Country Inn & Suites

A great place to stay. Loved the breakfast and laundry facilities. Had a restful sleep in a quiet room. The only problem was a toilet backup left us using the toilets downstairs. We would have switched rooms but it started around midnight of our last night and didn’t feel like packing up at that time. The staff were very accommodating and personable.

This place was booked for me last minute, all the nearby hotels were full, leaving this Country Inn and Suites as the only option.
The good:
— Room was a decent size
— Ample parking
— Good continental breakfast
The bad:
— The free wifi was a joke (see picture)
— Air conditioner leaked water all over the floor
— Room smelled like mildew and BO
— No fan in bathroom
— Shower head was placed hilariously low, made showering a pain in the ass
— Exterior of building needs upkeep
— Beds were less comfortable than your average hotel bed
I’d pass on this place if possible.

This place is crying out for a renovation I have stayed here the last 4 years because of work. Each year I dread it more and more. The have discontinued room service and the morning breakfast is nasty, the internet does not work, the rooms and hallways are old and look dirty, the furniture is so outdated, small tv’s, no water pressure and the beds are horrible. The list goes on and on. Spend some money and fix this dump up

Needs maintenance and better management. Staff was not very friendly, and the rooms and halls were very dated. Broken back entry door made it difficult to get into room, staff was not even aware of it (even though there was a sign on it). The worst of all — there are no «Do not disturb» door hangers anywhere, so the housekeeper just walked right into our room before 10:00 a.m. when my wife was getting into the shower. A very poorly run hotel, for over $ 200 a night it was a rip-​off. Save your money and stay in Bellevue at a real hotel, this felt like a Motel 6.

First time I have tried this hotel chain. I travel for work but normally stay at holiday inn express.
First Impression was ok. Lobby is nice. Inviting sitting area with real fireplace and nice courtyard with pool. However when I opened the door to my room I was shocked at the smell. It was overwhelming and smelled like heavy incense used to cover up smoke or other smells. My eyes started watering within minutes and I felt somewhat nauseous.
Asked to change rooms (during that process I found the person in the room next to mine had the same experience and also had to change rooms). New room was better but still smelled like a grandmothers closet.
Tried avoiding room as much as possible. Halls and lobby smell fine. Fitness room smell bad enough I gave up on using it.

Not sure what is causing the smell, but if it is a cleaning product they need to stop using it asap.

Second time here. Customer service or front desk always polite and helpful. Price is reasonable. Rooms are clean and perfect so is the building. Morning breakfast EXCELLENT.. VERY well worth. Every penny..

I used to live in the Bothell Woodinville area. When I come back to visit or do business I usually stay at the Country Inn. Here are the reasons why.
Reasonable price for location.
Convenient location not far from Seattle or Everett.
Great parking.
Gas station, convenience store and some fast food a short walk away.
Nice lobby, seating area, eating area and bar. Cookies and coffee in lobby
Large rooms, many on first floor with comfortable beds and quiet, decent TV.
Free internet, it works!
A good very large breakfast buffet with many selections, scrambled eggs, potatoes ham or sausages. Along with cereal, waffles fruit, juice milk and more. You just can’t beat the breakfast and large comfortable eating area. I like to eat, have coffee read the paper and watch the news. It’s a real nice way to start the day.
I read some of the other reviews some with negative comments, I don’t see it that way. It is an older building but well cared for and the rooms area always clean, yes sometimes small things happen at any hotel that’s just the way it is.
For a change I tried a Best Western in Lynnwood it was a little less expensive and a lot less comfortable.

The good. It isn’t pricey and was walking distance from the office. The highlight is probably the hotel staff who were very nice, accommodating, and helpful. They’re the reason I gave 3 stars. Across the front of the hotel is a nice little Japanese take out place, «Teriyaki Etc.»
The not so good. Its dated and needs updating. Not a big deal, but this hotel is right next to a gas station. Although I had a flat screen tv in my room it wasn’t HD. The breakfast is mediocre– pastries were ok but the hot items weren’t. The eggs tasted like they were made from a dry mix and the sausage was swimming in liquid.

I really enjoyed my stay at Country Inn and Suites. I have stayed there on two separate occasions. I found the staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast was more than expected and had a great variety!

HERE’S THE EMAIL I SENT the manager THE SAME NIGHT of our stay:
I’m going to give you some feedback. What you do with it is up to you. I heard someone tell me the other day that unless a complaint ends up on social media (especially Twitter), most companies just don’t care that much anymore about poor experiences. Hope that’s not the case with you.
Tonight is the first time I’ve ever stayed in your hotel, due to just now getting a new assignment to this area. It’s been pretty bad thus far, sprinkled with a few good things.
The Great:
* I’m in Room 140. Your parking is awesome back where I parked. There’s plenty of it and a lot of it is in the shade.
The room is very spacious. I like the bed. The room was also clean, and the housekeeper deserves kudos.
The Good:
* The regular pool is quite warm, and the hot tub is very warm, but not uncomfortable.
The Bad:
* Girl at check-​in wasn’t the least bit friendly. She was robotic. She never once tried to engage me as a customer. I’d even go so far as to say she seemed totally ready to get me off the desk and out of there so she could move to something else. I’m sure you can understand the cascading effect. That first impression could have made the difference with impressions that followed.
* The back entrance close to our room is FILTHY!
* There were no towels out at the pool area, so I had to come back to the room to call someone about that. Eventually someone worked their way out there, but the couple that was already there sunbathing said it had been like that for a long time. It’s nice that after I asked, someone went out there. But it shouldn’t reach a point where it’s out for that long without having been checked on, especially during the peak of summer.
* The clock was unplugged, behind the nightstand. So, I had to crawl back there to plug it in and then set the time. That should already be done and shouldn’t be left to me.
The Very Bad:
* Standard-​def television. You realize this is 2014, right? Even the Motel 6 has better TV than that! What’s the point in having a flat panel HDTV in the room if the cable is in lo-​def?
* Your Internet is an abomination! You should be embarrassed, actually. And, because the TV was so bad, we took to watching YouTube videos, but those were buffering every 10 seconds. So I called the front desk, and was told I had to call an 800 number. I think this is just incredibly unresponsive. The rationale given to me was because it could be a connection issue with the individual device. Fair enough. But, straight from IT, I found out you cap your speeds at 2MB. WTH!!! So, if a person couldn’t stand the TV, they couldn’t watch Netflix, either, because the Internet is too slow. Again, it’s 2014, let’s get our technologic act together!!!
There you have it. Those are my thoughts. I think the room is comfortable. But I’m not sure that alone is worth almost $ 200. It’s often the extras that make up the difference. And, at least right now, those extras haven’t panned out. What I really look for is a seamless experience. This wasn’t it.

That has been done and now we will do the final upgrade in 2 weeks to get the HD service for our televisions shortly. I apologize that you were not able to experience it while here, however it is almost complete.

Blah, blah, blah… it’s like hearing an athlete talk about «takin’ ‘em one day at a time and God willing… «It’s a canned, cliché response! She said everything right here, and that’s the problem. Canned/​robotic/​no feeling… doesn’t REALLY care.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel from 07÷10÷2014−07÷16÷2014. Once we walked into the hotel it seemed pretty nice. I walked up to the front desk to check in and spoke with a young female and she began to check me in. I presented my credit card and advised her not run my credit card for additional amounts for «incidentals» since I was not going to use room service which apparently they do not have and I was not going to charge anything from the restaurants or bar. The young girl assured me that she would not, several minutes later I received a text from my bank stating that the hotel had authorized $ 150 additional over what my room was going to cost. I went back up to the front and spoke with the young girl and she stated that was policy. I understand policy which I’m fine with but just be truthful and let the customer know up front especially when they tell you about it.
We get up to our suite and bring our stuff in and while putting our personal items in the bathroom my wife notices that the toilet was clogged. We had to immediately call the front desk and they sent someone 30 minutes later to fix it. The suite was nice with two flat screen TV’s. The wireless internet in the room sucked though. I had to use my cell phone hot spot since the internet worked about 20% of the time very slow.
Their breakfast buffet in the morning was okay. They had scrambled eggs, potatoes. and corn beef. The eggs were good and the potatoes and corn beef were awful. I also tried the bar for a few drinks and food. The bar was understaffed and it took forever to get drinks. Frankie O the bartender was running back and forth and could not keep up with all the drink orders. He told me to sit outside since children were not allowed to sit in the bar area. I waited with my family for 20 minutes and nobody came out there to serve us so we left. Horrible!
The pool area was excellent it’s open till 10 pm. Kudos to the housekeeping department. We had the do not disturb tag on the door, so they left us sealed bags with clean towels and other items we requested everyday without having to ask.
Overall I would stay their again if there aren’t any hotels available in the area.

Based on our experience here, we will not stay in a Carlson hotel again. We booked our stay online for a non-​smoking room. When we arrived, we were told no non-​smoking rooms were available. In order to give us a non-​smoking room they «upgraded» us, charging us $ 25.00 more for the room than we had originally booked. When we talked to the manager, Shewa the next morning, she refused to do anything to rectify the situation. The hotel web site says,“At Country Inns & Suites By Carlson,℠ we have one goal: to treat guests like family. We do this by delivering caring, consistent and comfortable hospitality, with a touch of home.” This was certainly NOT the case and we do not recommend this hotel.

Three trips in three years to Bothell for a sports tournament and every year I’ve stayed at a different property in town. Unfortunately, this was my least favorite. It had an excellent location if you are in town for a tournament at the North Creek Sports Fields. In that case, it is a short walk and there is easy access to the freeway and old town Bothell is about 1−½ miles away.
However, compared to the Residence Inn just down the street and the Comfort Inn & Suites up one exit, it wasn’t as nice. There was a significant snafu during the registration process, but all of my other interactions with the staff were very good. I was also pleased with their breakfast buffet. Free wi-​fi and there were no parking fees or other random charges.
The lobby gives a good impression, but the rooms are dark and a little worn by comparison. Based on earlier reviews, I can say that the TV in my room was updated to a flat screen, but the walls and wallpaper had numerous dings and rips. The bathroom is quite basic.
There is a nice sized outdoor swimming pool in the courtyard, but due to the location, you get a lot of noise in the surrounding rooms. They belong to the Carlson group which I’m unfamiliar with, so I didn’t get any points or benefits from my more commonly used rewards programs.

15.50 for two drinks and they were not very good.
I would not recommend.

Service was very good.
Bed was comfortable. Sheets soft and lots of pillows.
They had a free breakfast which was nothing to write home about but was a nice addition.
I would certainly go back.

Walking in, they have a beautiful cozy lobby, with a burning fire and everything in August.
Check in process: not so great. Showed up about 9 or 10 pm on a Saturday night. Lady seemed disinterested and didn’t even attempt to be sincere. Hey, if I was 50 and stuck at a hotel front desk on a Saturday night… in Bothell, I would be pissed too. Told her we had a prepaid reservation through Travelocity. She finds it eventually in a stack of disorganized papers thrown in her work area. We booked a non-​smoking room. She says there are no more non smoking standard rooms. Do I want to pay $ 20 to upgrade to a non-​smoking suite. I have kids with me, and booked a nonsmoking room. Can you waive the fee? No. Being tired, hungry, and non-​refundable, I pay the darn $ 20. Is my happiness really worth that $ 20 to you Country Inn? Apparently it is. Done and over with, fine. I’m over it.
After leaving the lobby area and into the hallways, that is where I notice the place is horrendously dirty. There are garbage bags outside of many of the rooms, along with half eaten trays of food as well. So what, nobody cleans here or something? I was expecting to see rats scampering around any second too! Get to my room in the furthest possible point from the front desk. Room is okay size. King bed, fold out couch, and get this… an old school big fat tv. I don’t even remember what they are called! The first thing I always do is turn on he tv, low and behold, very fuzzy basic cable. I settle for some Spanish programming to keep things interesting (don’t understand a word of it though!).
I eventually leave to go get food, as after looking over their food menu, I don’t feel like fries or chips and salsa. So I’m in the middle of nowhere, go looking for a McDonalds, and end up close to Kenmore lanes, just because I am more familiar with that side of town than Woodinville. It’s a good 15 minutes out I think.
Come back, and park at the back door since it’s closer. The sidewalk in that area is covered with fallen little apples or something. It was so dark, I couldn’t tell what they were. I could have slipped, fell, and nobody but the smokers would have found me! They probably would have thrown their cigarette butts on me, and left to be honest, and nobody would have ever found my body beneath all the debris that was back there. On the way back to the room, all that garbage and food in the hallways is still there.
They have a business center in the lobby, which consists of 2 computers and a printer. The internet does not work. I tried surfing facebook, it wouldn’t load after waiting 3 minutes, got mad and gave up.
I sleep
I don’t check out in the morning, as I leave my son to sleep. He ends up getting picked up later and checks out for me. I get an email survey the next few days, told them what happened at check in. I was expecting at least a fake apology, but GM Shawna Pitts emails me back saying the hotel was busy that night. Thanks for my business. If it was so busy, why were there several non-​smoking rooms I could choose from? It was also close to 10 already, were they really expecting people to show up out of the blue and book the rest of the rooms? Bothell isn’t even a city!!! Pissed off, but hotel stay out of sight, out of mind.
I stayed end of Aug. Sept comes around, I get my credit card statement, along with a charge of $ 178.44. I look it up, turns out it is Country Inn & Suites. So if I failed to mention earlier, someone else prepaid this reservation for me at the time of booking, I saw the receipt and everything. They charged ME another nights stay and the upgrade fee to the card I had put on file for incidentals. So this really pisses me off! Now I am mad that I even let the issue go, but what can you do? I will be calling them tmrw morning to get my refund, and this time, I’m not going easy on the $ 20!!!
PS $ 178 for one night in Bothell??? I’ve stayed at 4 star hotels in Seattle, 5 star resorts in Vegas and never had to pay that much!!!

What a dump. The entry was nice but once you leave the comfort of the entryway, you’re left with side entrances with over flowing trash bins, dirty rugs, and musty halls. The rooms were musty and they still have tube TVs.

When you walk into the lobby you may be inclined to think «hey this is going to be nice!!» But you’d be mistaken.
The rooms also look nice upon first glance– no flatscreens here (do they even manufacture CRT TVs anymore???)! Which, by the way, doesnt even have a «standard definition picture». The picture is fuzzy and static. The curtains and all look acceptable but the wallpaper is peeling off at multiple locations– not a big deal until you stack it up with other things. Such as being booked in a smoking room (though Hotwire puts you where it puts you so whatever I’m trying not to be biased because our room reeks of old ashtray). The windows open about 2inches– at least if you end up in a room facing the pool.
The beds are comfy enough– I’m not sleeping on a cloud but I’m also not sleeping on a rock; they’re moderately comfortable.
The staff are nice so that’s a plus.

I came into the hotel with a negative mindset — I was determined not to like it. I’m very brand-​loyal, and stayed there because EVERYTHING I like was sold out.
Imagine my surprise when I discovered a comfy bed, a nicely-​sized room, and a decent shower — three things I enjoy in my travels. I’ve stayed at plenty of Marriott’s where I couldn’t get a night’s sleep because of the bed — this one was really good. I would like it if they got a bigger Internet pipe — they don’t have the bandwidth they need for the number of rooms that they have — but, really, that’s the only thing keeping me from giving it another star.

If you’re looking for a pet friendly hotel and came across this one, and happen to be checking Unilocal before reserving, you may want to know:
— There is a $ 50 non-​refundable fee to keep your pet here. I wasn’t told this was non-​refundable until my card was swiped and I was asked to initial a doc.
— If you have any timid small pets that like to hide in any nook/​cranny they find, Country Inn has not made their rooms «pet proof». My cat was able to squeeze under the dresser and also hide in the nightstand, somehow even able to go up *into* the nightstand, which I didn’t know was possible after examining it.
The lighting in the room was dark and so searching for my baby was not fun. On one search it was pretty easy though. He thought he did good:
As if it wasn’t bad enough that I don’t get to keep my baby, I had to deal with the thought of possibly losing him as I searched the hotel room up and down for him and couldn’t find him because he hid so well!
As for the hotel itself, there’s a bar, complimentary breakfast, free wi-​fi, beds are cozy. Rooms are of «country décor» so the name fits.
