I found the center to be informative and interesting. I had never been here before and learned a lot of new information about the area.

I think the world of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area(abbreviated LMNRA). It is unquestionable that I think highly of the Alan Bible Visitor Center. It is the main visitor center that was my trail head for an extended hike in the LMNRA. The Alan Bible Visitor Center reopened earlier this year. When it was closed for refurbishment, the neighboring River Mountains Loop Trail parking lot reached full capacity. I’d be left to pay $ 10 to pass the Fee Station then proceed two miles to the Boulder Beach parking lot. When it reopened it increased the parking spaces for the River Mountains Loop Trail and Historic Railroad Tunnel Trail. The inside of the visitor center features two large rooms. Room one houses an information center and gift shop. Room two is the Discovery Center. The Discovery Center is the museum of LMNRA. I appreciate museums. They display the enthusiasm of the human spirit. I could feel the enthusiasm that the creators of the museum feel toward th Lake Mead National Recreation Area. In detail the exhibits displayed the ecosystem, fauna, facts, and geology of the park. My favorite exhibit is the diorama of LMNRA. Being the geography buff that I am, I appreciated the attention to the details of the landscape. Two fun facts I learned here is LMNRA is 13% water and the first National Recreation Area. The gift shop sells the usual National Park Service gifts. Despite the fact that the Park Ranger was uninformed of the River Mountains Loop Trail, she was polite and helpful. This is the place to purchase annual park passes and pick up maps. Just outside the visitor center is a spectacular overlook of Lake Mead. The view is as good as it gets. I wasn’t satisfied to stop, collaborate, and listen. I was determined to spend the next 4 hours in this landscape. The reason I drove here was for a spiritual tune up hiking along the Lake Mead Shoreline. The Alan Bible Visitor Center is a major hiking trail crossroads in LMNRA. A right turn commences the 3.7 mile Historic Railroad Tunnel Trail to Hoover Dam. A left commences the River Mountains Loop Trail south loop toward Boulder City. I continued straight on the River Mountains Loop Trail two miles to Boulder Beach. Then I walked along the shoreline to Las Vegas Boat Harbor. There I spent some time. Then I walked along Hemenway Road toward the Visitor Center. The Lake Mead scenery was overwhelming. It was a natural high feeling the Serotonin of the sun and witnessing the same water that flows through the Grand Canyon brushing against the Silver Leaf Sunray blanketed shore. The Alan Bible Visitor Center is the crossroads of major LMNRA hiking trails. I will be meeting this crossroads again sometime in the future.
