My wife had gotten a lovely pair of glasses from Spectacle last year, so when it was time for me to replace my frames she brought me in to meet Paul. The selection was amazing, and as he points out, there is nothing with logos or prominent name brands plastered all over the frame.
Paul was very helpful; he listened carefully to what I was looking for and made some great suggestions. My last frames never felt quite right, and I always thought the optician who helped me choose them didn’t really care how I looked or felt once the bill was paid and I was out the door. Paul’s emphasis is on building a relationship, and I don’t think I’ll ever go to another optician. He gave me straightforward advice about what looked good and what would work for me, and I ended up with a pair of glasses that I have gotten many compliments on, and which I am more comfortable wearing every day.

Paul is the best.
After years of not having a pair of up-​to-​date specs due to lack of inspiration and option overload, I am happy to say I can finally see.
When I would complain about not having a new pair of glasses, all of my friends would encourage me to visit trendy chains they all loved (SEE, Warby Parker…), and after a few unsuccessful trips, I gave up. I’m just not that target audience member. Because when it comes to glasses, I want 3 things: 1) They must be affordable (I’m as blind as a bat and these shops overcharge you to death on thinning the lenses) 2) I want a pair no one else has. 3) I need to support a local business (no name brands, nothing made in China on the web, nothing that’s a chain). Spectacle fulfills all of those needs and then some.
Not only is Paul the nicest shop owner in the South End, but he is like having a personal glasses shopper. His mission is to find a pair of glasses that looks good on your face. Period. He guides you through the entire process, and provides endless pairs to try on for your new purchase. After 2 visits (I’m picky, I swear) I finally found a pair that I simply adore. They were SO affordable compared to every other store I visited and he even goes as far as to tell you to keep them for a month and if you don’t like them bring them back! He knows what he’s doing.
If you’re searching for a beautiful pair of glasses and you want to support a small business owner, look no further. But I must warn you, you’ll want a second (or third) pair.

Paul is THE BEST. It can be so intimidating to pick out eyewear (at least for me!) Paul makes it a breeze. holding your hand and guiding you with options. Not to mention he rocks. literally. Don’t be surprised to see a pop up band from time to time. Truly customer service at another level. with the most stylish glasses around. Thanks Spectacle!

At first, my son wasn’t very happy with his new glasses, but Paul tried other options, and replaced them until my son was very pleased. He really went out of his way to make my son happy!
He has a huge selection of frames, great prices, and knows what he is doing, but the best part of all is how he treats his customers.

After reading all of the amazing reviews, I gave Spectacle a try and was BEYOND impressed! A 5 star rating is an understatement. Paul went way out of his way to help me repair my sunglasses, after every other place said were unrepairable. He treats each customer with such personalization, he is the best! If all of that weren’t enough, the price he charged me was so reasonable!

If you want to find the perfect pair of glasses at the best price, Spectacle is the place to go.
I have been shopping around for a new pair of glasses and many places, including my own eye doctor’s store were so expensive, quoting me prices upwards of $ 350 for lens and glasses. And that’s including my insurance discount! I looked on Unilocal and saw Paul’s awesome reviews and I thought, well it can’t hurt to check it out, especially if he’s as good as advertised. I was not disappointed! Paul has this amazing shop in the South End and his first words to me were «We look expensive, but our prices are not.» Paul handed me what must have been 20 different frames seeking to find that elusive «perfect» pair. He took my pictures with his awesome electric guitar of each one of my «yes» frames and waited patiently as I texted them to friends and family to help me make this tough decision. Not only did Paul give me an excellent price, but he also gave me a fun experience and helped me feel absolutely confident in my choice. I’m so glad I gave Spectacle a shot. Definitely recommending to all my friends!

I’ve been telling everyone I know how great this place is! It literally took me 3 years to find glasses I liked the last time I went looking, but when I needed new ones again I came here, and Paul was handing me frame after frame that I loved. He has also been incredibly nice about my coming back twice for adjustment/​a loose piece on my glasses, which he fixed. Everybody should do their glasses shopping here!!! Thank you, Paul!

His selection of glasses are of the highest quality, at a great price, and incredibly stylish. I am so happy with my new glasses and sunglasses… and look forward to future shopping. Wish i could give Spectacle more stars. The frames are stylish and unique, as is the owner Paul. Extremely knowledgable with helpful tips on the care of your glasses, he turned a dreaded chore of trying to find the perfect frames into a fun visit. He knows what looks good and is generous with his time in helping you try on different looks. He really does make you feel like a rock star and reminds you that glasses should be fun and sexy.
Cant wait for my new frames and sunglasses. How often can you say that?

I know what you are thinking, no business can have a five star rating on Unilocal,ever! There has to have been one dissatisfied customer or some internet troll who just wanted to stick it to the Man. Well here is a shop and an owner who takes care of business by taking care of his customers. Paul Fox is a rock star in more ways than one. I have been his customer for over 12 years getting my frames and lenses from him with never a complaint, actually one time I didn’t like the why the vision was in a pair and Paul just refit me and replaced the lenses, no questions. Is the guy good, I send all my friends there he’s that good.

Paul is always so helpful and I find glasses here that other stores don’t seem to carry. Best of luck in the new location across the street from the old one!

I loved this place! Paul is so heblpful and friendly. I have never wore glasses before so I had no idea which frames would fit my face. Paul is an amazing optician! After having a lot of trouble trying to get glasses elsewhere, he was like my night in shining armor. He helped me pick out frames that suited my face and had everything ready in just a few days. Plus the glasses themselves are amazing. Putting them on felt like magic! He is very talented.
