My boyfriend and I came here this past weekend for dinner at the bar. The ambiance and service were great. The food(and prices) left a lot to be desired. We left feeling hungry even though we dropped 50 bucks each. We would return but probably just for drinks. There are other great places around to eat in this area where the price we paid would guarantee a good, filling meal.

There are rustic gaps in the mortar of the brick work as well as chunkated Orange sections. Also the year of their first dollar earned is questionable.

I came here this weekend after eating at Tremont 647(literally connected) for an after dinner drink. It wasn’t too crowded for around 830pm on a Saturday, we sat at a table and the bartender made us special drinks because we couldn’t decide what we wanted! They were so good!!! He was great! I got the icecream sandwich dessert, which was not that great, the cookie part was a bit tough to eat or even break apart. But I will be back for drinks again!

My friend and I did appetizers only, plus drinks. One would think that after $ 120 we would have enough food in us to constitute a meal. We left hungry. One would also think that the soggy poutines and incredibly dry biscuits we sent back would be taken off the menu. We didn’t eat them. They were there on the bill, bold as brass. The bartender/waiter was friendly and engaging, but why didn’t he send over the manager to our table the SECONDTIME we had a problem with food that was served? All his friendliness curdled when seen through the glass of the check that was presented to us. Save yourself the trouble and head somewhere else.

Doesn’t Hold Up To The Memories We visited Sister Sorel/Tremont 647 on Thursday, April 30th, 2015. Both spots(now sharing the same menu) held fantastic memories of great meals that brought us back. For a twosome, we tried a wide variety of their dishes… which left us with a hole in both our wallets and our stomachs that would need to somehow be filled by going somewhere for dinner later. SHAVEDSPRINGVEGGIESALAD $ 9 This small(small!) plate item claimed to feature creamy dill vinaigrette, pine nuts and crispy shallots. Small bits of raw veggies sat atop unflavored lettuce. If you dug through to the bottom of the little plate, there was a not-creamy vinaigrette, with a small back note of dill. Pine nuts were toasted, and were really the only notable feature. Crispy shallots were either not present or not noticed. What would have made this delicate side salad portion a little better was if they had actually mixed the dressing through. As it was, little raw broccoli and cauliflower florets do not a great start make. FRIEDFIDDLEHEADSANDSHISITOS $ 10. Welcome back to the very small plate, with slightly over-salted, fairly greasy shisito peppers, with very, very few fiddleheads. In fact, I think they were pea tendrils. Substitution? This was one of the better items. Next came their POUTINETOTS $ 7. This was their take on tater tots, with Quebec style brown gravy and cheese curds. The little bowl(which was to re-appear in every other course) contained two«tater tots». These were heavy and soggy, lacking both crispness and flavor. Maybe putting the gravy in the bottom of the bowl and melting the cheese on top in a salamander instead of a bowl of baked potato mush would have been the way to go. As it was, these were like the world’s heaviest gnocci. That flavorless brown sauce would be coming back soon. We each took a bite, and sent them back. They would remain on the bill. BRAISEDLAMBRAVIOLI, Lamb and Tomato Jus, Pea Tendrils $ 12. This time, the little bowl contained 4 mini raviolis. These had a nice lamb taste, and the pasta seemed to be fresh made. «The lamb and tomato jus» seemed to be just a thinner version of the nondescript brown gravy mentioned above. I thought the green in the bowl was bits of wilted kale.(substitution?) Pea tendrils have a really distinct shape. Wiki them. They don’t look or taste like kale. Although not mentioned, the dish also had pieces of black olives. At this point, my companion asked to bring us each a ROSEMARYBISCUITWITHHONEYBUTTER($ 3/each x 2 = $ 7, apparently). On the outside, they seemed to have a bit of crispy cinnamon streusel. There was a piney back note of rosemary. The biscuits were cut in two, with a huge slather of butter. Never had something with so much butter been so bone dry. If I didn’t try them myself, I wouldn’t have thought it possible. We each had the top half(with the streusel on it), as if all the butter on the next bite might drive away all the«dry» on the previous one. These were bad biscuits. BRAISEDPORKRAGOUT, GARLICBREADCRUMBS, HOUSEFETTUCINI $ 12. This time, the little bowl had a fair bit of brisket-like pork, on the twist of fettucini. The sauce was thin, and did not cling to the pasta. I didn’t see or taste garlic(or garlic breadcrumbs). There is no bread basket at this restaurant(skillet corn bread or the biscuits are available as a la cart side dishes). But, I suppose if you had a salad to yourself, and the full $ 20 portion of this, with a glass of wine, you might get out for $ 40 — $ 45, and only be a little hungry. KOREANBEEFDUMPLINGS $ 9 These pan-fried dumplings has a nice, meaty taste. Compared to the beef dumplings you might expect in typical dim sum, they were well smaller. The order had 4 less-than-teaspoon sized dumplings. The soy dip was nothing special. In the end, with a cocktail, we put down $ 60 each. 5 apps(plus the tater tots we sent back and half of each biscuit we sent back) should have been a lot of food. I felt regretful that the bartender that played waiter, who was nothing but likable and bursting with personality, presumably had to charge us even for the stuff we sent back that was just plain bad. But, putting down more than $ 120 for a bunch of little apps which varied from blah to okay-but-nothing-special was a tall order.

IThe limited menu proves once again you don’t need 100 offerings… just do it right, and Sister Sorel does it right across the board. The Wings are number 2 on my list for offerings in Boston. The poutine hash Brown’s are bangin, and the quaint size and extremely friendly staff make Sister Sorel the perfect date night location, or a fantastic brunch spot especially with their pajama brunch option. Where what you want, enjoy laughs with the locals and some seriously good food!!! Oh and the music… finally a place that plays hot tunes from multiple eras!!! You just sit in your seat and groove… awesome!!!

I can only speak to the late night situation here. We were roaming around looking for a liquor store and weren’t successful. So instead, we came stumbled upon this joint. It’s cozy and quiet and littered with some really strange art for sale. I thought the bartender was nice, and the drinks were reasonably priced. Added to all this is the fact that the ladies room(for obvious reasons) was still clean at midnight!

What a wonderful little neighborhood bar! My wife and I stopped by here in November, having just arrived in town for a weekend. This was the only place open. It felt a lot like home, if home were, you know, cool, and had great cocktails.

Charming, dimly lit bar, excellent cocktails with exceptional dark ‘n stormys. It’s smallish, but we snagged a couple tables in the back and whiled away the evening. Bartenders were friendly and efficient. Really enjoyed the vibe. But then I’m a sucker for understated design, Edison bulbs, and scruffy cuties. And yeah, it’s kinda gay, so if that’s not your cup of tea…

This seems like a really good place to go if you have a group of friends to hang out with you. My boyfriend and I went around 11:30pm on a Saturday and most of the people there seemed kind of sequestered off in a clique and pretty drunk. We got a seat at the bar(which is really small!) and had to wait awhile to get the bartender’s attention. There was only 1 guy back there and he was super busy. We ordered 2 gin and tonics without asking, the bartender made them with Tanqueray and charged us $ 17. Sheeit. I guess we should’ve specified«well» gin to avoid the charge for upscale gin — unless that is their well gin? We finished our drinks and headed out. It seems like it’d also be a fun place to go if I was already wasted and wouldn’t notice dropping lots of $$ for drinks. I’ll give it another shot.

One of my favourtie bars, the space is small and fills up quickly. They used to pull the velvet curtains over their door and windows, which I have been seeing open more often. When it fills up late at night the crowd is a mix of drunken ages and the cocktails sweet. Come early to snag a seat at the bar and watch the tall candles melt away as you sip your drinks. Great for 2 – 3 people, after that you will need to lean or squeeze in.

So first thing I am going to put out there since we were not aware by reading the recent reviews. This bar is frequented by gays/lesbians. So if this is not your scene… you probably don’t want to come here. The first review that mentions this is from 2010. I am a lover of all people… but I wish I had known. They are connected… Tremont 647 and this spot. Ummm… so the reason why this place got such low ratings for me. There is one bartender for the entire bar. It took a while to get a drink for my friends and I… there was no table service. Second… the sidecar drink I got was horrible. Must have been the most sour drink I have ever had. I was amused with the company as I didn’t even know somethiing like this existed… but we left promptly after my bad drink. It’s a little cheaper than Beehive down the street but the atmosphere does not even compare.

Pros: good cocktails, quick service, cool décor, great location Cons: crowd, dark lighting = creepy I felt I had to write this review just so people know what they’re heading to. You read all the reviews here and quite frankly, some people make it seem like a family place almost. Well, noooooooot quite. As others have mentioned, this place is right next to Tremont 647. Apparently the food is good at both these places but I didn’t try either. I did on the other hand try the cocktails at Sister Sorel which were good. My fellow drinker also enjoyed her(stiff!) vodka-sodas as well. Service was prompt. But let’s get to why I wanted to write this review. First off, the place is laid out pretty nicely but it is dark, and very narrow. We’re talking haunted house dark. A little creepy? Yup. Also, the bartender had some serious butterfingers, we personally counted over 6 glasses dropped and broken over half an hour. Maybe he was new. Whatever. I was also here on a Sunday night so it wasn’t very crowded at all… but I think if it was, it would be an absolute nightmare to get around. On the other hand, the music was very cool… Jurassic Five? Sweeeeeet! But I digress… Sister Sorel is essentially a gay bar. Now I don’t have a problem with this being originally from NYC but I definitely know some people would be surprised to hear this reading the other reviews. So there you go. Being someone who is not gay, did I feel out of place? You betcha. Did that ruin my time there? Nope, but it was definitely because I was with friends… so you should know this going in. All in all, I do plan on checking this place out on another night to see if the crowd can be as good as other reviews have noted.

Super friendly barstaff in a cute bijou setting. Only had drinks, so can’t comment on the food, but well made cocktails, cold beer, warm welcome. It’s a small place, with maybe 10 seats at the bar and a cool little patio. Oh, and good background music too.

Goal — drink at a patio in South End. Accomplished! My friend said this place is hopping at night so we decided to hop in here to check out the scene. It’s pretty narrow inside so you better love the group you hang with in here cuz you will pretty much be rubbing butts. It’s also rather stuffy. Maybe they don’t turn on the AC when they have the patio windows open. The patio is self service so we ordered our drinks at the bar and squeezed our way through to the patio. For $ 9, they use a traditional sized rock glass for my Greygoose. I was somewhat bummed. It annoys me when places don’t use a double old fashioned glass for straight pours. The petite patio id furnished with 4 metal tables(2’s and 4’s) with matching chairs. On a nice summer evening, it’s mellow and placid to have a drink and catch up.

stopped by to check out Sister Sorel(Tremont647 twin), venue of our Tacos UYE. very cozy space w/a private dining room(there was a merry party) that opens to the bar, where we had a super-tasty meal of duck quesadillas, roast chicken, long island duck pincho(skewer) and all time fave, banana cream pie. T647-SS were already packed coming in. so we hustled out after dinner to give way to hungry, waiting diners and go to a friend’s to catch the pacman vs cotto triple-header on ppv. good night for eats, drinks and boxing.

Yumyumyumyumyumyumyum. That was the sound of me 2 nights ago at Sister Sorel, where I wrapped up my brief sojourn to Boston. Sister Sorel isn’t really a separate restaurant; it’s attached to Tremont 647, and it shares a kitchen and staff. That is a good thing, since Tremont 647 has a pitch-perfect kitchen and staff. Sorel’s décor is a little darker and warmer. Think of Sorel as a slightly more mischievous Mr. Hyde to 647’s Jekyll. Ok, no more stupid metaphors… I was here for Taco Tuesday and it was scrumptious. After 3 tacos(1 beef, 1 fish, 1 veggie) and a pile of tasty guacamole, my stomach was in a happy place. I wasn’t in the traditional margarita mood, so I washed them down with 3 gin+tonics(1 for each taco, obviously). I was so buzzed that I was chatting all over the place and I barely remember how I got home. But does it matter? Sorel’s outstanding food, service, and atmosphere make it the perfect complement to its neighbor.
