Zamani World Dance

Zamani Word Dance is a charming studio in Country Village, Bothell, WA. I take lessons here with two amazing teachers: Maria Morca (
) teaches flamenco to both children and adults, and knows more about this beautiful art form than anyone else I know. Ashira (
) is my belly dance teacher. She has studied with some of the most renowned dancers in the Northwest, and helped me get back into dance after I suffered several injuries. She also teaches both adults and children. I cannot recommend either of these instructors highly enough, and I know that the other instructors at Zamani are equally qualified.

I’ve studied belly dance for nearly two decades and I have to say that my favorite classes have happened at Zamani World Dance.
Although I find the free-​roaming chickens and little shops charming (and the short drive from North Seattle isn’t bad either), I keep coming back for a several reasons:
–Depth of knowledge (I’m studying with RUTH ST. DENIS’S protégé) Teachers include: Maria Morca, Roxy Stimpson, Janelle Bel Isle and Dahlia Moon
–Tailoring classes to the students. Every teacher I’ve studied with has easily adapted their lesson plans to the skill levels in the room as well as people’s personal goals. They take the time to know who you are and why you’re there.
–Lasting friendships. There’s a level of joy and camraderie that happens in these classrooms and these friendships naturally extend beyond dance time.
–Great workouts: emotionally, mentally and physically
–Vintage belly dance, performance coaching (these are the people who cured my stage fright), flamenco and Bollywood

Zamani World Dance is the place to go for exceptional belly dance training. The teachers are all well-​connected to the Northwest belly dance community, which is welcoming to new dancers and supportive of those who are developing their skills. If you wish to be part of this community, you couldn’t do better than to begin taking classes here! The studio is also a great place to rent for personal practice or small private events.

I LOVE this place. I love the instructors, the classes, the workshops, the setting… my only complaint is that it’s too far from where I live. I live in Tacoma. More of my problem than yours… seriously, they’ve got a wide range of classes and workshops from flamenco to tribal and middle eastern bellydance, folkloric and gypsy… for adults AND kids. the owner is a world class dancer and instructor, with decades of experience traveling to every corner of the earth to learn local dance customs and culture. all of the instructors she has on her roster are equally amazing. I HIGHLY recommend coming here. OH, and sometimes shows/​performances/​film nights are hosted here. you can also rent the space for rehearsals and such.

Tucked away in a funky complex of old barns, tugboats, train cars, etc., this beautiful little oasis of a dance studio specializes in bellydance and flamenco.
The instructors are at the top of their field, and many are nationally/​internationally known.
They hold intellectually inspiring cultural activities such as «Dance on Filn» nights, speakers and intimate music and dance concerts.
