Fare thee well, Uncle Pete’s, you are the victim to poor location, poor marketing, and the lowest common denominator of Boston(lack there of) style. A pity. (closed)

Stopped in to investigate rumors of Rogues Gallery stock, and was delighted at the womens selection! Id rank this hidden gem at the top of my list for boutiques downtown(you’ll forget all that stress you put yourself through finding parking on Charles Street = nightmare). The buy is tasteful but still forward, a rare anti-trendy small space, a must-visit!

You cannot fathom the taste that Peter(of Uncle Pete’s) has until you see it and try on the clothes for yourself — he is an excellent buyer with a knack for presentation. He brings quality brands, and looks beyond the«trends». The women’s collections are artfully patterned or architecturally simplistic with attention to silhouettes. I even played around with the men’s line for myself, thinking about grabbing some 90’s nostalgic«Stussy» tees. Ladies– do not miss out on the«Sea» ensembles either: sleek + feminina. On the interior side, Uncle Pete’s mastered the floor’s flow with a cherry –on– top of a dressing room made out of rustic/reclaimed woods. If you’re a gal looking for flairs of revolution in your clothing — come for a visit. If you’re a dude who knows how to dress — come for a visit. do not miss a visit to his website

Boston is not a fashion capitol. With most people’s obsession with North Face it can sometimes feel like this city is one giant ad for practical clothing and wonderbread. Hopefully that can change somewhat with the arrival of Uncle Pete’s. Apparently they opened in last december, but it’s gone under the radar. I walk by here every day and missed it till I read about it in a local rag. Uncle Pete’s is going to be bring something different to the fashion table for Boston. First off, they have men’s stuff, which is awesome. They were awaiting their spring shipment, but had some great sale stuff from YMC, Rag and Bone, Rogues Gallery, KZO. They will be expanding their brands as they moved towards summer and next fall, including Rick Owens and band of outsiders. The women’s side had vena cava, CDG, and some others. So let’s face it, these clothes aren’t cheap. But they’re great if you can afford it, and the labels they carry nicely complement Stel’s on Newbury. It’s great to have another place to shop for higher end stuff other than Barneys and Stels(I have nothing bad to say about either of those places). They also have some accessories — shoots, belts, socks, other things. The space feels pretty cool, more new york than stodgy boston; raw with dark wood, cool dressing rooms that felt like a woodshed(in a good way). Music was cool. The people working there were very friendly and not pushy at all, which is always nice and somewhat unexpected. I left with a YMC sweater that was on insane winter sale. I’m excited about the arrival of Uncle Pete’s, and hope that it may loosen up this stodgy town a bit.
