Great little dive bar. Kim from Ireland was our bartender. Nice and quiet on a Wednesday afternoon. The only drawback is NO mixed drink in a beer pint glass. Other than that, Kim is on her way to becoming a great transplanted Irish American. Highly recommended visit.

Great local dive! Love the Shannon family and environment. Also, great place to stop before and/or after your flight… close to the airport;) I would like to respond to a previous negative review. I was there that St. Paddy’s Day and someone did steal a bottle of alcohol. I was the one who caught the woman that stole it. Once the owner resolved the situation, everybody was allowed back in.

Shannon is the best place to get a drink on a dime in Southie: great place for yuppies and locals to really get to know each other and feel at home. Lotsa great bartenders especially Bobby and Jerry. Always know how to make you feel like you’re at home. Family owned placed with a lot of love to go around

This is the best little bar in Boston, with cheap drinks and good bar food. Awesome.

Shannon’s is by far my favorite bar to game at. The boxing game, pacman, pool AND the jukebox have me sold. My friends and I go during the day to chug some beers and game. It’s fun to hang out with the locals and really soak up the southie lifestyle. The bartenders are chill and accommodating. Fun place!

Let me just preface this review by saying that I have never been to this place. The reason I am writing this review is to counter balance a bad review by another user. To the people who wrote a review of St. Patricks Day at this place: Your haunting 1-star experience is your own fault. Everything said in your review could have been avoided if you had made better decisions. But your scathing review will be here forever, dragging down the aggregate rating of this place and possibly driving away some people who might have actually gone here. So, I’m sure this place is alright, but the real conclusion is to think about the effect of your actions on others, people. Ok thanks.

Went here on the day of the St. Patrick’s Day parade. Paid a cover to get in and could barely move, since they were so over the legal limit of people. After 20 minutes there the owner was going wild on everyone since he suspected that someone stole a bottle of booze. He kicked everyone out whether they had just bought a drink or not and would not let people take their drink with them. It’s his own fault for being way under staffed for the amount of people he let into his bar. I will never go back here, because of this situation and because it’s a crappy little outdated bar that should be closed.

We met the owner at Playwright on our Unilocal Red Scare Southie Crawl and he personally walked us over to Shannon’s. I’ve lived in Southie for years but when I moved to the Fort Point side I started driving by this place every day. I really wanted to head in and try it out as I was auditioning for a new«local» since moving too far to stumble home from Whitey’s. Somehow, I just never got around to checking it out. When I met the owner and he offered to show us over, I was psyched to follow him there. Sure the place is little and the bathroom curtain acting as door is a bit questionable… but this place is great. It’s everything I am looking for in a local. Friendly people, a great jukebox, bar games and cheap drinks. Apparently they have food, though we didnt try it out. I havent been back since the crawl but it is on July’s Bucket List. If my next experience is anything like my last… this place will be bumped to the top of the local list. Thanks Shannons! Next year you are a definite stop on our Red Scare 2011 Crawl!

I’d violate TOS if I posted the pictures I took here. This is as much a tesiment to my group as it is to The Shannon. LOVE the bathoom«stall» that is just a curtain. This place is not trying to be a dive, but it succeeds. That’s how the best dives roll.

A true Southie neighborhood BAH. My freind lives a stones throw away. Since she/we were new to the area, we strolled in one friday night around midnite… felt comfortable, welcomed and met EVERYONE left at the bar. Jerry the bartenda is great.

Solid joint. Nice game room with pool table, darts, a few arcade games and of course bubble hockey. Mostly an older crowd but plenty of late 20somethings hit it up too. Friendly bartenders. Pitchers of Coors light for $ 6 in Boston? Only at The Shannon!

Anywhere that I can bring my guitar over, sing with the owner, and drink on the cheap is okay in my book. Strange hours, colorful clientele, friendly bartenders, interesting goings-on, an internet jukebox(sweet!), a pool table, and last, but never least, BUBBLEHOCKEY? You pretty much can’t go wrong here, if you’re a fan of the local bars and hole-in-the-walls.
