This is basically what Black Angus is to steakhouse for sushi. Having tried sushi at major cities such as NYC and Vegas and outside of the country at places like the famous tsukiji market; I’d give this a solid 3⁄10. Not bad for Bothell, but definitely not the freshest or quality cut by any stretch of imagination. You come here because you don’t want to drive 10−20miles to eat decent sushi in Seattle. If you’re uninitiated, do yourself a favor and seek out better first impressions. Price wise, it’s on the economy side for sushi. Decent sushi can cost up to $ 300/head. They charge about $ 20/head here. It’s more affordable but not necessarily a good deal given the quality. It’s borderline.

This is by far one of the best Sushi restaurants in the area. In near proximity, Ta-Ke Sushi(Canyon Park), is the only other joint that can compete with the quality of Hana Sushi. Hana wins me over in the end, only because they have a better venue.

Just ate there last night, and I thought it was very good. I’m writing this review, especially because of the other reviewer that gave a bad review on the Chirashi. When I’m out alone for Sushi, I think Chirashi is one of the best ways to go, it gives you the best bang for your buck while receiving the most variety too. I thought the fish was very fresh, and actually, the rice was REALLY good… I know, that’s not the highlight of any Chirashi order — just had to throw that out there because I could taste the difference, and thought it was great. As for the fish, the cuts were definitely good, and tasted very fresh to me. I don’t think you’d get as much fish in any other serving if you ordered Nigiri or Sashimi and also have that type of variety, or even any of the other Sushi Combo options either — just think about it if you’re going to comment about bad prices. Sitting at the bar and watching the Sushi chef prepare other meals for people, I could tell it was a good place too, not to mention the portions looked amazing — even the rainbow roll, most places give really thin slices, just for that«rainbow» effect, at Hana, it looks like it was full slices, just like they’d use for a regular nigiri order. The only negative thing might be the size of the Chirashi bowl itself — it was so filled up with fish, that it was a little complicated to get to the rice on the first couple bites(though I managed). I should have asked for another plate to use on the side. Note: for the chef — please don’t take this to mean you should put less fish in the bowl, it was great! :-) I’ll be back for sure!

Overall — we will definitely be back. The food was high quality and the service was warm and welcoming. However, for some reason our server(out of 3) seemed to have most of the tables in the place. The other two servers would help their tables then stand near the back. They could benefit from better structuring the sections. But when things went wrong, they did comp us more than generously. We ordered edamame(perfectly done with lots of salt), chicken teriyaki with spicy tuna, California roll, and Chirashi. All genuinely wonderfully prepared.

This is my favorite place for nabeyaki udon! Used to go at least twice a week when I worked in Bothell! The best time to visit is between 1 – 2PM, to avoid lunch crowd. Chirashi is very fresh and tasty! Staff is super friendly and professional

Used to be good. They raised prices AND reduced the portions. The food is cooked with tap water, so is the water they serve and the teas. Look, if it was all high quality then I wouldn’t be complaining but it’s not the type of restaurant to go head over heals for.

Probably worst chirashi I have ever had at $ 21+ price point. Fish was not so fresh and rice was not seasoned properly. This may be only my opinion. Please go ahead and try it. Will likely not return this place.

Hana Sushi is a great unassuming sushi restaurant in downtown Bothell. There is always a little bit of a wait(not too long) which I think is a good thing. It is a small restaurant but very cozy. I feel like home when I eat here. The last time I dined here with my mom, the owner came around and introduced herself and told us a little bit about the restaurant and it’s history. It was so sweet and she was so nice. The sushi was delicious and very fresh. I really enjoyed the Bothell Roll. At the end of the dinner, she brought us out a complimentary dessert of green tea ice cream which was very good. I really love the overall atmosphere of Hana Sushi and I would highly recommend it. I will try many more rolls on their menu.

Good quality but slightly more expensive than other competitors in the area such as I love Sushi in Bellevue. This is a small restaurant in Bothell, so I like to support the local folks.

This place really blew me away! I sat at the sushi bar on what what one might expect to be a slow Monday, except while I sat there the entire restaurant filled up! Sushi chef and owner Hobin was one of the nicest and most down to earth sushi chefs that I’ve met. All told I tried about 10 different kinds of nigiri(hamachi belly, hotate, toro, white tuna, halibut, etc…) and all of them were excellent(except it’s still a little early in the year for uni, but it was still good and sweet). His mackerel(I NEVER eat mackerel, but he let me try his) was VERY good(NOW I was super impressed!). The whole time master Hobin talked with me, making me some of the best sushi I’ve had, while he and his sous sushi chef worked their butt off making sushi(tho mostly rolls — which looked yummy, BTW) for the rest of the restaurant. Not only will I be back, but THIS will be my go to place on the east side for sushi, no doubt!

Best sushi in Bothell. We’ve been going here for about 12 years. Amazing.

The staff is very friendly and enjoyed my experience; however, I was not particularly impressed with the sushi. Moreover, the menu options were limited. The interior to this restaurant was quaint and had the ambience for causal fine dining. I just don’t know if it is really worth the cost.

We were passing through Bothell on our way to BC, and it so happens to be my wife’s birthday. She wanted sushi. We were in unfamiliar territory. Unilocal to the rescue. Average sushi spot on my scale, but definitely quenched the sushi thirst after several days of eating burgers and grease on our road trip. They have a lot of rolls that i wouldnt order, like rolls with the words«spicy», «fried», and«cream cheese» in the descriptions. But the simple sashimi and nigiri were great. They were out of toro, but their hotate was very good. Good service and clean. My 2 year old also liked the aquarium they have at the bar with goldfish and turtles. Nice little place in the downtown area surrounded by antique shops and the like. I don’t write many reviews anymore but I just wanted to give these guys 4 stars for being there when we needed them.

First of all. They have an aquarium in the sushi bar, hand out with the turtles. … second. Their food is amazing. Only gripe, stay open later!

I first ate at Hana over a decade ago, and to this day their sushi is still the best I have ever had… and I have eaten sushi in Hawaii. Their ebi, unagi and masago are absolutely unbeatable, and the calamari is fresh, crisp and has an addicting dipping sauce. The chicken karaage is perfectly breaded and seasoned as well. Whenever I am anywhere near Bothell, Hana is the place to go.

The first time that I went to this restaurant, my husband and I were greeted and chose to sit at the bar. The chefs behind the bar are very friendly, are happy to take orders directly, and seem to genuinely love what they do. Miso Soup came complimentary with our sushi orders, and the food was fantastic. When we had finished our meal, the chef behind the bar asked us if this was our first time at the restaurant, and we answered«yes.» He then placed an order for complimentary mochi ice cream for us for dessert. I was just astounded by how amazing the staff was, and how kind they were. We will definitely be going to this place many times!
