Had brunch here on a Sunday. The restaurant itself is very small and was fully packed when I got there. Several groups before me left because of the wait so if you’re in a large group I would recommend showing up early. I ordered the breakfast omelette and a half-order of chocolate french toast with strawberries. The breakfast omelette tasted pretty good but was probably the simplest I’ve ever had at a restaurant; it was just a plain omelette with cheese and two pieces of english muffin, though for $ 6 I guess I shouldn’t have expected much more. The french toast, however, was the complete opposite. There were a lot components from the chocolate-covered french toast to the strawberries to the flour and sprinkles. At first I actually thought there was too much going on, but after a bite I was pleased with how everything came together to make the dish work. Overall I had a solid experience at Theo’s Cozy Corner. The service was fine but the space was extremely cramped with very little space between tables. The atmosphere was very informal and I’d describe it as a place to chat with friends over a filling meal rather than somewhere you’d go to for amazing food.

Their fish stew is to die for. I’ve never gotten anything else and always get take out, but it really hits the spot. It’s super light and reminiscent of a southeast Asian sweet and sour soup(think a Cambodian Salaw Machu or Vietnamese Canh Chua). It’s always a gigantic portion, served with white rice. SOGOOD.

This is a little place but they get people in and outside without feeling like you are being kicked out. The service was outstanding. Java was fresh and tasty. The eggs were amazing. My date purchased over moderate eggs which no one ever gets right but now they were amazing. I ‘d the scrambled eggs and bacon and they were out of this world. The eggs weren’t overly dry not overly soggy. Quite ample proportions, yummy home fries. Great place I ‘d definitely return.

If you’re looking for a great place to brunch in the heart of Boston, this is the place! While the space is small and seating is limited, the food is delicious and you get a lot of it for your money’s worth! The staff is great and if you show up more than three times, they’ll remember you. Some useful tips: this place is cash only but there are a ton of ATMs in the area, it opens early but closes early too(3 pm), go with an empty stomach and ready to eat !

Theo’s! Unilocal’d this place to see what it was all about while visiting Boston. The reviews definitely did that place justice as there was a line out the door to wait for a seat in thy pretty cozy little spot. There we got in at the bar pretty quickly though which I must say I would opt to do again in a heartbeat simply for the fact that you can watch Theo and his amazing staff work their magic right in front of you. My hubby ordered the two eggs special and it was very tasty. The breakfast potatoes were exceptional. I ordered the chocolate French toast which is adorned with strawberries and bananas and sprinkled randomly with actual rainbow sprinkles. I didn’t realize the sprinkles came with the dish and thankfully I love sprinkles. I was surprised with how yummy the toasts were given the addition of the sprinkles. All in all a yummy sunrise and a great experience.

tl;dr: Cute corner café with homey-style breakfasts! The Eggs Benedict was the highlight of my meal! Service was excellent and she was sweet enough to give us a half-order(doesn’t get to ask!) YUM: Eggs Benedict: SOOOGOOD! A massive bowl of hollandaise that soaked the poached eggs, grilled Canadian bacon and English muffin. Eggs were cooked to perfection, runny golden inside and soft to cut through. I love that they grilled the bacon to a slightly crispy texture(it’s not American so doesn’t crispy as well). Finally the muffin soaked up the hollandaise and prevented any dryness. Definitely one of the best I’ve ever had! Special breakfast: Perfect eggs, crispy American bacon and warm toast pre-buttered. It also comes with coffee or a drink substitute for additional cost. FELLFLAT: Chocolate French toast: Sad and disappointing. It has sprinkles? Way too sweet. This the toast was soggy and didn’t have any egg custard taste. They used chocolate sauce to flavor it which made it taste very artificial. The only highlight was the fruit. If you want good chocolate French toast, there’s a place in Chicago to hit up. Pancakes: Tasted very heavy and doughy. Also was flavorless unless you doused it with butter and syrup. They are enormous, the size of your face and comes in a typical 3-stack.

The absolute best Chicken Cacciatore I have ever had! Great service particularly for a small joint! I wish I lived in Boston so I could go back and try more. Yes there will probably be a wait but well well worth it! Yum!

I’ve been coming here frequently for the past few years that I live in this lovely neighborhood. Theo has never disappointed me. Now they also serve dinner and I’ve been amazed by the quality of the food. My husband, who loves chicken parm and has tasted this dish in the majority of the restaurants in the neighborhood, loves having this plate at Theo’s. If you are looking for a laid back place, where food is real and made to order, not feeling like the waiter is pushing you the most expensive plates or out of the door as soon as you finish your food(but not your conversation with whoever you’re eating with), and likes being helped by the owner, this is the place to go. I met a lot of other neighbors here and love coming here to hang out with them while I have a great meal. This is the hidden gem that you’ve been looking for in the«famous north end», that is full of tourist traps.

Cute little place with wonderful breakfast! Spent $ 26 and got a huge omelette, pancakes, bacon, sausage, toast and coffee for two people. The food was delicious and cooked perfectly. Love eating in local spots like this

Excellent and friendly service. Local flavor but good for tourists as well. No frills presentation but very good breakfast food. We came here multiple times and were never disappointed. Came back the second day and they already knew what tea we wanted and how we took it!

Super hole in the wall. My friend and I were planning on heading over to the Northend grille for brunch but when we realized it was closed that day, Theo’s was open! Small, but cozy & definitely packed. It’s your usual american brunch place with the egg benedicts, omelettes, & other goodies. It’s a brunch place and there’s nothing ever wrong with brunch. But, there wasn’t anything particular special/unique I found on the menu that really hit the spot. Will come again. :)

Let me say first off that the service was excellent! The staff was so friendly and welcoming and the location was very small and cute !! my friend loved her meal, she got the super special and said it was amazing and fresh. I ordered eggs florentine and it was not very good; one egg was poached over hard and the other egg was over easy? Which why??? Would that happen? the spinach was disgusting and the tomato tasted absolutely bizarre. The potatoes were delicious though and im under the impression it might have just been a fluke! This place really is a cute, cozy brunch place with pretty fresh ingredients otherwise. Everyone around me seemed extremely satisfied with their meal. Definitely worth checking out but I will not be back.

Amazing breakfast! Started with French Toast… truly was like dessert. Eggs over easy made to perfection and home fries were very crispy. The bacon was also very crispy and a great cut, not fatty at all. My boyfriend had the eggs over BLT sandwich with hash. Let’s just say he is part of the clean plate club! He also finished off the French toast! Excellent friendly service. Very cozy inside. A total breakfast gem in the North End. I can’t wait to try lunch and dinner here!

Came here around 11:30am this past Saturday morning and only had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated as a party of two. We didn’t put our names down but just let the waitress know that we were waiting outside. Close quarters with your fellow diners but that’s what makes it cozy. We were lucky enough to be seated at the counter facing the chef working his magic on the griddle(cooking here for 26 years and counting!). Watching him cook set me back to square one as everything he made became what I then craved. Omelettes, bacon, sausage, eggs scrambled, over easy, … all looked good and fun to watch. From the back(away from view), would emerge everything else: fluffy pancakes, waffles, corned beef hash. I’m not sure what was happening back there but, wow. I love breakfast but I’m always torn when I have to choose between sweet and savory. Recently I’ve gotten into the habit of getting one of each and splitting it with a friend– easily the best of both worlds. We got… Corned beef hash with three eggs(poached), came with home fries and toast. Waffles with chocolate chips and bananas, topped with strawberries and powdered sugar(as per the owner’s recommendation) When our order came out, it didn’t come with hollandaise sauce which left me just a little distraught. Immediately upon seeing this, the owner/cashier/server/person-who-seemingly-does-everything didn’t hesitate and got us a small bowl of hollandaise sauce. All was right with the world. Omg. The corned beef hash together with the perfectly poached egg and the creamy hollandaise sauce was incredible. Not as greasy as I expected and so freakin’ good. When the waffle came out, I don’t think I even noticed it until we were done with the corned beef hash. That good. Waffle, though, was also tasty. Strawberries were fresh, the bananas made the waffles moist and the chocolate chips made it just a tad sweet. The true winner though, is easily the corned beef hash. Left the cozy corner in a food induced stupor, ready to take on Boston. Can’t wait to go back! Cash only.

Breakfast is one of those meals where it’s acceptable to order something you could easily make as well at home. That’s what you’ll get here. Nothing crazy. Nothing terribly memorable, except how small it is and how long you had to wait outside because you didn’t wake up early enough. When you go out for breakfast, you should feel like you can relax with your hands wrapped around a big, thick white porcelain mug of coffee, but the size of this place, coupled with the volume of customers and thus the stress of the staff make it hard to really settle into your toast. It’s cute, cozy and good, and if no other options are available it’ll do.

Excellent hole in the wall café in the North End. It’s very small so be prepared for a wait if you go for brunch. I highly recommend the pancakes, they are huge and delicious :) Be sure to visit the ATM before going since it’s cash only.

21st Birthday Celebration Stop 1 — An excellent choice for a no-frills breakfast in the North End. Small, cozy location on a street corner where the servers, cook, and Theo treat you like family. Ordered the chocolate french toast(came with fruit) and a side of bacon. Bacon was some of the best I’ve had in my life. It was cooked perfectly, crispy but not like a potato chip. However, the slices were a little thin. This is not a bad thing, but three slices costs $ 2.75. A little expensive, but what’s cheap? Chocolate french toast is not for the faint of arteries. It seems to be comprised of four slices of bread which are«marinated» in much more of a chocolaty sauce than a purely eggy one. They were great, soft on the inside, firm-ish on the outside. Portion was massive, and a great value. Believe it or not I wish they would offer a smaller portion of this dish. Service was generally quick, my meal did take a little while to cook, but I rather have my food made fresh from scratch rather than being pre-made, and just reheated. And I know they were as quick as they can be, since Theo is a magician on the grill. Seeing him make an omelette is something you could sell tickets to.

Twas my first time in Boston… and when I pulled up my handy dandy Unilocal app this one jumped off the screen… after spending two years in NE Brazil it is rare to come across authentic Brazilian cuisine that isn’t churrasco(bbq). It’s literally tucked in a cozy corner, and I pray there is seating available when you show up. Once you sit down, just observe how incredible the dynamic is between Theo and the other lovely Brazilian help. Sure I’m biased, I have a deep love for the people of Brazil… then the food came out. They had authentic Guarana Antartica — now this might not mean anything if you’ve never been to Brazil — but it’s like going to an ‘American’ restaurant and getting the best beverage available rather than the less expensive knock off brands. I got the Brazilian plate — which wasn’t easy because the blueberry pancakes were calling my name. I did not have a choice… steak, chicken, rice, beans — real, simple, incredibly tasty and immediately took me back to 1997. Every time I come to Boston, I will stop here and say hi to these beautiful people… sure it’s cash only, and that normally bothers me, but I just didn’t care here. Tao gostoso — demais… nao posso esperar pra voltar!!!

Breakfast fare and brazilian plates! Simple no fuss good food is what you’ll get at this tiny mom & pop. Sit at the counter and listen to the mix of spanish/portuguese. Hopefully Theo will notice you using the hot sauce(frank’s red hot or tabasco) and offer you his homemade hot sauce which is so much tastier and way more spicy! One of these day’s i’ll get back there to try the Muqueca. Of note, I didn’t notice the acai bowls offering on the wall until I was leaving. Next time too!
