1) Tasty, flavorful 2) Open late 3) Cheap and casual What more do you want? Service? Get out of here This is probably the best middle eastern food in Boulder. The only place better nearby is in Golden(Amira Grill).

I was super hungry on my way home and in the mood for Mediterranean… so, when I saw Alfaret, I got super excited and immediately pulled over. I generally don’t have high expectations for food on the hill, but there are definitely some gems, so I was willing to give it a try. I was a little scared, because the place was completely empty. Like, scary empty. But, so where most other places around, so maybe the kids were all out of town? Anyway, I asked him for some recommendations and decided on the chicken shawarma plate. As I was paying, I asked him why I didn’t find him on Unilocal… He told me that they used to be called fresh foods. I pulled up fresh foods and immediately got scared! There is absolutely no love for that restaurant on Unilocal. The only 2 positive reviews were obviously written by the owners or management. Every single other one is 1 super pissed off star. However, when I got home I was amazed… and I feel bad for the guy that currently owns it, because he has inherited some serious hate. I do believe that they are at the very least under new management, if not new ownership… This food was extremely fresh and delicious! The hummus was amazing, the salad was crisp & bright and green, and the shawarma was juicy and tender. Even the pita seemed fresh baked?! I did need to add some salt and hot sauce, but I do that for almost every meal, anyway, because I’m an addict. Maybe I just lucked out? But as of right now, I honestly think the only better Mediterranean food in the area(ok, besides the Med, but they’re different)) is Arabesque, but they’re always closed. If I end up with food poisoning tomorrow, I will let you know;)
