I will never order take out from them again. I ordered from them on two separate occasions, through GrubHub, and both times my food never came AND they charged my card, all together my orders came to almost $ 100. When I called and asked to talk to a manager both times was told«a manager isn’t here right now», how coincidental. My friends and I were going to go there after work, and now we will never step foot inside the restaurant.

Finally stopped into Sol Azteca after walking passed it many times. Had brunch on a Sunday afternoon with my family. Had the burrito vegetariano, husband had a three choice entrée dish, kids had quesadilla americana, chicken rice and beans and a taco. They served fresh salsa and chips, which were great! Everything was delicious, and it was a big hit with my kids. Service was friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back!

Seriously– this is some of the only traditional/authentic mexican food i’ve had in boston. the staff is insanely nice and attentive– they often have mariachi bands walk around and play for you. It is a lot bigger than you think from the outside… definitely looking forward to eating outside on the patio once the weather warms up again. great chips and guac and awesome margs. me gusta a lot

Wow! when I walked in I thought I was going to be wowed I looked at the menu saw the higher prices didnt mind I thought the food must be good I ordered the Beef Fajitas to go it was served in a very large Styrofoam container when I got it home and opened it up I was very disappointed there was a table spoon of black beans a ½ cup of rice and about a quarter pound of the worst beef that money can buy, when you bend a piece of meat and it breaks you know its not a very good piece of meat, the meat in a frjitias should be skirt flank and maybe even sirloin flap meat this was the worst meet I have had in a long time, but my golden lab didnt think so! Stay away!

You will not a find a more authentic fine dining Mexican cuisine in the Boston area. This place has been around since 72′ and it has the loyal customers to prove it. Service is always good, the margaritas, even better. Anything with the CILANTROSAUCE it delicious! Their Mole Negro is also good; both my favorite sauces. The manager of the restaurant RIMA is the cutest and really goes above and beyond to make your experience a pleasurable one. Their outdoor patio is perfect this time of year to indulge in their red sangria(best in the city). Highly recommended! Also their desserts are so good too! Fried icecream, bananas with goal milk caramel, and their coconut cheesecake is the best.

Great food and nice people. The owner was very involved in making sure everyone was happy. The food was fresh and the drinks cold. Nice place to sit outside and enjoy a summer night. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The guacamole here is absolutely AMAZING! I just get the Chips and salsa here with a side of guac sometimes because its that good. There’s a really nice large server too . It’s a great place to go in the afternoons and evenings because it’s never crowded and the interiors are so well done. I would even suggest it for a date night. I love the place. Oh and did I mention the guacamole?: D

THE Mexican restaurant in Boston. Seems to be family owned, same people working all the time, they will remember you if you are a repeat customer! Chips, salsa, guac, and queso are spot on. Margaritas are perfect, but you have to get the special ones. No house margarita(lower quality). Order a margarita with the tequila that you want(recommend Chinaco Anejo). They have a list of tequilas for margaritas so it is easy. Really friendly staff, sometimes food takes a while to get out, but it is part of the experience. Mole is some of the best I have had. This place is great!

Love this place! Very few Mexican places around Boston. This place is cutely decorated and affordable. Fun and relaxed atmosphere. Also, they really give you unlimited chips and salsa! The queso comes in a cast iron pan and has browned cheese on top, so definitely order it!

Our order: 3 hours late. Told at 9:45pm just not to expect it oh but here’s maybe a $ 10 coupon, good luck finding food now. Then it magically arrives. Leaking and smashed to one side. Brown avocados. Cold crusty beans. A chile relleno hiding in there somewhere. A crispy taco so soft that it jumps to the side with a flick of the finger and crumples. The starving boyfriend tries microwaving his enchiladas. The coleslaw(?) included now seeps icky hot into everything. The mole tastes like BBQ. I basically just spent sixty dollars and three hours waiting for Sol Azteca to give me 3lbs of trash to throw away for them. What did I ever do to you, Sol Azteca? One star for reminding me that life is absurd and the check is never in the mail.

There aren’t a lot of traditional /legit Mexican restaurants in boston overall, so it’s nice to have this place nearby the Brookline area. To start with, I really love their complimentary salsa and chips. I usually ask for another thing of salsa before the entrée comes out! Carne asada steak platter is a solid dish there and it is a sizable portion. There’s a mango chicken dish that’s super tasty too. The ambiance is something to note as well. Lots of traditional Mexican clay tiles on the floors, and ornate painted tiles embedded in the tables. There are two sections of the restaurant and a small outdoor area when it’s warm enough to sit outside.

You think you’ve seen all quesadillas until you try one from Sol Azteca. The blue margaritas are a must! Not a place to go for a quick bite, but overall good experience.

Had an early dinner at Sol Azteca, it was quite lovely! The free chips and salsa were delicious. The chips seem quite fresh and crisp, the three of us when through three baskets! The guac was also very fresh, would recommend. Chips & Salsa — 5⁄5 I ordered the Enchiladas with mole poblano. It was delicious! The waitress recommended it to me because it’s one of their more popular dishes. Definitely worth a try, the mole sauce is interesting. Enchilades 4⁄5 The service was really great, the waitress was attentive and very sweet. Nice authentic atmosphere… not that I really know much about the authenticity… but it was quite cozy! Would recommend.

This place is terrible. Not because the food was bad, but because the drink and food portions were pathetic. Our margaritas($ 8 each) were served in an 8 oz glass. We got the combination platter for $ 16, which had a single quesadilla smaller than my hand(which was actually more like an empanada with low quality chicken), and a single chimichanga about 4 inches long, while ¾ of the plate was covered in rice, beans and cole slaw. The food tasted okay at best, but was nothing to rave about. There were free chips and salsa, but I do not go out for those. Go somewhere where you can actually get a decent-sized meal for your money and don’t have to get full on chips and salsa.

I went here last night for restaurant week, and I can honestly say that this place is amazing. If you’re feeling for some authentic Mexican food and you need a place to go, this place will definitely hit the spot for you. The restaurant’s atmosphere was great– the décor was on point. The food was amazing, and we had such a friendly waiter. The only downside that night was waiting for our appetizers to come. It took a while for the waiter to give us our food, but other than that, I have zero complaints. The first thing that we had was complimentary salsa and chips. The salsa was AMAZING. It was fresh, and it went so well with the crispy tortilla chips. For appetizers, I ordered the Ceviche, my friends ordered the Nacho-style cheese dip with Spinach and Jalapeño, and the Ensalada Azteca with Guacamole. The Ceviche I had was DELICIOUS. I’ve had Ceviche before, but the Ceviche here though… it was so good. The only downside was the avocados that were included with my Ceviche. The avocados weren’t ripe enough, so they didn’t taste good. But because my Ceviche was so delicious, I didn’t really care so much about the avocados. The dip my friend ordered was also amazing! It was just like Nacho-cheese with a little kick to it because of the jalapeños. I loved it a lot because I really love cheese in general… and nachos. Haha. Next was our entrees. I got the Fajitas Texana, and my friends got the Combo Especial. The entrees were spot on. It was absolutely DELICIOUS. I have never been so happy about eating Mexican food. The protein was cooked right, the beans and rice were cooked right– everything was perfect. The only downside to my dish was the guacamole. I love my guacamole more on the sour side, with lots and lots of lime. The guacamole was pretty bland. On top of that, the avocados they used weren’t ripe, so it didn’t taste good. But despite this, my dish was still amazing. I also tried some of the Combo Especial, and it was equally as good. Lastly, we got dessert. I ordered the Pastel Azteca, and it tasted like exactly what the description says: a light coconut cheesecake. I’m not a big fan of cheesecake, but I had to order this because there’s coconut in it! For someone who isn’t a big fan of cheesecake, the Pastel Azteca was so good. It wasn’t super rich like a cheesecake, it was really light, which I liked a lot. It kind of tasted like flan, but in a cheesecake form. Overall, I had a great experience. I would definitely come here again. OH, and their lemonade was bommmmbbbbbb. I’ve never enjoyed my lemonade so much before. The waiter was nice enough to give me a second one for free. :)

Good food marred by TERRIBLE service Sol Azteca is located on Beacon St. close to the Fenway T stop and with plenty of on street parking. The ambiance fits with the Mexican cuisine but is neither particularly exciting nor noteworthy. Sol Azteca offers a number of standard options for Mexican cuisine. I have eaten there a couple of times but stopped going because the food has not been the same. This plus the fact that the service has always been poor(more on that in a minute) makes it a no brainer. I usually start with the guacamole which has been marked by a shrinking portion size. It is pretty good though. The chilaquiles for a meal is excellent. Delicious tortilla layers with tender chicken and cheese. The enchiladas verdes are just ok. The service at Sol Azteca is terrible. We have had the same male server almost every time and he is exceptionally rude. Never cracking a smile and poorly attentive. Forget about drink and water refills. You ought to bring bottled water just in case so you don’t get dehydrated! We had to send a dish back to the kitchen because it was not what we ordered. He huffed and puffed and just dropped the correct dish on our table. This attitude pervades the restaurant too because you can expect to wait quite a while to catch the attention of the host so you can be seated(even when the restaurant is not that busy). I haven’t been back in months and don’t plan to. I doubt they would every try to improve the situtation. They just don’t seem to care! Too bad, because the food is actually decent.

Worst service I have experienced in a very very long time… Speaking of long, it took forever for the waiter to take our orders and bring us our food. He messed up on one order, and I don’t know why it took so long for him/the chefs to fix it. The restaurant was not very crowded and all my friend ordered were two tacos. We were with a big group, but that doesn’t mean that they take 30 minute intervals between bringing each person’s food out. There were 11 people in our group. Eight people received their entrees, and then another 30 – 40 minutes later the rest finally received theirs. The waiter apologized a few times, but I still think it was ridiculous. Half of the people in our group were done with their dinner before the rest of us even received our food. The food is just mediocre too. I will never come back because of the poor service.

We originally wanted to get gy-kaku but the wait was way too long so we came here. We were promptly seated and the service was pretty on point throughout the night. I had a pitcher of the red sangria and it was really delicious. I really liked their chips and salsa too. Since I wasn’t too hungry I opted to order two al pastor tacos a la carte. The tacos were decent, but the meat was a little dry. I know the other people in my group liked the dishes they ordered. Their portions are pretty big also. However, I think I’m just not a fan of traditional Mexican dishes and prefer tacos. Overall the price is a little high compared with Mexican food in LA, but I guess it’s pretty regular for Boston. I still haven’t found a place that is on par to places in LA…

This is some of the best sit-down Mexican food on this side of the harbor. The girlfriend had a groupon that hooked us up with an absurd feast for a steal, considering it’s such a reasonably-priced place to begin with. The usual Mexican-restauraunt décor of bright colors and pastels works so well here that you forget it’s a cliché and just appreciate how much it makes a basement space not feel like one. There are a lot of nice nooks and crannies to have a quiet dinner, too. i judge any Mexican place by the quality of their chips and the alacrity with which they are replenished(yummy, and with all due speed). We also had some quesadillitas for appetizers, which were also delicious. I had chilaquiles for dinner, and they did not let me down either; a huge pile of tasty goodness, but still staying crispy and flavorful down to the last bite. And even with the confusion that inevitably follows using any sort of coupon deal, the waiter was friendly and cheerful. And patient. We should have gone here much more often, but now we know.
