When talking Jazz in Boston, Scullers is arguably the top of the hub! They attract great performers, manage the shows well and offer a dinner option that makes for a pleasant evening. They also book all sorts of other interesting performers. If you are a jazz aficionado, you should be a regular.

Love this place, not many jazz venues around. I have been here twice, first time seeing, and meeting(!) Danny Aiello. The second time was Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, great show! Afterwards, the guys in the band came out in the lobby. We hung out w them for probably a half hour, real nice guys and fab place!

I really like some of the acts that come trough here, but it’s a bit of an odd venue. It’s in the basement of the hotel, which is convenient, but they have a bit of an odd clientele for some of their shows. The shows are always great, but I’m not a big fan of the crowds. It’s an older group, not that there’s anything wrong with that, but as a 20 something year old I did feel a bit out of place. The parking isn’t free, but if you want a clean date and an easy experience(like why we had), then this is probably your place to go. You can easy drive to it, park in the garage, have some drink and enjoy the show, and be right on ur way home when it’s done. No lines, no standing outside. If you’re looking for a nice spot just to listen to some music and have a drink, then this is a solid choice.

We arrived at scullers jazz club excited for the performance of Linda Eder. Much to our dismay, there was a mishap with our dinner reservation package. We were referred to box office supervisor, Marla Kleman who did an outstanding job of rectifying the situation on our behalf. Thank you again Marla !

Saw Jazz Funk Soul and Robert Glasper here. Both shows were fully booked. Scullers is definitely a great venue with amazing musicians. Seating is assigned when you get to the venue, usually based on how early the tickets were bought, so you just have to count on your luck! They have really good fries and I’d love to come here more.

I think I gave this place a 3 star review before because of cognitive dissonance: I like the acts that are brought in so in my review to friends afterwards I find myself saying I liked the experience because the players are so good. Unfortunately for Scullers, the jazz and the quality of the venue could not be more different. The blasted monolithic pillar in the middle of the room just gets on my nerves. They put 2 tables behind it at which no one will ever sit down. It also means that everyone who gets a frontal view of the set is crammed into one part of the room. I don’t know how you get on that list, but it looks as though you have to either be over 40 years old or have a connection to the place. This is the 3rd time now that I’ve come and whisked to the WORST unoccupied seat in the room. The people responsible for seating are disorganized and constantly stressed or confused, and assume that I won’t pipe up about how crummy my seat is. I get it: you want to save the good seats for people who may be coming in. But when I come in 5 minutes before showtime and I’m alone, it’s pretty easy to squeeze me in someplace closer to the action than the back wall. I was feeling saucy tonight so I asked the ushers(?) if I could change seats. It was difficult to convince them that I wanted to move closer. I sat with 2 empty chairs on either sides of me the entire show. Still my view was less-than-optimal, but any seats that were worth their price were taken by friends of the club. Compound this with the fact that while my waitress, Kim, was overworked, she was pushy in getting me something to buy something pronto and didn’t seem to want to be there. Kim, you did a fantastic job at serving: now smile a little more! Calling these people to try to find out who an artist is playing with took me 5 tries. The woman at the other end of the line was terse and seemed ready to get off the phone with me as soon as she could. Lastly, I’m surprised that there aren’t discount student tickets for these sorts of events. Tickets are expensive, and broke college students aren’t going to get a chance to see all of the great jazz that goes on here. 2 stars because my wine was great and the music is fantastic. Every time I come here, though, I’m reminded why I’m rarely here.

Our family love this small, nice place for many years. Tonight we supposed to celebrate some family occasion and I bought 4 tickets, but the manager of the club refused to give us the seats at the same table. She lied that I supposed to request(how? via email) the seats, and the table in advance. we came early in order to seat together and no one was at our 4 seats table. the manager claimed, that two seats at our table, she gave me are reserved. To our big surprise and indignation, when I asked the couple, who she seated next to me, they did not requested their seats, no one did. There was empty seats in front of our table and around, but the manager refused to help. The celebration was ruined, and we left(all four of us) very upset. I’m not sure, if I will choose Scullers Jazz Club as my favorite place next time. Is there something people should know in order to please the manager before the performance, because you feel like some people are welcome here and some are treated as the second grade.

A really nice intimate jazz club up on the second floor the double tree! Drink portions were friendly as well as the server! Great setting, except the seating plan can make it hard to see the stage depending on how many people you have sitting in front of you. Perhaps a table up the front or a high table at the back would be best. Come here 11÷13÷14 to watch Yoko Miwa, amazing and talented jazz pianist who plays here annually with her trio.

What a great place for a date and night out. They have a great line up of jazz musicians here. The concert was awesome! We loved it. Its classy and cozy. We saw Oleta Adams here and she was amazing. What a great venue. I did have food here but probably wouldn’t again and just do a drink. The food is just OK. Parking is easy!

bought 2 tickets for the show /dinner package, ive been coming here 10 years plus, the food in the«green room«was much to be desired. gawd awful would be more accurate. the fish(catch of the moment was rotten and smelled of ammonia, this happens when fish is very old and is decomposing .I asked for a new meal and it was delivered almost immediately, and yes it was still cold from the refrigerator . I called the next day and was told, «can’t talk to you now I will call you back, what’s your number? «…they never called back after 4 days, I will be calling them back. again . the jazz as always is great but the green room will make you just that ‚» green«after you eat there faire. eat your dinner elsewhere and come for the show, the drinks are expensive here so enjoy your self prior to arrival . Please note: a service charge of 25 dollars was added to my bill, I guess they figured out my tip(2 people) so I wouldn’t have to.

What a Diamond of a place !!! If jazz is your theme this is the room !!! Small, quaint, classy, elegant, make friends atmosphere !!! Share a table with others and at times. what is on it !!! Talking about fun … !!! Cost is vary reasonable for a show, parking cost additional, show up earlier and enjoy the drink at the bar, or have a drink during a performance. Musicians are almost on the palm of your hands ., how cool is that !!! Just awesome folks …, go to Scullers … !!! PS(one negative. is that the food allowed to be brought to tables to those who are hungry. Ooooooohhhhhh ., people just stop this nonsense. will You please !!! Get a f. n clue. ha. get over it. !!!)

So Much fun seeing a jazz trio. The room was packed and full of energy. The wine flowed and the cheese and fruit plate was tasty. The one odd aspect is that the club is just part of the hotel event space… so it was probably a wedding venue the next day, but ok by me.

What a great place! A small Jazz Club that is very intimate and fun. Because of its small size, you’re able to really enjoy the show! We saw Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and they ROCKEDIT! There isn’t a dance floor… so if you’re looking to dance during the show, that isn’t really an option(although we saw one couple dancing off to the side). We dressed up in vintage swing dance clothing… but everyone else wore pants and button up shirts(both males and females). We saw a couple people in jeans. We felt very comfortable being dressed up and felt like that was the way everyone should have dressed. But obviously you don’t have to dress up to come here! We would definitely come back! It was a fabulous evening full of good food, great company, and an awesome show! We made great memories this weekend. Thank you Scullers!!!

Scullers is by far, the best jazz venue in Boston. Relatively small and not a bad table in the room, Scullers is very intimate. Scullers hosts some of the best jazz artists in the business. Wife and I enjoyed a performance by John Pizzarelli last weekend and we weren’t disappointed. A beautiful high top in the back of the room, afforded us a perfect line of site. Scullers also offers a pre-concert dining option which also will provide to you preferred seating for the show. Also, for those of you traveling a bit to attend, the club is housed in the Doubletree Suites, so post performance, simply slide into your room and drift away. Food/drink offering during the show is just right and pricing is perfectly in line to just enjoy the show and not worry about breaking the bank. A great lineup is in store for the remainder of the year and we’ve already booked a few more shows. I believe Scullers has it over the Regatta Bar across the river in Cambridge and love to patronize on a regular basis. So hit their web site regularly and enjoy a wonderful evening with top notch jazz artists.

Any stars they get in this review are for the musicians and musicians alone. These people are cheap. This hotel is an island in the middle of highwayland. Its surrounded by roads and nothing’s within walking distance and they know it — I was pissed that they wouldn’t validate my parking, especially after dropping a couple hundred dollars on tickets and drinks. We asked the management if we could stay for the empty second set – we were told we could, then they changed their minds and told us we had to pay. Our party would have made it worth their while paying for drinks but they’re just cheap. I’ve been to a lot of jazz clubs, mainly in NYC. Smart live jazz concertgoers always avoid the food and they know that the drinks are going to be super expensive and not very good. The drinks here were not fabulous and the food looked below average but I didn’t eat anything. Seating was typical for jazz clubs; awkward and cramped. The sound was great, musicians were top shelf, but I wouldn’t bother going back here for all the other reasons.

Allow me to preface this review with a disclaimer: This is my first time to a Jazz Club of any kind, so I don’t really have anything else to compare Scullers to. Okay, with that said, onward! The Scullers Jazz Club, located within the Doubletree Suites by Hilton Hotel, was truly a unique and enjoyable experience. Though the room was rather modest in size, and packed — it was still comfortable. The ambiance was very suitable for a romantic date night — the candlelit tables, the dim lighting, the music(as performed by Eliane Elias), the modest list of wines and cocktails, the unobtrusiveness of the wait staff… it was truly a classy and intimate evening. Also of note: Utilizing the hotel’s parking garage to attend a Scullers performance will cost $ 10. I would also recommend a level of dress commensurate with the classiness of the establishment.

Went to Scullers Jazz Club on a weeknight to see a pretty famous act. It was my first time at a Jazz Club, so I can’t compare Scullers to anything else. But, it was a really fun time. The staff were very friendly and helpful. As for the ambiance of the place, the room was packed, but was still comfortable. As a side note, most of the audience were middle aged and older. My group consisted of some young adolescents who don’t listen to jazz music, not to mention non-vocal musicians. But even they enjoyed the experience. We were nodding our heads along and silently playing our air instruments along with the band(which did annoy one guest who was sitting stiffly), but no harm was done. In the end, their experience at Scullers Jazz helped them develop an appreciation for jazz music. We didn’t get the dinner/concert package, so I can’t comment on the food. But for great music and a relaxing evening outside of Boston, it was totally worth the price. Validated parking in the hotel for the concert is $ 10. Not too bad.
