touches, yeah yeah yeah.
I’d check Stel’s out first if you’re looking for something more unique.
Still though, there’s some nice stuff here, so three stars away you gooooooo~~~~~!

I’m ecstatic that Rag & Bone opened on Newbury St., but also feeling secretly sad for my wallet. I walked in a couple weeks ago on a whim to browse the clothes and came out with one of the last two pairs of the classic Newbury boots, size 7! I’ve wanted to try on their shoes, but haven’t had a chance so that was a treat. The sales guy helping me out was friendly and not pushy at all, which I appreciate. I will be back! :)

Like the previous reviewer, I’m astounded that this store opened up in Boston, as it usually only exists in the über-​cool streets of the West Village and SoHo. The store has a really laid-​back feel inside, and the clothes just have that perfect blend of casual, understated luxury. The staff is also very friendly, especially Melody who helped me find the perfect pair of jeans and very patiently and kindly answered all my questions and gave great, honest feedback about sizing, etc. Luckily for me (and unfortunately for my credit card), I work across the street and will probably be in at least once a week!

Zomg I have no idea what Boston did to warrant a rag and bone store but we’ve fucking got one bitches ahahahahaha. I am so excited in Unilocaling this from right outside
My favorite casual fashions with a perfectly designed industrial interior with an amazing and helpful and friendly staff. It’s so un-​Boston it’s perfect!
