Best Mexican had in Boston so far. Had their killer pazole, lengua tacos(get their spicy salsa!), and a pork tamale.

Went here for lunch with my parents. My dad got a taco combo(2 chicken, 1 steak) and my stepmom got a chicken tostada. Both of them finished their plates. I got the taco combo(1 tongue, 1 cheek, 1 carnitas). The tacos were good but a little dry. They have 3 homemade salsas that really livened them up. I can’t handle spicy so I didn’t try the spiciest, but the other two are delicious! Guacamole and Salsa with chips to start. Very good! Highly recommend this place to people wanting tacos in Eastie.

Oh my goodness. This place is AMAZING! The staff is so nice and the food is authentic Mexican. My favorite is the Chimichanga and they will make it vegetarian with rice, cheese, and fajita vegetables. Also great are the enchiladas(with both the rojas and verde sauces, they are excellent). Their red sauce is so tasty and their guacamole is very fresh. I’ll come by this restaurant in East Boston to pick up some food if I’m in town during rush hour traffic and take some back roads on Route 1A home to Newburyport afterwards to avoid traffic on Route 1. Free two hour parking is available near the restaurant. PLEASE visit this place if you love Mexican food.

If you want to have really good Mexican food and not pay an arm and a leg. This is the place. Best food for the right price. Service is very good. The tacos, fluatas and grilled jalapeños are awesome

Birria(a stew, made with steak here) made into tacos, a pork torta, and and half an avocado would be a banquet for two, or would feed three with a lighter desire for $ 14. Great variety of salsas. Like lots of places, not everything on the menu is a success, so you might need to investigate.

Skip Angela’s and make your way to Taqueria Jalisco! Nothing can beat excellent customer service and great food! I’ve only been here for pick up, but every time, I’ve been nicely greeted and taken care of expeditiously. The food is awesome! The Carne Asada is unforgettable and my daughter loves their cheese quesadilla. With all the hype of Mexican places in Boston, Jalisco is a place worth trying!

Authentic and great food. Love their torta! Must say they really need to work on their service, especially their speed.

I tried the Cabeza and Lengua tacos. Both meats were tender and well cooked. They also had very good homemade tortilla chips(flour instead of corn tortillas). What I thought was best was their salsa and sauces. All were incredibly flavorful and had a good amount of spice. Would definitely go back(especially for the price!) for those.

I returned to this place after a couple of years. The food is still tasty, they still serve the three sauces on the side, and they still provide an additional set of tortillas. In all the places I’ve been to in Boston for Mexican food, this one is authentic. None of that Anna’s Taqueria or Boca Negra nonsense they call authentic. The prices have increased a bit, but they are still reasonable. On a side note, I was not too happy about our waitress, but once a familiar face stepped into the restaurant our experience was so much better. She’s a smaller older woman that I’ve seen on previous occasions who makes sure you’re taken care of. I love her. Definitely coming again when I’m caving some sopes, quesadillas or burritos mojados.

Great place, great service, excellent homemade salsa and aguas frescas(try the melon). Everything was mostly terrific BUT not quite 5 stars because the tacos were actually slightly bland. The tortillas were good, the salsas were good, they came with plenty of cilantro, but the chicken itself was not really well cooked and flavorful. Still, a great place and fantastic for the price.

Vibrant and homey. East Boston’s Taqueria Jalisco, while a short T ride(Blue line — Wood Island) or car ride from the heart of Boston, is certainly worth the trek for fresh Mexican fare. The sauces and salsas are top-notch and the food is prepared the old-fashioned way, from the soul. There are a few tables and counter seats so come early. Taqueria Jalisco adds a personal touch to each bite, whether it is the warm chips to dip into chunky salsa, piping hot homemade corn tortillas, or the three sauces/salsas(spicy red chili pepper, avocado-based, and sweet) that are served with the meal. Start off with a chicken tamal served inside a steaming corn husk. The hearty masa(corn dough) of the tamal pairs nicely with the shredded chicken dipped in slightly spicy green chili pepper sauce. While it is of course recommended to get tacos, don’t forget about the plates. Carne con chile roja(also available in verde — green) is spicy and meaty. The red sauce is the perfect amount of heat with a generous portion of cubed tender pork. The taco combination plate is a great way to sample three different tacos(chicken, beef, pork, carnitas) served with the fresh soft corn tortilla and plenty of cilantro and onion. The tacos are even better with a squirt of lime and one of the delicious sauces. The plates also come with creamy refried pinto beans and yellow rice.

They messed up the chicken enchiladas after confirming three times, they came with no sauce, covered in cheese and dark meat chicken. I wouldn’t order from here again. At 3am, I got really sick and so did my fiancé– we both got the chicken here… :.(was really looking forward to this place!

Fantastic food. I can’t believe I’ve been living so close to a Mexican restaurant that I didn’t even know of, despite having walked by it so many times! For a drink I had the agua fresca de melon, and my mother had a mango smoothie. For appetizers we both had pork tamales. For entrees I had a chimichanga(my first one ever) and she had a steak fajita plate. I was so impressed with how high quality the food was despite the low prices. Something nice they do is that they bring over a metal cup holder with three cups of different salsa. One avocado, one mildly spicy, the other very spicy. All were so mouthwatering. The only food I say I was disappointed in was the complimentary nachos which were kind of stale and bland. The service was friendly, but very slow to the point where it took nearly 15 minutes just to get the bill, so I had to take a star off for that. There’s not a lot of seating, so I’d recommend going in earlier. I need to come back here just because there were so many things on the menu I felt like I had to try.

On our last day in Boston, my boyfriend and I explored East Boston, or Eastie. We had our farewell dinner at Taqueria Jalisco. We found parking a few blocks away and walked over to this little eatery off Bennington street. We were lucky to get a two seat table, which was the very last one available at the time(even the counter seats were taken). Our waitress asked us what we wanted to drink. I got one of the fresh juices. It was very refreshing with lots of ice(great on a hot summer day). For our meals, my boyfriend got a vegetarian dish, the fajita. I went with fried tilapia on rice that came with pico de gallo and salad. Honestly, we had our best meal here during our trip to Boston. Great, authentic, Mexican flavors. Very good! Everyone there was friendly and very attentive. They were genuinely happy when we said we enjoyed our meals. This is a great place!

Que freakin’ RICO. If I had known about the food mecca that is East Boston earlier in my life, my high school level Spanish certainly wouldn’t have deteriorated to the point of me having to ask, «Gracias.uhh is it por or para??? la comida? I give up.» Taqueria Jalisco is everything that taco joints in central Boston aren’t: 1) inexpensive, 2) lovely in both portion and quality, 3) actually made by, and consumed by locals who know Mexican food, LEGIT, 4) where your taste buds will die and go to food heaven, and refuse to leave. It is home to real HORCHATA(ugh, YES! I’ve been on my hunt for my local holy grail /kyrptonite Horchata!), pozole(rarely find this on any menus locally, and rarely made with any authenticity to recipes used in Mexico), and some mighty fine tacos. To the local Mexican guys who stared at me in awe and giggled while I took photos of my tacos(oh, you sly fox, get your mind out of the gutter) from 100 angles for that perfect Instagram-able quality, I’m sorry, I couldn’t help it. Asian genes, you know. Major predisposition here. And thanks for complimenting me on my hippie headband, or as you called it, «that thing on your head that looks nice.» You’ll find your typical taco fare here, alongside a full menu of other great menu options, including a cabeza taco(yes, it’s from the head of a cow, but utterly tender and tasty). So bring your abuela, your niños, your amigos, or whoever, but most importantly, bring a bib and an appetite, you’re in for a delicious ride.

This is the BEST Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. The service was phenomenal; the restaurant was clean and inviting; the prices were very cheap; and the food was delicious and authentic. My boyfriend and I biked out to East Boston for the day, so by the time we arrived at Taqueria Jalisco, we had worked up an appetite. We each ordered a meat tamale, a plate of the Nachos Carne to share, and the Tacos Combinacion platter, which came with 3 tacos(we ordered the carnitas, beef tongue and beef), rice and beans. In addition to this, we were given a basket of chips and salsa while we waited for our food. The meat tamales arrived first, and were simple and tasty — a great way to begin the meal. This was the first time I’ve ever had tamales, so I had no idea what to expect. For everyone who’s never had a tamale before(like me), it’s basically a starchy dough that’s wrapped in a corn husk(which you peel off before eating). Ours were also stuffed with meat, which added great flavour. Right after we finished the tamales, our waitress brought the Nachos con Carne(impeccable timing). What stood out most about these nachos was the absolute precision with which they were made — each chip was dressed with the perfect ratio of cheese, meat, tomato, onion, jalapeño, avocado and lettuce. Although this sounds like a fairly ridiculous and unimportant observation, it added a uniformity to the dish, which guaranteed each bite to be equally as delicious as the last. Unlike all the nacho plates that i’ve ordered at other Mexican restaurants, I did not find myself scrounging around for toppings to put on the last couple of naked chips at the bottom of the plate. After our 3-course appetizer, we dug into the Tacos Combinacion platter, which featured carnitas, beef tongue and beef tacos, along with rice and refried beans. Again, I have absolutely no complaints about this dish, especially given how tender the meat was. What I liked most about the dish was that you could add as much or as little rice/beans/lettuce/salsa as you’d like. I liked to dress my tacos with all 3 of the salsa-based sauces that our waitress brought us, because they were all very flavourful and added a spicy zing to the taco. The green sauce(my personal favourite) was avocado-based, and much milder than the other two. Aside from the food, the service was also excellent! Our waitress was attentive and very polite. She answered all of our questions perfectly, and didn’t even bat an eye as a butchered the pronunciation of the menu items. The food arrived very quickly, and the check even quicker. Wouldn’t hesitate to come back!

For me this place always tops my list of good Mexican food in the Boston area. The food is always fantastic, when you wanna get your fill this is the place to do it at. So I have tried so many places to find the best burrito in town and not many came close to what Jalisco has. They are by far the best for any burrito with out a doubt. They are big the tortilla that it comes in never rips it’s super clean, and the portions are amazing. The salsa that they make is just superb, compliments the food really well. The tacos are awesome to have while you are waiting for your food.

I must have ordered badly — I was craving Mexican style fish, but they ended up just giving me a really, really flat, tough piece of chicken, and it was not especially good. Seemed like solid Mexican from what I saw of it other than that, but it didn’t really seem special either. Hopefully I get a chance to come back soon and see what everyone else was raving about!

This is a great place for fresh and savory tamales and soft tacos! For the tamales, there are green chilies and chicken and beef with a red chili sauce. The tamales were larger than I expected and had tender masa. They are definitely more on the drier side than some of the other tamales that I’ve had which is probably attributable to the use of less fat drippings in the meat stuffing. That’s A-OK with me because that means these tamales are probably a little healthier. For the tacos, choose from pork, chicken, beef, beef tongue, and beef head + white onions & cilantro. The grilled shrimp & cilantro dish came with succulent shrimp in a creamy sauce with fresh avocado and rice/salad. Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed their dishes. I especially liked the free salsa(tangy and spicy) along with the side hot sauces which are conveniently stored in a mobile carrier!
