Bayleaf On Pearl

This is probably one of the cutest and most memorable shops I’ve ever visited. I rarely review retail shops, but this one has such awesome stuff I had to rave! You must visit. Something for everyone + great gifts.

The service here is awful. I’ve been in this store multiple times and every time I leave with a bad taste in my mouth. The last time I visited with my mom she bought quite a bit of the chocolate and the woman at the front desk said nothing to us the entire time she checked us out, and gave us a smirk and handed my mom the bag. I will be going elsewhere from now on.

This is a complete gem of a store in a world of cookie cutter franchises. I absolutely love the creativity and thoughtfulness in product selection and display. It is a sensory experience that you won’t soon forget. As others have said, you do feel as though you are in a fabulously cluttered store in a European town, seeing beautifully displayed products at every turn. I always spend more than I intended in Bayleaf, but I end up with special items that I wouldn’t find anywhere else in town. This is a superb store!

I love walking through this store. It makes me feel like I’m at an outdoor, French café. And it’s so cute! Although the prices for most things seems a bit high, we do always buy a good selection of the Chocolove bars whenever we come.

The service was a little rough and lack of friendliness. Maybe I’m use to the southern hospitality, but a ‘thank you’ or some gesture to your customer when they just finished purchasing your product would be suitable.

It’s a small world after all! I can absolutely stay there for hours. The décor is so realistic that I felt like I was actually in Spain, Italy, or London. They have linen’s from France, Claypots from Spain, to bucatini from Italy… Name it and they have it. Of course, they carry local products as well:) When in Boulder — this is a must see store. and if you have not been out of this country. Well, this is your chance to see a glimpse of Europe. I guarantee that you will fall in love with this store.

I love this store… it took me right back to Paris. Beautiful interior and displays. We bought a few British food products.

As others have mentioned, the ambiance in this store is par none. Really, this is a reflection of the absolutely lovely selection of intriguing, special gifts, many with a hip European catholicism theme (are those words that shouldn’t go together?).
Say me, this is *the* place to go in Boulder if you’re looking for a gift.
That being said, the service from the employees I interacted with was a little rough and at odds with the lovely ambiance — a little bit rude and definitely disinterested.
And their jewelry return police is just odd. No returns or exchanges period. They do not make this clear anywhere in their signage with the jewelry or at the front of the store — so if you’re purchasing a *gift,* don’t waste 10 minutes choosing, like I did, if you aren’t absolutely certain of their taste or ok with throwing your money into something that might live out its existence shoved into the back of a drawer.

This store. This is the type of store you hope for when looking for novelty stuff you never knew you wanted. There are so many nifty and appealing items from soap to toys to cooking things.
That said, it’s really packed inside. Good luck moving around freely if it’s a weekend. And there’s nothing you urgently need to own unless something strikes your fancy. I enjoyed the walk through and taking some strange pictures, but ultimately all I left with were some [amazingly delicious] chocolate bars.

ok this store gets 5 stars on ambience alone…
i felt swept away to europe when I walked inside. Probably there isn’t a single thing anyone would «need» in this store… but between the cute children’s section, cards, euro soaps/​lotions, italian cooking stuff, artsy books, color-​coordinated candy section, you end up leaving with something anyway…
i mean… whoever designed this interior i want to come in my house so i can feel also taken away. to another time and place…
cute for gifts or just splurging on yourself. will def come here again next time im in boulder.

I’d been in this place several times but only in the front room. This place goes on for rooms and rooms. Cool products and pieces from around the world.
N.B.: Don’t miss their wall of mustards!

Very pricey spot for «imported» items, but wait, I saw some little Heartwood boxes there, and I wouldn’t consider them an import, knowing they came from Rockford, IL. Also saw some English canned goods that I have gotten at Fresh & Easy for less than half what they were charging for them. Be careful when you peruse the store. I did like the Chocolove bars.

The sections are organized by country — you move from French soaps to British snacks as you make your way to the back of the store.
The XOXO chocolate and candle selection is insane — unlike anything I’ve ever seen.
The only downfall is the staff isn’t particularly friendly. I’ve never once been greeted when I arrive.

I personally love the décor of the store and the variety of high quality merchandise — makes me feel like I’m in Europe! I’m so glad they expanded! The owner has always been very kind to me, and I have always had good experiences with the employees.
Its a unique store, and definitely worth a visit!

the employees are pretentious and incredibly rude, but they have unique merchandise. the older man working was outstandingly condescending to my mother & i to the point of snapping at her for looking at an instrument and wouldn’t leave our sides until we left the store. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. don’t shop here.

Beautiful store with a vast selection of overseas goodies and gorgeous cards. Also the best price in town for Boulder made chocolate.

This happens to be one of my favorite stores in Boulder. The merchandise is unique and there is nothing like it around. I could spend my entire day looking around in this store. I’ve never been made to feel uncomfortable. The employees have always been helpful and polite. If you’re looking for a one of a kind gift for someone special, this is the place !

I was walking around Pearl st. yesterday with an out of town friend. We went into Bayleaf to buy some chocolate to bring back as gifts. The owner and very nice young gentleman working at the store made us feel so comfortable. We could have spent hours in there talking to them and looking around.
There are so many unique gifts in there.
The chocolove made especially for Bayleaf is delicious!
Cant wait to go back :)

As Alexandra said I am also surprised by the negative reviews. It sounds there is the problem of the staff hassling the customers which was not the case for me. Perhaps they were too busy with other customers to bother me.
I don’t have any complaints about the store. I thought the merchandise was arranged nicely and created a good atmosphere. The store had lots of unique merchandise that I have not seen in a close proximity to Boulder.
