Poor service, long lines, very few staff, and no seating. It could be a great place if it was staffed correctly. Lots of people seem to walk out upset. The music is so loud you can’t read or think. I think the staff think it’s a nightclub.

I live in the area, and would love to frequent this Starbucks location. However, the service is slow, and the drinks are mediocre at best. I just left there, and nearly every customer was disappointed and/or annoyed– myself included.

Upon concluding my month-long visit in Boston, I’d have to say that this Starbucks is a pretty dang good one. As I’ve mentioned in my previous review, the lobby space is very well maintained and the furniture is very comfortable(what with actual couches and spacious tables). The manager Brian is very kind and welcoming. He does not hesitate to connect with his customers. Some of the partners here could take notes from this guy. While I always receive consistently good quality drinks and food here, a handful of partners here definitely need guidance when it comes to customer service. One partner almost seems to go out of his way to be a grumps, while it took others to find out that I have a connection to one of their supervisors to finally make eye contact with me. I understand partners have off days, as do I, but the consistency of poor customer connection needs to be coached. This location also has many opportunities regarding their condiment bar. No matter when I’m in store, the condiment bar is a mess. I also understand that this bar is around the corner and thus unseen from the back area of the counters, but it still requires attention. I often have to remind them about it. While this store can be a little apprehensive and messy at times, I still appreciate the consistent deliciousness of beverages here. I would come back the next time I’m in town.

I think it’s a high turnover store, I’ve lived here since before it existed, formally Nicoles pizza. It’s always been too busy. I laugh every time they run out of coffee. Sometimes I wait, sometimes I prey for Peets Coffee to rescue me from coffee purgatory.

I am a Starbucks snob. This just doesn’t cut it for me. The drinks don’t taste anything like the drinks I have at other Starbucks, both locally and just within the greater world. It’s an excellent location, but it would be much more convenient to me if I lived in the area. Unfortunately, it’s nearly impossible to find a seat at this narrow, awkwardly shaped Starbucks. Also, outlets are randomly spread out through the café(and face it, if I’m stopping it’s because I want to charge my phone). There are tons of seats, but they are usually all taken. I find this weird, given how far away this Starbucks is from civilization. I could read Durkheim’s The Division of Labor in Society in the time it takes these baristas to make my drink. I could probably write a doctoral dissertation on it too. If you want Starbucks and are in the South End, go here, but be forewarned: it will always taste a little bit different than what you’re used to having anything else.

Don’t plan to sit down to enjoy your cup of coffee at this location. There is actually a lot of seats. But they are all taken. Not by people drinking their coffee though. Unless you consider having a small cup that was filled with coffee about 3 hours ago drinking coffee. No, this is basically an office for most everyone in there, and they have no problem spreading out their computer and paperwork to take up essentially 3 seats. I get it, Starbucks makes a comfortable ambience for people to linger. But since there is no other Starbucks in spitting distance, there is no other ‘office space’ for any of their«customers». No such thing as enjoying a cup of coffee with your friends here. It kind of defeats the purpose.

The lines are ridiculously long in the morning and in the afternoon. Even though the line moves pretty fast, I often see people leave(I’m one of those impatient ones). I guess this is due to the fact this is the only Starbucks in the South End. The staff is very nice but sometimes it seems like they are overwhelmed by the amount of customers since they usually have 2 – 3 employees working. Once they ran out of gingerbread syrup for the Gingerbread Latte during the winter season and gosh, that was the worst cup I have ever drank(it was like drinking normal coffee without milk/cream). Otherwise, they are pretty good for fulfilling orders to your liking.

Easily the best Starbucks in Boston. The staff is excellent, fast. They know what they’re doing. I’ve never had a bad coffee there. The store manager has a really good operation there.

First off: The good: The staff are efficient and nice. Not overly talkative which I like. There is enough space and enough plugs. I like the music they play. However, I come here, like most people, to do work on my laptop. The wireless would not stop dying and I could get no work done. This is the only starbucks where I have experienced this problem. If you are going there with a group be warned: there are few chairs there. If you aren’t going to use the internet, then this place is great. Otherwise, stay away.

One of the few branches in Boston with Clover brews, but not one of the better ones in general. The space is a bit cramped and often very busy, so don’t expect to find a spot to read/study unless you come particularly early. The staff are, in a word, efficient. Not very friendly, but they’ll get the job done.

Very narrow and large yet always feels cramped to me. It’s not a very conducive place to do any work but you better believe that all those writers and students still come in droves. I usually stop in about once a week to get some tea. There is always a long line but I have to give the servers props because it goes by quickly. Just so long as you don’t get some jerk(me) that orders a smoothie or some fancy drink. But they are good about doing the simple drinks first and someone else making mine. I’m sure this is how it’s done in most starbucks. I’m just not a coffee drinker so until I moved in the area and started walking to work I had no need to get something hot on the way to work. Boston winters are brutal. Don’t expect to get a table to yourself. You will be sitting snuggly with the person next to you.

It’s just a Starbucks so that is why I’m giving it 3 stars(although if I could it would be 3.5 or slightly higher). However, it is definitely one of the better Starbucks to which I’ve been. It’s big, warm, and cozy. The staff is very friendly and keep things moving. If you are looking for a nice place to study or meet up with friends for coffee this is a nice coffee shop in the South End to do it.

I love Starbucks. Hate Dunkin’ Donuts… And why??? Because of the experience. I enjoy the whole atmosphere… the smell, the friendly people who seem to love their jobs and like talking to people… of course, there are exceptions: However, this one has taken a turn for the worse with regards to the staff… Customer: «can I have a cinnamon chip scone?»(**After seeing the sign for cinnamon chip scone in the case) Employee:(looks in the case, where there are blueberry and raspberry scones) «Exactly where do you see cinnamon chip scones?» ****** Me standing in line… Employee: «what are you having?»(no smile, barely any eye contact) Me: «can I have a Venti Verona with a little extra room?» Employee:(punches into register — this time NO eye contact) «what else?» Starbucks is a HAPPY place… these 2 employees should go work at Dunkin Donuts where their… um … skills(?) can be put to use. I’m like totes a dunkin’ donuts kid. The only reason I came here is because our marketing department decided to thank me for weeks of work with a $ 10 gift card — NOPROBGAIZ! The employees are oddly nice… creeps me out. Overpriced good$ and yuppie lingo like venti… creeps me out. Countless Craigslist M4M missed connections… creeps me out.
